Crowd numbers in Nashville?

Crowd was announced as 42k+ and the announcer that the crowd witnessed a MCB first . The first shutout in the bowls history. Of course it was UK and Stoops dinosaur offense.
From TV, crowd appeared to be around 25 thousand or so.

Shame on Mitch Barnhart for accepting a bowl game playing at the same time as UK/UL basketball.

Incompetence at its best.

I guesstimated 35K, and will stick with that.

I think we had a 60/40 ratio of Cat fans.

So, I’m estimating we took about 20K down.

Agree. Looked about half or more. I think the giant stadium made it look more sparse then it was.

Side note, the massive increase in an already popular new year's eve trip to Nashville is quickly driving the cost out of reach for the average fan. Not sure how to combat that as it's just part of Nashville's astronomical growth

Maybe about 25-30k and slight edge to Iowa fans. They were definitely twice as loud as us. It really was a poor environment imo. There was basically no excitement or energy at all on UK’s side.
I went, but regret going. Poor showing by KY all around…fans, coaches, administration, team.

When Levis and C Rod opted out, there went half the big blue crowd, then the other half was walking back to their cars at the end of the third quarter. The bridge to town was busy. I've never seen such a terrible offense in any bowl game and felt like it was going to be that way.

Seems like UK football is often on the "short-end" of many such records.

Wasn't able to see the UK side but the upper deck on the Iowa side had a couple hundred people.

Paper said it was smallest Music City Bowl attendance since 2005 meaning it was likely the smallest crowd Kentucky ever took to that game. Looked like a pretty small crowd to me on TV

I agree with you on everything, but had some good moments with our little group, and I don't regret going. You had to know Stoops game plan. We just didn't know we'd have 2 pick 6s, that decided the game. All that talk about playing other quarterbacks and he didn't give us no chance at all. He did let 1 qb play the last series, but no meaningful minutes.

Nashville is just too damn crowded for me now. 400 dollar rooms, 10 dollar longnecks and wall to wall people isn't for me. I really miss the old Nashville of 20 years ago.

That's going to be a tough issue for that bowl going forward. Nashville itself is now extremely expensive and about double the astronomical prices on new years eve. Not going to be a reasonable cost for most football fans.

It's especially tough for old farts like me that started going to Nashville regularly in the 90s. I preferred it when it was way less crowded, buck fifty long necks, and reasonable hotel rates.
Liked it much more when it was a little seedier and more focused on actual country music.... instead of bachelorette trucks and bleeding people dry of their last dollar. I'm kinda over it.

Glad they picked Nash over Vegas. Travel at that time of the year in this economic climate is rough on people. And, some of our young talent got to play in front of a lot of family and friends.
Wait a minute! A UK Rafters fan who actually had some fun. Not a whiner?
Unicorn.
I salute you man.

I’ve seen where Nashville is projected to be another Atlanta in the near future. For better or worse.

i would say Charlotte was the smallest UK bowl crowd of any during the Stoops era, but this was by the far the smallest crowd weve ever taken to the MCB ever.

It was hard to spot any UK fans downtown the night before the game. yet Iowa seemed to be everywhere.

And sign me up for the not loving the new Nashville group. Used to enjoy going down there, now it WAY more hassle and expense than its worth.
