D-League

Hope all are doing ok. Went golfing today, after last Sunday’s first time in 20 years. Dang, I suck. Can’t believe how much length I’ve lost. But I’ll figure it out. Love competition, even if it’s me against me. To all in the D with health issues, wish you my best.
Amazing how golf is a game of timing. Hand/eye coordination. During high school and college I probably averaged at least 9 holes per day. Got fairly good to where I came close to a college scholarship. Then career started after college, got married, had kids and priorities were on the kids so golf went by the wayside. Played maybe one round in 25+ years. This Summer my son was up from Atlanta and we went out in one of our fields to hit some middle/short irons. I couldn't even hit the ball! Kind of like a Charlie Brown moment 😥

Morning D. Happy Sunday morning to you.
Sounded like some wind & rain blew through early this morning.
Laid on the couch most of the day & night yesterday...I think I was getting caught up from last week finally.
Played golf Friday, it was a little brisk but, like they say...I wasn’t at work. Gonna try to play this Friday also weather pending.
Hope all are well
Basketball is getting close...maybe.

Good Sunday morning

It is a beautiful Lord's Day We are 73°F with 93% humidity as we move up to 80° this afternoon. Clear skies and little chance of rain.

Have a great day, For you railroaders, I will leave you with my railroad picture of the day.

That’s exactly how I did at first lol. My wife laughed her butt off watching me trying to hit driver off the tee. I would swing and the tee would go about ten feet, and the ball would just drop to the ground.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 58°F, sunny and breezy. Cold front arrived earlier this morning. 73°F is our projected high for today. Nice, except for the wind.

Watched lots of football yesterday. Happy our Cats won, but it seems offense carried the defense. Cats play the Tide next Saturday at their house.

Chores and errands await here in a bit.

Wishing happiness and good health to all our fellow D-League members.

It is a windy 58.8°F and clearing skies. We got .33 inches of rain this morning. The wind must be gusting to around 30 mph. I have some limbs out of the cherry tree on the ground. This wind has taken most of the hackberry, maple and wild cherry leaves off.

On golf: I am horrible; however, I spent my career at the railroad in Sales and Marketing and we played golf with our customers a lot. They paid for my country club membership and we wore out the course and the bar and the restaurants. On golf, I never got good. At the time I worked at CSX we owned the Greenbriar. We would take customers there. Sam Snead was the pro and he told me twice that I should give up the game. I told him I would not and he had to play with me and my customers because that was his job. He was a fine man but crotchety as could be. Way up into his 70's he could shoot near par.

I think that the lowest I ever shot would be in the high 80's.

I have played since I was a kid. Lowest round was a 62 and still play to an 8 handicap. It was lower, but the back has raised it a couple of strokes this year. Hopefully, when I get the back fixed, I can get back down to a 4 or 5. Even if I don't, I will continue to play as long as I am physically able. Love it.

I will never forget the day I went over to my buddy's house and he had just bought one of these. He was banging away with it and the ball came off and knock a glass figurine off of a shelf. His mama grabbed it and smacked him good and hard on his bottom. Then she put the paddle on top of the refrigerator for further use. I think a lot of mamas did that back then

No need for one of these when I was little growing up. Belt took first place. Then when I was about K or 1st grade, Dad bought a Shopsmith. Saw, band saw, drill press, and lathe all in one tool. Then he made his own paddle(s). And for good measure he drilled holes in it....a little extra sting.

Think I was on the receiving end one time. Learned my lesson.

When I was little, I had a loose tooth. Dad wanted to pull it and I was scared, so I ran and hid from him. When he found me, he made me go get him a switch and he whipped my butt with it, then pulled the tooth anyhow. Needless to say, I didn't hide from him anymore.

Good Monday morning

It got down to 55°F last night and our high today will be 78°. The next few days will be a few degrees cooler. We expect lots of sunshine and a 10% chance of rain. Great football weather.

This should be a good week to work on my continued downsizing. I have so much stuff that I collected over a lifetime but it is time to move on.

I trust all have a great day and everyone is feeling good or at least better.

Not sure anyone has heard from FCC. Maybe Don, or Tapemaster. As for Ymmot, last time I spoke with him, he was still banned, by choice. He had been busy with some personal matters and he had not yet felt like asking to be reinstated. Maybe later.

Morning folks. We officially got down to freezing this morning. I think it is the first time this year. It has already warmed up to 45° but the high is supposed to get to 59. I am betting on 60!

On presents for my wife and I: it is impossible. We have every thing we want. I tell my kids to buy my bourbon that I am too cheap to buy. I end up with shirts that don't fit, pajamas that I refuse to wear. So I am a pain in the ass for my family to buy presents. I keep telling them that the gathering and family is what is important. No one will let it be just that so I will get presents that I don't need.

Thanksgiving will be at my house this year, but my daughter's family will be in Baltimore, so it will be half the family. Such is life when you kids get lives of their own.

You all have a good monday.

This is pretty much my life today. There is nothing I need of a material nature.

I have one child and his family in Kentucky and another one down here in Florida. We use to get together at Thanksgiving with all of us. But some have crossed the river of life and others have grown up and moved far away. So that too has passed.

That is life in 2020 America. Families do not take roots like they did generations ago. They move on to where ever the job takes them

I guess it is pretty melancholy at the holidays for you. I have been lucky in that my three kids and all my grandkids, are within a 10 minute drive of our house. We have been so blessed to see our grandkids grow up. Ballgames, birthdays, school concerts, tonsillectomy's, etc. We don't miss any of them.

On the road before 4am today heading to Nky to help out some family. Main bridge heading into Ohio had a major crash last week. Two Semi's hit and exploded causing major damage to the main bridge used for all that traffic.
Could be down for weeks. You can just imagine the traffic now. Goodness gracious.
God bless all today.

FCC calls me at least once a week but I don't answer. That may seem harsh, but I really tried to help him and I think maybe I was making things worse. Like I have said before I have never had even a sip of booze. But I have had to deal with an alcoholic in my family and it was a hard thing to watch. Every time I did talk to FCC he was drunk and all the money I spent to help him and all the trips I made to Paducah to take him to doctor appointments, to the pharmacy, to places to get him food, to gift card for Hardee's for food, to paying for his motel bill for a week before he could get into permanent housing, did nothing to improve his situation. It got to the point I was losing sleep over it.

In spite of that I would have continued if I thought it was helping but it wasn't. He is a good guy but really doesn't or isn't able to take any responsibility for his problems! Maybe I have went into to much detail here but just felt the need to let folks know he needs our prayers!
