I’m old enough to well remember this at the time it occurred, but this show on Netflix goes into much deeper detail, into both Dahmer himself, and his actions. We’re halfway through it and it’s been fascinating, though obviously in a disturbing way. Shoutout to Evan Peters, who in my opinion gives one of the best acting performances I’ve ever seen. He’s so good you completely forget it’s an actor and not Jeffrey Dahmer himself.

Saw an article today that raves about the show, but also insisted we didn’t need it/it was completely unnecessary. That about sums it up for me. Show is soooo well done, but bringing up these old memories is a lot to handle.

I'm sure this is great, but is Netflix obsessed with Dahmer? Am I wrong, or does it seem like Netflix has provided a decent amount of Dahmer content over the last few years. How about throwing H.H. Holmes a bone.

I feel like it’s been Bundy and not Dahmer. But regarding Mr Holmes, Hulu is creating a series based on that book involving him.

They're obsessed with all contemporary serial killers it seems.

They had that Ted Bundy movie with Zac Effron, and they've had tons of "(insert serial killer name)tapes" originals

I was surprised at the Zac Effron Bundy movie. Wasn't bad at all.

There is a big obsession with true crime, period. It's about the only TV my wife watches. Hopefully i'm not pushing her to take notes and get me on one of those shows!

Do you not realize there’s been serial killer documentaries on cable channels like A&E for at least the past 30+ years? You’re too woke for your own good.

I used to watch Dateline a lot and all that stuff, but stopped over the last year as I just don't think it's healthy at all to watch that murder porn, especially over and over and right before bed. It can't be good for your mental health.

What? What does woke have to do with anything?

-hey there's serial killer docs

- what the hell woke as hell

Lololololololol

Bub, calm down. All I'm saying is that they've put out a lot of serial killer content in the last couple years.

Yes I'm fully aware, and ID channel makes a lot of murder porn shows for women. So take your apron off after you finish making a sandwich and enjoy one

What bothers me about it and others like it is why they bend the truth. For example, the guy that got away and brought the police back to catch him was not gay. Straight guy who only wanted to take photos for money. Never danced for him. Just go watch his testimony. Never met in a gay bar. Just seems Netflix went out of their way on the homosexual angle. There were other aspects of it that were not true either. Overall, the acting is very good and they got most of it right.

I liked that they gave some story on the victims. The episode of the 14 year old boy was the most disturbing to me. I don’t recall hearing about the cops returning him to Dahmer until years after his arrest. The final episode lists his victims and he actually killed two 14 year olds.

I've watched the Ted Bundy tapes (the Efron movie was pointless) and Gacy tapes as well as the Unabomber tapes. Fascinating.

I also remember the early 2000s straight-to-DVD movies about serial killers where Jeremy Renner played Dahmer.

But with Dahmer, I don't think I can do this one. It's one of the more disturbing ones. Short of the guy in the 1920s (I think) who killed kids and cooked them, Dahmer is the most disturbing one of the last century.

Dateline has taught me that if you get married, you've got a 75 percent chance of your spouse murdering you. I've watched so much Dateline, ID, and Court TV over the last 20-plus years that I feel like the jaded detective Morgan Freeman played in Se7en. So many tropes people do.

H.H. Holmes is surrounded by a bunch of myths.

Albert Fish killed a little girl and ate her, then wrote a letter to her parents telling them how she tasted

Albert Fish is the most ****ed up serial killer. Ever. He killed a 9 year old girl, cooked her body, then sent a letter to her parents describing in detail how he killed her and then ate her. He then goes on to say ''she died a virgin''.

Yeah, couldn’t think of his name. Did one google search to see if I could find it and then assumed I showed up on some federal list afterward.

I had to study that guy in a college human sexuality course (required), and it was disgusting.

This is the absolute toughest watch ever but I can't stop. Only through episode 4. If Evans wasn't so good in the role, I'd quit it now.

Yeah, the blood scene was awful. My wife had just walked into the room right as he went bottoms up and nearly yacked.

We watch it when in bed and my wife last night said she cant do it anymore then proceeded to ask how many Eps there are. Said we are halfway thru so lets just finish it. I am somewhere in Ep 5 I believe. Its def tough to watch but I love true crime so easier for me than most.

It's weird for me because the actual murder scenes, like the hitchhiker, don't bother me in the slightest. I'm so desensitized to it from all the shows/recreations all over the place and having seen most anything on serial killers or even shows like Narcos with a lot of gruesome death scenes.

The stuff that got to me to this point was the mannequin scene in the bed and the blood. Those are more specific to Dahmer and my brain just can't process what I'm seeing.
