Crystal ball for Magoon Gwath to UK!

If he can develop a post game (low volume 3 point shooter, he only hit .7 3s per game on 1.7 attempts), and perfect the lob finish, he can get his ppg in the 12-13 per game area. Potential to be a 12/8 with 3 blocks per game next year, and maybe continue to grow those stats beyond. He has battled injuries, so hopefully that is not a problem at UK, we have had enough of that.

I don’t agree that there’s anything wrong with acknowledging it’s ok if he transfers. Think you’re making quite a leap to say that’s a disparaging remark about anyone. I’m a big fan usually of your posts. I’ll agree to disagree with you on this.
I didn't call you out specifically. Only after you mentioned. There were others and they are in many threads outside of this one as well. And they aren't just about transferring.

No surprise you don't think it's wrong. Nobody is ever wrong these days.

Important thing is we’re all fans of the same team.

First - Love the idea of adding Gwath at either PF or C

I trust Pope and staff, but Folgueiras at PF seems a bit concerning from a defensive standpoint. He would offer essentially zero rim protection.

Now, if Pope gets Folgueiras as backup PF and can somehow also land PF Yaxel Lundeborg...that would be insanely good.
He would be fine at the 4 (Pope prefers shooting and ability to extend out to the 3 point line) provide scoring / rebounding if he had someone like Gwath at the 5. Now I agree if you had 2 similar players at the 4 and 5, but with a rim protector at the 5, I would much rather have a versatile 4. He averaged 14/9/3 with over 1 steal and 1 block per game. 15/10/4 with 1 steal and 1 block against Alabama's front line is pretty damn good. He had 5 offensive and 5 defensive rebounds against one of the better front courts in the college game. Alabama was super long and athletic up front. He more than held his own on BOTH ends of the floor.

I think pope will slightly change the system and make 4 to be offensive engine
I see him being a 5. He was not a high volume 3 point shooter, he only attempted 1.7 making .7, he is not a guy who will camp out beyond the line. Most of his points will come on rim running and put backs off of offensive rebounds. He is NOT ready to be made a focal point or run plays for him yet. he needs to be a lunch pail, do the dirty work (rebound, block shots, clean up inside on offense) kind of player.

I like 3 fives on the roster. Gwath and Alvaro are different types so we need Alvaro because he can shoot, pass, drive and rebound exceptionally well. Pope mentioned we needed different kinds of players with different strength skills so Gwath fills that shot blocking void and can help dominate the boards if we get a couple of the others we are looking good with.

Magoon has skills, lenght, can shoot, handle a bit, pretty versatile . He is going to be great next to Moreno, which I see stronger inside. He can play both 5 and stretch 4.

He had the growth spur 6’2 as freshman and 6’10 as Sr and then grew one more inch in college. He redshirted before last year due to surgery. He will need to get stronger but working on that. He was 185 when he got in college and now about 205. He plans to be 215 lbs by the begging of next season.

What I like about him, he has guards skills and IQ in 7 Ft body!!! He has a chance if he stays healthy and gets stronger to become really special. I can see him NBA in the future.

If Garrison stays he will probably play 4.

Moreno 5 / Garrison 5
Magoon 4 / Portal

I read earlier this kid was asking for 1-1.5 million. Impossible to confirm but that's what those who are in the business of knowing those sorts of things were saying.

In the highlight video I watched (TIFWIW), Gwath showed appreciable athleticism for his height and frame, including the ability to post up and the shooting touch to score even when forced away from the basket. What I really liked, though, was that because of his height, he draws a double team in the paint, and on at last one play he held the ball up high till the help came and then kicked out smartly to an open shooter. Respectable low-volume three-point shooting, but above all, rim protection: a sultan of swat.
