NCAA says #Syracuse basketball didn't adhere to drug program dating to 2001, but only stripped wins back to 2004. That preserves 02-03 title

So now that they have that over with, what is the NCAA going to do with the greatest scandal that has ever been?
Did ineligible players participate in each of those games?Originally posted by UofKBlue:
So 135 wins.Originally posted by Nubb16:

Anyone know how many games this will be?
The coach is suspended 9 games.Originally posted by MWes11:
I wouldn't classify this anywhere near to getting hammered.
I think that's when the investigation started. I'm sure Syracuse was on there best behavior then.Originally posted by UofKBlue:

That was 2013.Originally posted by CatEye2010:

That's some BS if that's all he is losing.Originally posted by KMKAT:

Of course not.Originally posted by CatPhight:
CBS Sports now reporting:
The school and Boeheim will also be forced to vacate its victories "in
which ineligible men's basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06,
2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12." Boeheim won 135 games in those five
seasons; 106 of the wins will be taken out of the record books. His 2012-13 team, which reached the Final Four, was not found in violation of NCAA rules.
Well, the statement from Syracuse says 24 games will be taken away from Boeheim.Originally posted by WACB:
How convenient for them that the 2003 and 2013 seasons were not in violation.

I agree. Of course he's already said his hands are clean.Originally posted by shockme76:
Such a weak penalty by the NCAA for a man who has now been caught twice in his career for cheating.

Yes. Same as the UNC**** scenario, if banner(s) don't come down, they did not get "hammered" to any degree.Originally posted by wildcatglenn:
Allegations go back to 01. Sounds like a gift
Thanks. I'd call that a heavy hammer except the 9 game suspension. They barred Pearl for years for much less. The total number of wins vacated may not be that significant, but the doing so is. If the NCAA does similar to UNC they could lose entire season's not to mention titles. With a decision on that likely coming in a few months it's not a good sign for our UNC friends.Originally posted by WACB:
Five years of probation from March 6, 2015 through March 5, 2020.
Vacation of all wins in which ineligible men's basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12 and ineligible football students played in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. The public decision contains additional details.
Fine of $500 per contest played by ineligible students.
The school must return to the NCAA all funds it has received to date through the former Big East Conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Suspension of the head basketball coach from the first nine conference games of 2015-16.
Reduction of men's basketball scholarships by three for the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. If the school has already executed scholarship offers for the 2015-16 year, the school may begin the four-year penalty with the 2016-17 year.
Reduction in the number of permissible off-campus recruiters from four to two during June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2017.
The panel also accepted the school's self-imposed postseason ban for the 2014-15 season, but noted that self-imposition of penalties after the conclusion of infractions hearings does not influence the outcome.
Additional self-imposed penalties can be found in the public decision.
I guess you didn't think we got hammered back in the 80s either.Originally posted by MWes11:

I think the NCAA is trying to protect Coach K's all time winning record with this crap. Boehiem is like 30 games back of Coach K.
I wonder if the folks at UNC** are taking notes on better ways to cheat?Originally posted by Smashcat:

Crazy detail in the Syracuse report. Director of basketball ops and others had players' passwords, would email their professors as them.
