You don't see a razorback floating down the river on a log every day.

Now we know, the horse's name was Jim. Come on cowboy.

I will never forget the day I went over to my buddy's house and he had just bought one of these. He was banging away with it and the ball came off and knock a glass figurine off of a shelf. His mama grabbed it and smacked him good and hard on his bottom. Then she put the paddle on top of the refrigerator for further use. I think a lot of mamas did that back then

No need for one of these when I was little growing up. Belt took first place. Then when I was about K or 1st grade, Dad bought a Shopsmith. Saw, band saw, drill press, and lathe all in one tool. Then he made his own paddle(s). And for good measure he drilled holes in it....a little extra sting.I will never forget the day I went over to my buddy's house and he had just bought one of these. When I was little, I had a loose tooth. Dad wanted to pull it and I was scared, so I ran and hid from him. When he found me, he made me go get him a switch and he whipped my butt with it, then pulled the tooth anyhow. Needless to say, I didn't hide from him anymore. No need for one of these when I was little growing up. Belt took first place. Then when I was about K or 1st grade, Dad bought a Shopsmith. Think I was on the receiving end one time. Learned my lesson.

Same here. As the years go by you run out of ideas.55, What I do for Mrs. M is, I get her a $50 or 100 gift certificate to her favorite place that she gets her hair and nails done at. She "she always appreciates it" easy shopping!!!!!!

This is pretty much my life today. There is nothing I need of a material nature.Morning folks. We officially got down to freezing this morning. I think it is the first time this year. It has already warmed up to 45° but the high is supposed to get to 59. I am betting on 60!
On presents for my wife and I: it is impossible. We have every thing we want. I tell my kids to buy my bourbon that I am too cheap to buy. I end up with shirts that don't fit, pajamas that I refuse to wear. So I am a pain in the ass for my family to buy presents. I keep telling them that the gathering and family is what is important. No one will let it be just that so I will get presents that I don't need.
Thanksgiving will be at my house this year, but my daughter's family will be in Baltimore, so it will be half the family. Such is life when you kids get lives of their own.
You all have a good monday.
This is pretty much my life today. There is nothing I need of a material nature.
I have one child and his family in Kentucky and another one down here in Florida. We use to get together at Thanksgiving with all of us. But some have crossed the river of life and others have grown up and moved far away. So that too has passed.
That is life in 2020 America. Families do not take roots like they did generations ago. They move on to where ever the job takes them
FCC calls me at least once a week but I don't answer. That may seem harsh, but I really tried to help him and I think maybe I was making things worse. Like I have said before I have never had even a sip of booze. But I have had to deal with an alcoholic in my family and it was a hard thing to watch. Every time I did talk to FCC he was drunk and all the money I spent to help him and all the trips I made to Paducah to take him to doctor appointments, to the pharmacy, to places to get him food, to gift card for Hardee's for food, to paying for his motel bill for a week before he could get into permanent housing, did nothing to improve his situation. It got to the point I was losing sleep over it.Not sure anyone has heard from FCC. Maybe Don, or Tapemaster. As for Ymmot, last time I spoke with him, he was still banned, by choice. He had been busy with some personal matters and he had not yet felt like asking to be reinstated. Maybe later.

In spite of that I would have continued if I thought it was helping but it wasn't. He is a good guy but really doesn't or isn't able to take any responsibility for his problems! Maybe I have went into to much detail here but just felt the need to let folks know he needs our prayers!
That is how I am as well. I'm picky when it comes to clothes. I don't want someone wasting money on something that I'm not going to wear. Kind of know that feeling, have a friend who lost everything due to gambling to the point where he could not pay his bills so, I gave him money to help pay his bills when they came due. Over the period of several years I gave him over $8 thousand and decided I could do it no more. He has since actually slowed down gambling to a trickle (girlfriend controls him) and has paid about $4 thousand of it back.FCC calls me at least once a week but I don't answer. You want that I should shawack him. 😉I know where you are coming from.
I quit answering his calls because he was constantly drunk. I am a drinker, but drinking and getting drunk are two different things.
I pray for FFC, but he has to want to get dry. Until then it will not work.
Sad how 'family' screw you over more than strangers. Guess they figure they're entitled or since they're family you won't mind. Same has happened with me. Before my mother died I was paying a few of her's and my stepfathers bills when they could not and when she died me and one of my other brothers paid for the funeral he had supposedly saved money for. After that he ask for money to build a deck around his double wide trailer in which I gave him $5 thousand to help get him some good material. He instead took that money and bought a used non operational RV and said he was going to fix it up and travel the country. Not long after, his trailer along with the RV burned to the ground. He bought another trailer from the insurance and ask if he could borrow more money for a deck. NO, I have since cut him off. His son, (my half brother) called me a few months back and said he (my stepfather) is not doing well (84) and we should be working out how we are going to pay for the funeral. By the way, he did not help pay for our mothers funeral because he had no money. He and his wife visit the gambling boats in Louisville about once a month and they go to Vegas twice a year. I told him it's his father and his responsibility to bury him. His response as always, "I don't have the money". I told him if you burn him I will pay half. He said that he does not want to be cremated so, I said "you're on your own then".
Oh and by the way John, those trailer stories are for you too.
Whole family grew up poor and only 2 of us actually did better because quite frankly, we were tired of living really badly. Not saying I am wealthy because I am not but, better than most in my family.Sad how 'family' screw you over more than strangers. My daughter and son in law live just a few minutes away, but my son is two hours away. That’s not all that far, so we still see him at least every month or two. Pretty blessed in that way. No grandkids yet, and may not get any. My son hasn’t married yet and says he doesn’t want kids. My daughter and her husband want kids but aren’t having any luck after trying for four years. Hope everyone is having a great day.I guess it is pretty melancholy at the holidays for you. I have been lucky in that my three kids and all my grandkids, are within a 10 minute drive of our house. We have been so blessed to see our grandkids grow up. Ballgames, birthdays, school concerts, tonsillectomy's, etc. We don't miss any of them.

I am the same about clothes. It would be a waste of time and money to buy anything for me. My wardrobe consists of cargo shorts, polo shirts and one pair of dress slacks for Sunday church. I also own a blazer and a couple of dress shirts. I have one pair of Wrangler jeans that I wear and 12 pairs of cowboy boots, most I have not worn in 10 or 15 years. Throw in a few "tennis shoes" and dress shoes and that is about it.That is how I am as well. I'm picky when it comes to clothes. I don't want someone wasting money on something that I'm not going to wear. To me, Christmas is about the kids anyways, I don't care if I get anything or not.
