CRod- How bad is this???

He’s 21 (likely 22 or 23) which means he is an adult, not a kid. If this were a Louisville player, you’d be singing a different tune. He made a mistake and now he gets to have some consequences. We all did stupid stuff but we had consequences. Playing football does not absolve you from said consequences. Stop making excuses for this man. I knew not to drink and drive at that age. IMO, two game suspension with zero tolerance is sufficient. If you DUI twice, you deserve what’s coming.
First of all, my opinion wouldn’t change if it was a UL player. I actually don’t hold that type of grudge that maybe others do against rivals. If it was a UL player I most likely wouldn’t even acknowledge this situation at all.

Secondly, I have no idea how you construe that im making excuses for him. I said he’d be paying the consequence by the law. I’m fine with a game or two suspension. I was responding to the poster who said he should be kicked off team.

Your response to my post is extremely bizarre and a clear misstatement of what my position is. He doesn’t deserve to have his career ended by a dumb decision at 21.

Does paying for HOB raise the level of discourse to the point where it's worth the money? I've sort of wanted to jump in, but I missed the new years deal and haven't wanted to pay full price. I sort of have something stuck in my craw when it comes to the fact that key players have found themselves on the wrong end of these ridiculous legal situations the last couple of years. I also never quite got over the Lloyd Tubman situation, so maybe I'm sensitive. I don't even know the guy, I was just kind of astounded by that situation.

I usually only get pissed off at posters when I screw up and wander over to RR, but the C-Rod thing is bring out the worst of the board.

So again, is HOB worth the money?

Yeah, really.

Can Chris sue for damages if he has any financial fallout due to his dumbass lawyer not showing up to court on his behalf, or the dumbass court employee not notifying his lawyer? Because this bench warrant seems to be solely the result of somebody not named Chris Rodriguez being an absolute dumbass. If this happened in Athens, Knoxville, Columbia, Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge... you get the drift...half the court employees would be looking for a new job.

This board is ridiculous sometimes. Sometimes I envy pay boards. Way fewer people pay to troll.
Can he sue? Are you for real? Please go to the pay board.

Johnny Depp is currently suing Amber Heard on the grounds that his career was damaged by her claims in the Washington Post. If Chris Rodriguez gets publically crucified because his lawyer didn't show up on his behalf to a court date due to a miscommunication I assume there is money to be made in the age of NIL.

So my opinion is that HoB is worth it. Of course you get some insights from insiders like Travis Graf but the discourse is, for the most part, more reasonable and mature. I don’t even go to RR anymore because it’s like a bunch of psychotics spewing garbage. I think if you do decide to make the jump you'll be able to enjoy the more respectful and thoughtful discussion. There are still your annoyances, but it’s not as bad.

I agree, but what's that got to do with this thread?
CROD had his issues last season and doesn’t sound good going into this up and coming season with a DUI and missing a court date. Wright is getting high praise on KSR so hope he is ready to go.

Do you mean his ball security issues?

It's been made very clear that he is not responsible for missing the court date. I can understand why some want him to be treated severely simply for the DUI charge (which seems to have a good chance of not convicting), even though I disagree.

DUI is pretty serious and should come with serious consequences if he is indeed guilty. Two game suspension with a zero tolerance is fair, in my opinion. He needs to understand the severity of the situation. If a two game suspension isn't enough, then the punishment needs to increase exponentially. Ask Tina Tintor how "simple" a DUI is (or Henry Ruggs for that matter).

UK had changed it's policy when Jules got caught
if memory serves me correctly he did not sit out the season but did get suspended for some games

i will add that when Allison got thrown off the team there was a huge outcry from fans over the punishment being to severe
His stats show an entire missed season of zero games.

This happens in Athens and unlike the other places you mentioned it is not swept under the rug, we had a potential 1st rounder arrested mid season for sexual assault, not only was he removed from the team. Dismissed from school. School has a policy for DUI and first offense is 2 games, 3rd is dismissed. What we have issues with is driving without a license, not suspended, just never got one.

I like Chris but his dad is a idiot. Sometimes remaining silent is your best option.

Imo he held his tongue pretty well considering how many moron fans were rushing to judgment online. His son was doing as instructed and the lawyer screwed up. Not only did the lawyer screw up, he was silent about the screw up and let the nonsense run wild.

Yup. The original dumb stupid reactionary policy of CM Newton was DUI, kicked completely off team & scholarship for 1 yr. They adjusted it for Jules to just be suspended from games for a yr. Barnhart (gasp!) got rid of that entirely, think coaches handle this stuff now.

I've never joined because I am only interested in the FB portion & there was/is always more hoops threads such that I'm not going to wade through those to get to the meat. Seems if you pay, they ought to be able to sort the the threads by sport. That's all.

I think that’s fair. I know you can sort through the posts the mods label as football or basketball but yeah there’s no way to do it for the average poster. To be fair I also think the free football forum has much less riff raff than RR.

Oh goodness…are you serious?

Hammer the cop over a person driving a vehicle after drinking who was obviously failing to adhere to proper road protocols? Reads they Crod refused breathalyzer and had to take it at station later

The cop did nothing g wrong. Just because We like Crod and he blew the legal limit later does not clear Crod not indict the police officer
"drinking and driving" is not against the law. Being "under the influence" is what's against the law. It's sad how so many of you have already convicted the kid for "drinking & driving," which again is not a crime. I have tried approximately 15 DUI cases to a jury verdict in Ky. Invariably, the first thing I have to do in jury selection is educated potential jurors of this. I read the citation. The video will tell the whole story likely. The cops always say "slurred speech" despite likely never having spoken to the suspect before and often in spite of their speech being entirely clear and coherent on the video/audio. They always perform poorly on field sobriety in spite of what video may show. This is not a cut and dried conviction. He was dumb to having admitted to anything (you never say anything incriminating). The video will be worth a thousand words. And if it doesn't back up what the cop says in his report, then he'll be acquitted. It is not a clear cut guilty in this case. He ought to take it to trial.

Kentucky Open Container Laws

Kentucky takes the crime of driving under the influence seriously. Drinking and driving can have serious — and deadly — effects. In 2018 alone, 12% of all traffic fatalities in Kentucky were attributed to driving under the influence.
One way that Kentucky combats driving under the influence is through strict open container laws. In Kentucky, it is against the law to have an open container of alcohol in a place where either a driver or a passenger could access it. If you are caught violating this law, you could be charged with possession of an open container in a vehicle.
As a Lexington DUI defense lawyer can explain, while an open container violation may be relatively minor, it is still a criminal offense. Understanding the law and its exceptions can help you avoid violating it.

You're way in the know of legal details which I agree is vital to these proceedings.

1. He blew showing some drinking....so he drank something and was driving.
2. He refused breathalyzer at site...which if you're not drinking most people just take it in the field and dn't worry.
3. I don't think CRod is a bad kid....he probably just made a mistake and needs to stop taking those kind of chances.

I agree the video will be telling the story.

Who said you have to choose? How about neither drinking and driving nor texting and driving are okay. Texting and driving is illegal, too. The “legal” drinking limit as it concerns DUI will never be increased. As a matter of fact it’s been decreased, it used to be .10. They’re not going to go the other direction on it now.

The "breathalyzer" he blew into at the scene is not a breathalyzer. It is called a PBT (preliminary or portable breath test), is inadmissible at trial as it is wildly unreliable. No one should ever blow into anything or do any of the roadside gymnastics known as field sobriety "tests." Nothing in the field can be used against you. Refusal of the actual breathalyzer can be used as "guilty conscience" evidence and results in an automatic license suspension while case is pending. However, one can still get an ignition interlock license after refusing. So there's no real reason to do anything...unless you're a cdl or airplane pilot. Those regulating bodies have severe penalties for refusing or so I am told.

It is very minor. Like a $25 fine minor. Still "drinking and driving" isn't a crime. Trust me

This is a distraction we don't need. As for the charge consider me old fashioned but a court date for a DUI is a big deal, regardless of what his lawyer did or didn't do it is his responsibility to figure out when he is supposed to be in court. This isn't a 16 year old here folks ,he is a grown man.

You pay a lawyer to do his job. It is 100% on the lawyer not showing up. Not being rude but it the lawyer that fumbled the ball.

Nope. If your attorney says you don't have to appear, you're golden. Not his fault, period. If my attorney tells me my appearance is waived, I should be able to rely on that . It's only his fault if he thought he had an attorney, but didn't pay. It's not necessarily the attorney's fault, either. Some clerk could have given the attorney the wrong date.

Agree. Or at the least to confirm with the judge and/prosecutor the hearing is actually continued.

Of course mistakes on the clerk's/judge's side are always possible that's why the prosecutor is the backup; in case the court calls the case by mistake.

At least they got it fixed and it was just a PR hit. Way better than him getting that bench warrant served. Talk about an understandably furious client.

How do Limousines get around the open container laws?
Special ABC permit, probably. Gotta pay the piper special if you want to be treated special. That's just my guess based on the fact you have to go broke buying one for your wedding if you want to provide booze for your guests. At least it's that way in VA.

Could we hire Coach K’s grandson to come take the fall for our guys when they screw up, he’s gotta have a few points left on his license
