Crystal Ball Predictions: KU Now Leading UK for LaGerald Vick

I wouldn't exactly say Floreal is someone who will be relied on when the game is on the line or much less even when it has even started. Not many walk on's have played a great deal under Cal.

They beat us out for Wiggins, then Oubre and Alexander (even though we were pretty much loaded in the frontcourt and he wouldn't have helped us at all, I'll still give them "credit" for it), but it didn't really help them much.

wrong on Alexander, we dropped him and went all in on lyles. Oubre was never coming here to begin with.

seems like the kid visiting somewhere first would be when the crystal ball would tip one way or another? What if he gets to lawernce and thinks it sucks?

Floreal has walk-on talent. I don't really count him as a scholarship player

The question was how many scholarship players do we have right now.

We have ten. Floreal is on scholarship.

So we have ten on scholarship.

That fact has nothing to do with whether he has "scholarship talent" or "walkon talent." I was just letting the KU fan know that our scholarship count was actually at ten, not nine.

I didn't know we debated facts on here.

He could move back to walk on since he was initially a walk on player

That's not what he said. He said UK was his second choice.

wrong, your making stuff up now. Remember his douchebag move at his announcement, picking up the Ilinois hat and all. There wasnt even a UK hat on his table. Cal dropped him the season before when Lyles outplayed Alexander in a head to head match up.

Not making anything up. There is a video from one of the AS games, where one of the players was going around and asking everyone where they would have gone if they didn't pick the school they did. Johnson and Oubre both said UK. Know about what you are talking next time. Also, even if that is right about Cal dropping him, that doesn't conflict anyway. Meaning UK was his choice before Cal pulled back and he then chose KU.

My Magic 8 Ball has Vick to Popcorn State in a last minute change of heart in his recruiting saga. Orville Redenbacher is an outstanding closer. Knows how to butter 'em up.

Poythress
Lee
Hawkins
Willis
Ulis
Matthews
Briscoe
Skal
Mulder

Well to be accurate, there is also Floreal, great athlete fairly new to the game, and the walk on from Pittsburg, who is supposedly a Polson type, and possibly the Lumberjack coming in December.

Is EJ scholarship? He asked how many players were on scholarship for next season and I assumed EJ was not.

Kentucky doesn't need anybody else. Didn't you read where he said no more platoons? We are loaded full of talent now and adding more players will only force more players on the bench. IMO kentucky won't add nobody else until next year.

Right now scrimmages would look something like this:

G Ulis vs. Hawkins
G Briscoe vs. Floreal
G Matthews vs. Mulder
F Poythress vs. Willis
F Labissiere vs. Lee

Not sure how much of a challenge that would be.

Adding Vick bolsters the second team a little with him replacing Floreal.

I honestly don't think Cal is going to worry much about 5 on 5 scrimmages. I remember him talking a few years back about not liking to scrimmage a whole lot anyway.

LaGerald Vick's visit to Kansas State was "really good" per Team Thad coach Norton Hurd. Kansas tomorrow/Thursday, Kentucky Sunday/Monday.

The 2011 team did not have much to scrimmage against...did fine. The 2012 team did not have much to scrimmage against...did very fine. I think it is overrated as you mention at the end.

Until you have something happen then ur screwed. Don't say it doesn't, this past year Poy tore his ACL and then Lyles was out for several games with an illness.

So let's say same thing happens but this year it's Skal and Lee who are out. Doesn't look too rosey does it.
Seems like more years than not we have had some type of injury or somebody who couldn't see the floor.
Liggins suspended for a while, Dodson suspended and later kicked off the team, Kanter ruled Ineligible, Noel hurt, WCS hurt etc etc I could go on and on.
Yes usually teams who play 7-8 really damn good ayers who build chemistry are pretty darn good. Until they have somebody get injured and then get Into some foul trouble then they are taking a loss.
Good thing that Duke did not have a season ending injury and they never foul. One great thing about Duke is their back court is highly skilled and athletic. Not the best athletes but damn good and they are basketball players not athletes who picked up a basketball. Collapse on their big and they are going to kill ya from outside.

Who is going to replace Labissiere if he can't play?

You lose your stud, it's nearly impossible to replace them, regardless of who is on the bench.

I doubt we make it very far in 2012 without Davis, no matter who is on the bench.

We can't get worked up about injuries.

Even stockpiling talent (like we did this year), does not make a team immune to injury.

The next UK fan who offers a real, definable reason to worry about Skal's eligibility will be the first.

All I've seen so far is panic and hollow reasoning regarding him potentially not being able to play.

Floreal isnt scholarship worthy skill wise but being an elite athlete is beneficial for his teammates. Im sure the kid can play a little D....

I believe we were talking about injuries, not eligibility.

Right you are. My apologies.

That said, one could make that argument for any team, including last season's Duke team. What if Okafor had gone down?

Every team sucks in what-if-worst-case scenarios.
