D-League

For those who've lived in Middlesboro, here's a cool view taken from Tri-States Peak. You can see airfield runway on the right.

And Noetown to the left about as far as you can drive, seems near Vantoy Medleys store but my memory may be failing me.

Edit: Has the Y expanded?

Last full day of summer was damn hot at 96 degrees. Things are about to change quickly. 70s for the next 10 days. Perfect!!

Hummingbirds seem to have amscrayed for the winter. Still have about 75 tomatoes left on the vine but only about 1/3 have good size. Trying to find a new firewood source. Deck needs to be sealed. Lawn renovation is coming along nicely although it's patchy in some spots. FOOTBALL!!!! Yes, autumn is here. Love this time of year.

Welcome to autumn D-League.

My favorite season, Halloween and Thanksgiving, the baseball post-season, the heart of college and NFL football and the start of college hoops. Every weekend should be pretty interesting through the end of November.

getting an early start on the work day so I will wish you all well and catch up later.

Good Thursday Morning

Waiting for the sun to come up with 72Ā° and clear skies. Today should be a sunny day with only 4% chance of rain. We will hit 84Ā°. Reading some of your posts on hot weather up North is strange, some as high as 96Ā°. I think the all time record around here is about that. We usually have a nice breeze off of the Gulf to keep us comfortable. I really don't need AC since I was raised without it but my wife could not survive without it. She use to love the sun and beach life but as she got older she changed. She likes the cold weather now.

Today I start rehab on my left shoulder. I should have started this months ago but I put it off until I had to do something. The days of my bouncing back after an injury are coming to an end.

I trust all are well and in good spirits. Football is in the air so I am living the dream. Go CATS

Morning Legionnaires!

About a 12-degree shift from yesterday with today's temp supposed to be around 86Ā°. Tomorrow supposed to be back up in the high 90's.

Normal day for me today, workout in about 45 minutes from now and then playing Mr. Miyagi at around 10:00. I use that time frame also to pick up whatever we need from the stores in Lawton OK. Now I just need my wife to tell me what "we" need.

Don't generally watch Monday or Thursday night football unless there is a good match up but, I am going to watch tonight. Not a Marquee game (Steelers and Browns) but football none the less.

You guys be careful out there today and God Bless.

It is 70.7Ā°F and sunny here and the weather forecast says only a high of 75Ā°F. We got up to 96Ā° yesterday on both porches even though it was supposed to top out at 95Ā°. It was hot and then last afternoon we had a two minute wind and rain event. The temps plunged and we got .06" of rain nearly instantly. Then it stopped and the sun came back out. It was strange.

You all enjoy your Thursday.

We are now at 78.3Ā°F. So much for forecasts.

Good morning D-League. It's currently 71Ā° and rainy here in Eastern Kentucky. This afternoon will become mostly sunny and bring a high of 72Ā°.

Everyone stay safe on this Thursday.

Been there. Felt like Vietnam Memorial. Dadā€™s future battleship was only one at Pearl not on Battleship Row Dec. 7 but in dry dock a couple miles away. Still badly damaged but soon was in the fight all over the Pacific. AZā€™s sister ship.

The job where you don't get fired for being wrong.

Yeah it amazes me how wrong the weather "predictions" in the states seem to have always been.

While in Korea from 2012 to 2015 if the weatherman stated it was going to rain at 2:15, at 2:14 be opening your umbrella... (Seemed to always be accurate. So accurate it made me notice.)

Many years ago the traveling Viet Nam Memorial came near here. My daughter and her then boyfriend (a vet) wanted to take me to see it. I wanted no part of it, but they were trying to honor me, so I went along and acted nice about it. I guess it's to honor the dead and for the families of those who died. Personally, it makes me very uncomfortable. Maybe I am being selfish, but it's the Why Me Lord thing I've posted about before. One of the things that haunts me still is one night I was the head of a SAT team. We patrolled our sector to check on security posts and to provide quick back up in case of an emergency. The ROK marines had the sector right next to us and we got a call that something was going on and to provide back up immediately.

As we drove up, we could hear unholy almost demonic noises, primal noises. The closer we got, the louder they were. Turns out the ROK had caught a woman (likely prostitute) sneaking on base. They had taken a slap flare and set it off inside her female parts. She was literally burning to death from the inside. On a quiet night, I can still hear her. I can't call it screams, because that would be human noises.

I have a cousin who owned a plane. that he kept at that airport. He took me up one day and I was able to see the tri-state area's topography for the first time.

Did anyone every know a Jack Colson? (Pretty sure that was his name.) I heard his name many times when I was younger associated with him being an exceptional pilot. (In the Middlesboro area.)

Edit: (Thought I'd search the name to see how close I was to my memory. (Just a senility test on my part.)

Read a bit to see Jack mentioned a time or two... (Under MASTIN, META KERR)
