We all know that stuff is called poke salit. I can't recall eating it myself but my mother made me go along with her to help pick it. We found it growing in coal mine slate dumps.

A twin song to Polk Salad Annie.

When i used to take trains from point A to point B, I used to always see these black fellows walking along certain hillsides with a burlap sack in their hands. I was stopped one day and asked them what they were doing and they told me picking Polk Salad that grew wild. I had no idea....

Just made a keto pizza for lunch. 3 eggs and about 4 oz of mozzarella cheese mixed together for the crust. 10 minutes at 400. Take it out and raise temp to 450. Put the sauce on along with a coating of parmesan, more mozza, pepperoni, bacon, red pepper flakes, oregano, and I top it off with a thin drizzle of tuscan herb infused olive oil.

I have forced myself to save a little less than half for later.

Sent my wife out to buy bourbon ( mistake one) with directions to find some Buffalo Trace.

Instead, she came back with a bottle of Larceny, a Heaven Hill product. I'm not the drinker I was in my 30s, and I'd never heard of Larceny and was highly skeptical. Maybe I'm just in the right mood, but it's going down pretty easy. Anybody tried Larceny?

morning D
Game day - sure hope we can win
Still a bit of a nervous wreck; I know what will be will be. I know my son is safe no matter what, I'm just worried about what's going through his mind with all this - honestly terrified he might just want to quit now. Been reading that they'll do all they can for him, physically AND mentally, but there is so much information it becomes confusing. So, trying to keep my mind off stuff and praying, praying, praying. I just wish we could find out what is going on.
@ymmot31 - sure hope you feel better soon. Hubby and youngest are down with some sort of crud as well. Hope our other ailing friends get better quickly too.
I think that the guys on here who have military backgrounds can tell you that they will be hard on your son, but they go out of their way not to harm him. My son survived 20 years in the Army. They took good care of him.

My gosh, polk is a local weed. I can pick a grass sack of it in 5 minutes in the pasture behind me. You just don't use the purple colored parts. The younger the better. Make darned sure you cook it.

I have not eaten more than 100 pounds of the stuff.

I just rob banks?:joy:

Watching Colorado-Nebraska. It's a clinic on how sports will build your character or break your heart.

It's 28-27 Nebraska. Twice, with that score, Colorado has gotten within FG range. Their kicker is a 31-year-old from Australia - the oldest college player. He hooked both wide left. He might get one more chance...

Got tired of being sick so I went out to the shop to do something. Ended up putting the drawer slides into the table for one side. Hard to believe but everything is as square and level as my tools are capable of measuring. How'd that happen? Wasn't too hard so I plan on doing the other side tomorrow before I forget what I did today. Might make the drawers tomorrow as well. Hope I do it with a smile on my face thinking about our big win tonight.

GO CATS!

40 minutes to game time. My confidence level right now is just so-so. New quarterback playing his first road game in Gainesville in front of a hostile crowd. There's always hope.

Speaking of hope, we've had a few brief power outages due to the storm. I'm hoping for no surprises during the game. Transistor radio is handy just in case.

One of the few close games today.

OMG. If you didn't watch Nebraska - Colorado you missed a hell of a game. As I noted before, the 31- year old kicker missed two FGs in a one- point game. Colorado was dead in the water, then got bailed out on a roughing call. The QB then dropped a passed in a tiny window and a guy made a great catch.

93,000 in Lincoln for Scott Frost's debut went totally silent. Now, the back-up, walk-on QB for Nebraska trying for a miracle with 32 seconds to go...And he can't do it.

I bought a bottle for our annual Christmas party last year. Some loved it while others weren't that impressed. I thought it was pretty good. There are better bourbons IMO but I can't really consider myself an expert. A hobbyist is more like it.

oh I know that darlin
I'm just worried about my boy - I'm scared he'll get a failure to adapt discharge. He's so discouraged right now and so homesick I think?. It truly sucks to get injured when you first get there. I don't want him to give up
