D-League

If that is the case, I will have to change strategy. It looks like I will have to adopt the Mick Dundee approach.

Good morning D-League. Last work day of the week for me.

We’ve crossed over from cool to cold in the east —temps down to the low 30s overnight.

Looking forward to my quick trip to Kentucky tomorrow morning. Still love to be home. Hoping to find my parents hanging in there at 92 and 88….it’ll be good to see my brothers and sister.

Have a great day folks.

Taking my daughter to get an MRI on her knee today. She hurt it while golfing during the HS season but wouldn't go to the doctor because she was afraid they wouldn't let her finish the season out. We finally got her to go after season and he ordered this MRI. He thinks it could be her meniscus or MCL so she's hoping it's an issue that rest and physical therapy will take care of without the need for surgery.

If it has to be one, hope for a meniscus issue over MCL. Best to her.

Spent a melancholy evening with a long time good friend last night. He doesn't have a lot of time left between heart (biggest issue), cancer, & kidney disease. Doctors say six months & who knows after that. I love him to death even though he's a LV grad & big fan. Known him over 50 years. Have traveled & vacationed with him and his wife many times. Usually see him 2-3X/week at the bridge club. Will be 77 in March. Gave him a big hug.

Good morning from ATX. We've got 56°F and cloudy. Clearing later with a high of 82°F.

Heading into the office later. Happy Friday, y'all.

I hope your animal is doing okay AND you!

I guess I never had a good one of those "things" (Baklava). They look edible but I am still looking for a good tasting one. The couple I had were ill prepared. (That one looks good though!)

Checking in from rural Campbell County. Made great time on my drive til I hit a crazy rain storm near Columbus…It was like the subtropical rains I used to see in South Florida in terms of sheer intensity.

In any case, good to be home. Mom and dad seem to be in good mental and physical health, aside from dad needing his Walker. One of my brothers has been by and the others are heading over.

Heading out to supper in a bit. They always take me to Skyline for Chili because it was my favorite 55 years ago, and I still like it. Then I hope we can watch the Cats’ game. Not sure about the television details.

Hope it’s a good weekend ahead for all.

Everyday is a blessing and seems he knows this. Kentuckiana confuses me. I've cousins that moved to Indiana and chose being a "Hoosier" to escape Louisville. I moved 2000 miles and determined that it wasn't Louisville.

How about Reed! The team is much better when he's in the game. Wagner had a better game. Still not up to his expectations but that should come in time. Edwards is a head scratcher. Predicted by some pre-season as the #1 NBA pick. Still early.

NCAA dragging their feet on Ivisic is inexcusable.

As we get older, we think about our mortality and things that are or might have been. The Lord knows I have made my share of mistakes and several extra. I suppose if I knew at the time how things would turn out, I'd do a few things different, but if I went into them not knowing, I'd probably do them the same way again. I did what I thought was right at the time, even if they were foolish. If the Lord takes me tomorrow, I can't say He shortchanged me on time or opportunity.

Regrets. I've had a few, to quote Sinatra. Well, more than a few.

I have a few as well but, the one I would really change if I could, would be to play more organized baseball growing up. In the third grade I played and was the utility man for our team that won the city championship. After that, my stepfather would not let me continue to play because if he was close enough with work (Drywall) he would pick my brother and me up after school to help him work until late (school homework suffered). We would also have to work on weekends and most of the summer. This happened until just before my senior year when I turned 18 and moved out. He was pissed because I worked for this lawyer after school and weekends, and he put me up so I did not have to live at home. He was so mad that one evening while I was visiting my mother, he came home early and started beating me with his fist (he was 6' 4" 240lbs and I was 5' 7" 140lbs) until my brother grabbed a metal pipe and told him to stop. Needless to say, my brother moved out too.

I left for the army 2 months after graduating and the rest is history. I was a pretty good player (very good defensively) in the third grade and believe with an opportunity to play through the years I would have at least earned a scholarship to play at the college level. Who knows from there.

Oscar is a "Mad Ant" I guess.... does he get "crumbs" for pay?

As Jeff Goodman of Stadium pointed out, Tshiebwe will make $560,000 on that deal. He was reportedly making $2 million in NIL money at Kentucky. Tshiebwe would have made more money if he stayed another year at Kentucky, but he was ready to move on and I'm told he'll make $560K next season on a two-way deal.Jun 24, 2023

I bet he will never play at UK. Enis all over again.

Pardon the drive-by post. I’m with my family in KY and can’t post much. But I’m mighty sick of Kentucky football playing like a collection of undisciplined, uninspired, poorly coached and chickenshit losers.

Four penalties already? Five? I’ve lost count. They may come back and beat a very mediocre, beat down South Carolina. But it’s been a disappointing season, and a terrible start tonight.

Okay. End of rant. Back to trying to enjoy a night in the Bluegrass with a family of Kentucky fans, who are also sick of this mess.
