D-League

Good morning from ATX. Currently 72°F and cloudy. Rain expected. Believe we're at today's high.

Congrats UConn, Knew Huskies stood a good chance at winning it all.

Solar eclipse = dud for us yesterday. Too cloudy/overcast. Pretty cool when lights went totally out for a few minutes. Austin turned into a traffic and congestion nightmare yesterday.

As UK men's BB coaching search drama continues....

Let's go Baseball Cats!

Good morning D-League.

UConn completes the inevitable repeat. Meanwhile, Kentucky under the “leadership” to stretch the term of Mitch Barnhart looks likely to hire Scott Drew. That’ll be maybe a bigger let down than Billy Clyde, because he was following Tubby who never really had success on his own. Cal’s glory run of 2010-2017 was fading but at least we all remember that excitement. I just don’t see Drew getting the program back there.

I guess there is still hope Mitch surprises us.

Heading downtown. I hope you all have a great day.

Morning Legionnaires!

57° this morning with a high in the mid 60's expected. Possibility of storms throughout the next two days. Radar saying it will hold off until about noon. Enough time to get the monsters walk in (makes her happier for the rest of the day),

Not paying much attention to the coaching search because there is just too much speculation and click baiting going on. Paying more attention to UK and Cincy baseball. UK moved up a lot in the rankings from #17 to #8 this week.

Reds in a scoring duel last night took the first of three from the Brewers 10-8. De La Cruz hit two homers last night with the second being an in the park home run. Dude has some speed.

Enough of this for now, you guys be safe out there and Gods Speed if you are traveling.

Good morning all,

It seems I will have a house full today. Welcome or not welcome we shall see. Having a lot of warranty work done today mostly paint BUT, also a manager is supposed to show up though catching him on the phone does not happen. (Amazing) I have arbitration in mind, we shall see what happens but this day is not in a good trajectory from the start. I am thankful but not in a giving mood today...

Take care and have a great day! Be who you are and enjoy...

You beat me to posting about De La Cruz Warrior. He's had some amazing highlights - stealing home, hitting for cycle, some mammoth blasts, and the inside-outside homer trick -- for a guy about whom you can still say it isn't a certainty he'll even stick in the Majors. I THINK he will, and hope he will, but man there are times he seems overmatched at the plate.

That feat of hitting one out and then getting an inside-the-part homer I only saw once during a game when I was in the park -- Riverfront, late 1980s, I saw Eric Davis do it. He hit a shot that landed way up at the top of Riverfront's left field upper deck. Then he skipped a ball into the gap between center and right and just raced around the bases like The Flash of comic book fame. There's a guy I always felt had the raw talent to be one of the true greats of the game, but wasn't healthy enough, and maybe not focused and dedicated enough.

Yeah, back in the day when my son was growing up, he threw a baseball 85 mph when he was 15 or so. Had the body to go all day long. He just didn't love the game enough... Always comes back to me, what if.... I loved the game almost too much but never had the talent it took... I am thankful, he spent time in IRAQ, is a nurse for the VA and then some. No regrets...

He's got a fine family finally.. Had some serious rough times with his ex and still does but that is tempered a little now though she is a serious candidate for maximum security prison. (I know I floated all over but that is how it was/ is...)

How could you.... 😁

Yeah, two hits from me on De La Cruz is batting and sometimes defense. He seems to have the mechanics for D, but sometimes he seems to either lose focus or tries to be too cool with the way he tries to deliver the ball to a base. He needs to shore both of those areas up and he will be special.

I seem to remember him taking himself out of the line up because he needed a rest......not for millions a year you don't.....I remember thinking that this guy had the talent to be an all time great but not the discipline.....

Haha. I don't condone bullying anybody, and agree that whoever was being targeted by this nut should be left in peace on the Metro.

But it is remarkable how quickly something like homophobic slurs becomes a big Metro issue and a national news story when women get harassed on Metro by homeless bums every day, some get touched in inappropriate places by sexual deviants, there are plenty of assaults and lots of people are made to feel uncomfortable by lunatic losers, and that all gets pretty much ignored with a shrug.

Good morning all,

Breaking my own protocol but that's okay, I don't enforce it riligiously.

Had a meet and greet with the general manager for company that built my house. (He had been there before, luckily a decent joe.) I am again thankful..

They are not doing everything but I'd hate to live on the difference between what we wanted and what they agreed to do. (Using a quasi John Wayne line from Rio Bravo...

Big changes for me in I think a good way. Not fully official yet but with what I have to prove, I have it covered well so not concerned.

I will hopefully be able to finish up like I'd hoped. "God willing and the river don't rise..."... (The Green Beret.)

I think I will hit the commisary and the class six during "dinner" today.

Take care and I DO hope Barnyard does this right.....

Do you actually have a Class 6 anymore or is it like on Ft. Sill where all of the alcohol has been moved to the Shoppettes.

Yeah,

It says Class six with gas station... if you scroll down...

I can get gas a lot cheaper off post but the class six is right on the way to the commissary and close. Can get a better deal on post with beer and stuff plus no taxes but they DO have the surcharge...

They have a heckuv a choice of booze... I just hit the beer... A few chips and stuff but it is nearly all alchohol.

National Banjo Day!
You folks should be verrrrrrry happy that I don't know how to upload video to this site........besides being ugly........I can make a hound dog howl with my banjo..... 😉

Oh, Just log onto Youtube and create a free account. It will give you an account where you can upload and share items like I did the Luray Cavern organ several posts back. (I think on the last page from this one.)

It will give you an option to share. Just copy the link and paste it into a message here. It works pretty well.

Yeah, I was at Belvoir years ago (2 different times actually) to re-certify my Passport Agent status for Ft. Sill.

The Class 6 that I went to was more Class 6 and less Shoppette than here. There was more alcohol there than food/supplies. Here at Ft. Sill, it is about 50/50. Half the store for supplies and the other half alcohol and they are smaller than the ones at Belvoir.

A lot of functional drunks here....

When I first arrived to work in DC back in November of 2016 on my first day, I was invited to a mixer at 5pm...they drank until near midnight. (I never went to another one but I do attend many functions and they booze it up.) MTF but this was all executives and political appointees and such. (I was in the peon type class and still am but I am around them.) This was a Monday night. Nearly as bad as in Korea.

Yeah, I'm still hooked on UK....
Me too, but I am at the point right now where I am hoping they take their time to get the right guy. So many are going crazy wanting the hire to happen at this moment. For me, what we need is to sit back and look at some younger coaches who are on the upswing and are hungry. Ones that want a challenge and have an "I don't care what they think" attitude.

My wife this morning said that UK needs a guy like "Chucky" (John Gruden). Meaning of course a coach with his attitude and intensity. Could not argue with that. Until we get one it is "Go Reds" (starting slow however) and look out Bass. I guess you could say that I am also hooked on Bass.

Be safe out there folks, happy hunting UK, and God Speed to all.

I spent a hour or so yesterday reading and laughing at a lot of those post. It was actually kind of funny if you do not get sucked into the insanity.

Been reading but they are completely gone wild. Made a couple posts but nothing overboard. Don't envy Uncle Jed and ILL for the next several days/ weeks until a coach is announced and then the fall out.

There will always be those who will be unhappy no matter who we hire. The Legion of Doom element will never go away, it just changes members with every situation. I too could be in that group if we were let's say, hire someone like Bruce Pearl as I think he is too skeevy to coach here. However, I would give him a chance, but he would be on a tight leash. Admittedly, I was recently in the LOD (so to speak) with reference to CAl's performance the past 2 or 3 years.

Right now however, I am really relaxed with the situation and understand that the fix will not be overnight so, the next couple of years or so could be difficult on UK fans.

With apologies/homage to Robin Williams character in Mrs. Doubtfire: "Effy prepare yourself"

Iffy was a girl they'd have called him Effy...-Tennessee Ernie Ford...
