Cuse gets hammered

Big nose might as well resign, no tourney in 2016 either and loss of 12 schollys for the next 4 years.

Poaching season now open on cuse commits.

So now that they have that over with, what is the NCAA going to do with the greatest scandal that has ever been?

For the record, you mean they won't make it due to sucking in 2016? Because I saw nothing about a post-season ban in 2016 unless I misread. If so, my bad.

"Over the course of a decade, Syracuse University did not control and monitor its athletics programs," the NCAA said in a statement, "and its head men's basketball coach failed to monitor his program."

Sounds familiar.

Jim Boeheim suspended last 9 games

suspended last 9 games and forfeit 3 schorlarships per year for next 4 years. the scholarships are a big blow but why suspend him for last 9 games of a season where he cant even make the postseason?? not a harsh result but not a slap on the wrist. sets up UNC to be destroyed

Two things.

First, folks at UNC are probably crapping themselves knowing they will get it worse. (And yes half of you will disagree and think UNC skates.)

Second, wonder if the ACC folks are wondering what they hell they were thinking merging with the Big East yet.

Good point. This is what happens when you let rogue programs like Syracuse and UL move into the neighborhood...combine that with UNC's massive history of cheating and Duke's cover-up of rape allegations and you have a conference whose supposed "Gold Star Programs" are actually a national embarrassment...

A SU site said they got hit with a 2016 tourney ban but have since changed it.

A self respecting school would clean house, they've been corrupt for years on end in a variety of categories.

"vacation of wins in which ineligible students participated"

Anyone know how many games this will be?

Three schoarships a year is a significant blow.
I guess. They don't have to start that until 2016-2017 season. They have to play with 10 scholarship players instead of 13.

Cuse fans are nervous it may go all the way back to 04.

For 2011-12-13-14.. And have to vacate wins going all the way
back to 2004!!!!! Boeheim might not even be in the top ten in wins when
they get done!!

This is one of the worst punishments ever handed
out iin the history of the NCAA. Remember JB's joking about it??
sickening.

2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12

Funny, fans and media rag on UK for doing illegal stuff and it's everyone else that is getting in trouble.

Five years of probation from March 6, 2015 through March 5, 2020.Vacation of all wins in which ineligible men's basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and 2011-12 and ineligible football students played in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. The public decision contains additional details.Fine of $500 per contest played by ineligible students. The school must return to the NCAA all funds it has received to date through the former Big East Conference revenue sharing for its appearances in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.Suspension of the head basketball coach from the first nine conference games of 2015-16.Reduction of men's basketball scholarships by three for the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. If the school has already executed scholarship offers for the 2015-16 year, the school may begin the four-year penalty with the 2016-17 year.Reduction in the number of permissible off-campus recruiters from four to two during June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2017.The panel also accepted the school's self-imposed postseason ban for the 2014-15 season, but noted that self-imposition of penalties after the conclusion of infractions hearings does not influence the outcome.Additional self-imposed penalties can be found in the public decision.

Syracuse investigation only took 10 years, we should have a UNC decision sometime around 2026.

Lot going on with so many schools being accused right now. Might not be a good idea to want so much damage done to them, we know most of the country wants to see the Cat's go down. Bad Karma is a *****!

How Pete Thamel, undoubtedly the biggest Syracuse apologist in history, reacted when he heard the sanctions.

Adolph Rupp just moved up on the all-time wins list...

My 2 favorite points as the NCAA starts investigating UNC:

Vacation of all wins in which ineligible men's
basketball students played in 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2010-11 and
2011-12 and ineligible football students played in 2004-05, 2005-06 and
2006-07. The public decision contains additional details. Fine of $500 per contest played by ineligible students.

I see Fab Melo played 63 games in 2 years.....wonder how many wins in those 2 years Boeheim gets to keep for him playing this kid? Weren't they undefeated most of the 2011-12 season before Melo was pulled?

I'm beginning to wonder if the NCAA even has enough employees to be able to investigate all of these schools recently. My goodness.

And yet he still wrote another BS article on UK on the way down.

IU's Tom Crean has just hastily arranged a net-cutting for this afternoon because IU didn't lose to Syracuse in the Sweet Sixteen in 2012 after all.

"During his time away from the institution, student-athlete 1 participated in an outside competition violating NCAA legislation. As a result, he was ineligible for the first 12 competitions of the 2002-03 season. However, after he served the suspension he returned as an integral member of the men's basketball team that won the 2002-03 NCAA Division I National Championship."

I think the NCAA is trying to protect Coach K's all time winning record with this crap. Boehiem is like 30 games back of Coach K.
