D-League

Good morning folks of the D-League. It is 66.2°F here on our way to 82 with a 10 percent chance of rain.

My kids are coming down for the viewing and funeral for Jessie's daughter, so I will be busy, busy busy.

I would love to see the Cats beat the Gators, but they often lose to them in unbelievable ways.

Me....not so much...

You need to go to an orthodontist stat.

Took a selfie this morning and realized it was the first day of October. I change like the foliage during this month of the year.

Great improvement my friend! Glad you took my advice and changed your hairstyle to something more...civilian.
This man represents the feelings of so many who have fled Cuba for America. I know many just like him. I have had long conversations with them about life in Cuba under Castro. One was a very prominent doctor from Havana who had all of his wealth taken from him and he left Cuba in the middle of the night with his wife and children. He was working as a dishwasher in a restaurant after he arrived. He did that for several years as he prepared to pass his medical exam required to practice medicine in Florida.

Yet we have dumb and dumber people in this country dreaming of bringing socialism to our shores. If you know someone like that shake them real good and stand them on their head.

I don't for one second think that THAT man said THOSE words. But, I do agree with them. Democrats are so stupid that they actually BELIEVE that we can just allow everyone to come to America and it will still be a good place to come to.

If you are young, save your money and pay attention to where the GOOD country is. It will not be America! The powers that be have made it clear that we are going to be a One World Economy.

I may up living in Finland or Norwegia. I don't know for sure. But if I can spend my last years living someplace basically free from crime, race, or shipping from Europe, then I might just pull the trigger.

I'm thinking more of a cave in the tropics. Wife may not like it though.

My wife said something about moving to another country but, I told her I will die before I let us get totally too far gone. That way I don't have to deal with it.

You want to know what bugs the crap out of me with some these threads? Well, I am going to tell you anyway. I was on the Wildcat Lair early when someone posted Yahtzee! For a three star WR recruit that committed to us. Come on folks, that is not a Yahtzee type recruit. Not knocking the kid and will support him but, that is like posting Yahtzee for a 4 start basketball player.

My Dad always used to say, rub your mad spot. Still searching for mine, like having the heebie jeebies... Can't catch that sucker to rub it...

Good morning D League. Eventful 24 hours for my wife and I.

As we made the eight hour drive to Pigeon Forge from Maryland we get a text from our 24- year old fully vaccinated school teacher daughter that she has tested positive for Covid.

Lots of conversations later she has managed to assure us she’s not feeling bad at all, like a mild cold, so we decided to continue to the Smokys, with one of my wife’s RN comrades dropping in to check on the girl if she feels any worse.

Our cabin is lovely, and pretty swanky. Nice fireplace. Two jacuzzis indoors and a hot tub outdoors facing the mountains.

Pigeon forge of course is a chaotic mess but we found a nice place to have dinner. After a couple lemon drop martinis for my wife to kick off the vacation (I was driving so limited my intake to one shot of bourbon) she insisted we do a spiraling zip line jump off a tower. I’ve actually done a couple static line jumps out of an airplane, but this whipped me around worse than that. Old folks’ fun.

We’re headed out to see the mountains soon. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have had a busy week........tore out a 10' x 12' wood deck and replaced it with paver stones.....I had to dig 5 post out that were set 30" deep........then I dug the area down about 5" put 3" of crushed limestone down........I tamped it as well as it could be done with a hand tamper........then put my stones down......now I have to rebuild the steps and rails......the Director wanted round spindles.........not typical 2 x 2 spindles...........which is typical of her....she seems to like to test my skills on occasion..........when I was taking a break on that......I was also digging up my sweet potatoes......I have a bed that is 16' x 24' that I put 50 plants in......I dug over 275 lbs of sweet taters...I didn't weigh the ones under 1 1/2" in diameter........although they are good for eating.......they usually go to the ducks...........I have a pile of them that size (culls)........I have to dig the entire bed to a depth of about 18"..............I tried to explain to the Director that I was getting too old for all this work.........she said, " that I was too old be be whining like a child over a few little chores"...... as she called them.........so I guess I will be back out there and finishing up those steps when daylight breaks........she never like the wood deck in front of our brick pizza oven.......I thought about brick pavers when I first built the oven but decided that it would look more uniform if it was wood like the rest of the deck.........so I was wrong.....also the last time I cooked pizzas a ember popped out of the oven after we went to bed and burned a hole in one of the deck boards.......the treated wood isn't supposed to really burn but....this deck is about 8 yrs old...............we have a 600'' square ft deck with a 8' privacy fence around it and a 10' x 20' section under roof so there is a lot of tinder between the house and the pizza oven.......

The Cade's Cove area is nice and it isn't far from "strip"...........Have fun and here's hoping your daughter recovers quickly........my wife has over a dozen family members in North Carolina that have WuFlu and they were vaccinated.......one of her sisters had already had the third shot............

I have had this conversation with several friends. Now my friends are all older and much more conservative than the average American. I do not have any liberal friends. I only have a limited time left on earth so I do not associate with anyone who is insane liberal / progressive. If I was a young man I would but at my age I do not need stupidity and nonsense that being with a liberal brings. I found out in my long life you can not count on a liberal in time of crisis. They can not survive alone and need a government propping them up.

Now I will not be going anywhere at my age. When I moved back to Florida from Georgia I searched for about 3 years before I found the spot I wanted to live out my life. And I found it here. We have a Sheriff that will kick your ass if you break the law and act like a savage. I like that. I have nature and great weather. I like sunshine and living on the coast. We are seldom in the path of a hurricane or other adverse weather because of our location on the Central Gulf Coast. Plus we have a governor who will fight for us and has our back. And he is not all talk. He does what he says he will do. And we are allowed to live our life down here. But if I were a younger person I might leaves these sunny shores and find another country to raise my family because America is headed for a fall that will be historical as were the Romans and Greeks. Just open your eyes people.

Thanks Awf. That’s on the list. During my teenage years in Kentucky buddies and I drove down and camped in the Smokys a few times. But I haven’t been here in 40 years. And my wife never has. Looking forward to it.

Sir, I love and hate this post. (I don't hate easily.) I hate what this country has become... God Bless you.

Good morning, D-League! Let the Gator hunt begin!

I'm in some pain this morning after the work I did yesterday, which is a bad sign. Usually it takes a couple days to set in. Almost every part of my body hurts after turning 2 ankles while digging for hours. I'm not where I used to be in terms of fitness.

It's a great day though! Hope y'all enjoy it thoroughly and get some rest where you can. Prayers for those hurtin and healin. May His face shine upon you!

I hate it too BBUK. Bertfan31 made a post that got me to thinking about our future as a nation and I see nothing good in the future. Most people do not have a clue what is going on.

With that said it is Game Day and time for me to move along. Got the game face on.

On Gator Day, I always go to Chief Jim Billie of the Seminole Tribe. He knows how to whip a gator. Grab your knife and rope Cats and let's go Gator Huntin' under the lights

Good morning from ATX. Currently 71°F and somewhat foggy. Today's high expected around 88°F.

Our pup might have hip dysplasia. She took off chasing birds late yesterday afternoon and came up limping. Joint area of her left rear leg seems real tender to touch. She bit me last night when I tried moving her leg. Wife contacted our vet, but they are booked and can't get her in until Monday or Tuesday. We'll make her as comfortable as possible until we find a vet who can take her.

Happy Caturday! May the fumbles, penalties and pass interceptions fall in our direction. Go Cats!

Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

And all I did was stain my back deck..about 10x10. Put in 9 hours at work, cleaned the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed our upstairs. Thought I had a good day of work but you dusted my old junky arse off...(In my best Richard Pryor character voice.)

Speaking of work, I am headed outside to do a little clean up. Just got back from the hardware store to buy a replacement spool for my trimmer. I am going to trim out back, then clips a few volunteer palms and saw off some palm fronds then hit the pool and watch some football.

My wife is bringing me some ice tea now so I am wound up. I stream my TV on my cell phone so I can watch TV and cut away on the palms. Life is good

I've played Yahtzee and one does not yell Yahtzee at the sight of 3 of a kind. "Act like you've been there" is good advice.

Good morning! Gameday is finally here! ON ON UofK, we are right for the fight today!

Now for some interesting news from Floyd St...

The context in which these violations occurred is the largest complication for Louisville. The school has been in the throes of NCAA investigation for years due to violations allegedly committed in the recruitment of five-star prospect Brian Bowen. That blew up very shortly after the previous scandal: a Louisville staffer paying escorts and strippers to perform sex acts for recruits and players.

In other words, the succession of violations has barely paused—and certainly hasn’t stopped—for the better part of a decade. Among the many men’s basketball programs caught up in the Southern District of New York investigation four years ago, none brings the baggage that Louisville has. And now it has added to it, risking enhanced penalties as a repeat violator.

As much as I hate to admit it, we only have ourselves to blame. We haven't held up our end of the rivalry to make it "must see TV". Losing 11 of the last 14 doesn't do much for our brand.

I don't think losses to UK is what stained the brand.
