Congrats to my favorite SEC team

I always cheer for the Hawkeyes in Big 10 play. Brother of mine went there. Beautiful campus and great people. Keep up the greatness! Beat theOtherStateU every year!!!

I need to find a Kittle jersey

As a Bears fan, they won't take him. They hate drafting OL until they have to like last year.

Don't we know it. I listed the Steelers first, because I wouldn't wish my Bears organization on anyone right now. Steelers just drafted a center though. We need some Hawkeyes running that Chicago team. Slobberknockers need to make a comeback in the windy city

Just went to your board for a little bit. Lots of troll posts, finger-pointing, etc. Not gonna gloat because I respect you guys too much. Probably better for you to stay over here rather than bathe in all that negativity lol .... Believe me if we had lost the mindset on this board would be waaayyy different right now.

There are a lot of great fans and great fans that are angry. If UK had averaged, not finished once but averaged over 6 years, about 120 of 135 in D1 for total offense and the long time OC is the coach's kid would you be angry? Kirk has his fiefdom make no mistake.

Go find another Stoops.

Mark's getting a statue here and gets an automatic extension for 1 or 2 years at 7 and 10 wins a season, each with a 250k bonus respectively. And we're upgrading practically anything he asks for.

We intend to keep him here forever.
Don’t blame you. I can see him being to Kentucky what Hayden Fry was to Iowa. I’m proud he was a Hawkeye.

I hate to use the word “nepotism” but situations like what you guys have with KF and his son as OC is truly a double-edged sword. If it works beautifully there’s nothing better, but if not…..

Exactly. You are ungrateful for 10 wins all of a sudden and we have the 4th winningest coach in BIG 10 history. Yet, he is like the guy who screws a ton of ugly girls to get his count up. We win ugly by and large under Kirk but won a lot. Technically, Brian Ferentz the OC reports to AD Gary Barta but Kirk runs the show. He has donated many millions to the school and hospital and has been a winner. But we also get so close but then piss down our leg when it really matters. QB play and Kirk having mandates on how the offense will be run hamper us. He is the only coach in the nation who would have played Petrus the whole game.

I came here from the iowa message boards and you guys cheered me up actually

Thank you! I brag on us a lot, but we have a great board. Non-UK fans are definitely welcome (well except maybe for Tennessee fans LOL). Seriously you Hawkeye fans have been great and you’re welcome here anytime.
Thank you. Did I mention that I HATE ROCKY TOP? I barfed when we played and they killed us. That song all day long made me barf. So, I hated them ever since.

Congrats, better team won.
Pretty even IMO. You guys played us as physical and tough as any all year. We were a little thin with some key last minute sit outs on the defensive side and had to play some youngsters that got wore down by your physicality & the heat, but it was a great game.

He’s the Remington award winner and a top 20 pick as a center. He’s a beast and (assuming he leaves) will be sorely missed.

As a Bengals fan, I agree with the previous poster who hoped he’d end up there.

He is really good . The okay he got hurt on looked like he got blown up but what happened was he got doubled at the snap which caused him to stand up & lose balance for a second, then when he tried to reset his footing to get back his leverage he took a bad step & then crumbled down himself. That said I thought Bully & company did a decent job against him.

Not to mention the rest of the oline isn’t great. It would be a complete disaster if it wasn’t for Linderbaum. I’m surprised they kept your dline at bay as much as they did.

As a fellow Bears fan, I hope they fire Pace and Nagy at the end of the season. Pace has already screwed us for this year's draft and next. But I don't have faith in the ownership to make a competent hire.

I can’t post on your board but I read it some earlier this month. I was surprised by your offense after reading the comments there . I thought it was supposed to be just a “run it up the middle cloud of dust” type offense. But I actually thought today it was pretty creative. IMO no one has done as good as job on our big nose tackle as your center did today. I’m really impressed with that guy .

First, good win.

Our OC gets a lot of criticism that is underserved and that should be easy to see today. We have QB issues, but the guy that started today is the best we have. My view on OC and QB are mostly unpopular in our fanbase, and I’m not one to argue. Essentially I let other people be right until they’re abusive or cost me money.

We also have (for Iowa) a below average offensive line.

The OL played better today, the rb’s played well. The OC called a good game. The qb had several chances to win, and possibly even put the game away.

The secondary got torched. Not to say your wr isn’t good, but out all American got sucked in, and that was the game. That speaks loudly to how good your wr is btw.

That’s what I’m fairly certain I saw today. Obviously from an Iowa perspective, but I tend to be prettyObjective

None of this takes away from Kentucky’s win. They took advantage and did what any good team would try to do, except they did it.

Im not sure what Kentucky returns next year, but it’s pretty obvious that is a disciplined team. From my perspective I was encouraged about everything except QB, and I wouldn’t be surprised if our current number 3 starts next season.

It’s a bit more difficult for me to speculate as the last two seasons I haven’t gotten to attend closed practices due to Covid.

Oddly, I wasn’t at the game, but will be traveling through your state early next week to go back to Florida. I rarely miss games but lately I’ve had to be back to close the year.

Logan’s Roadhouse comes to mind. I bought part of a race horse on that place on the way back from Florida one year in a hair brained moved. I was a bit surprised the tow guys I bought the horse from were both democrats. It just seemed unlike most of my other experiences in that area.

Guys like me and people from your state aren’t that different. I enjoy the South. Sometime I stop to trout fish in the Smokey’s. I admit it does scare me to drive over Montragle Plateau though.

Best of luck and best regards to everyone, and I wish you all good health, peace and prosperity in the new year.

And yes, I’ll be in a funk for about 3 weeks due to your victory today. I travel to all home and away games, and follow my team fairly closely. Probably more closely than some other message board experts due to some relationships at the U.

I love Iowa as long as they aren't playing us. Great game today. Have so much respect for the Hawkeyes.

Funny you mention that, we did go through a spell with essentially a one dimensional offense and lacked any sort of consistent passing game. Fans here were very unhappy about that and apparently so was Stoops, so we went out and got an NFL OC Liem Coen and our offense become transformed into one with much more balance.

As you probably know, the problem when you run a run oriented offense is you can't get quality skill players, as elite receivers don't want to spend their career blocking, and QBs want to throw the ball.

To all the Hawkeye fans thanks for being total class. We seem very similar as teams so we can totally understand one another. I feel that we have all made some friends out of this bowl game that might stick for a while. Just remember it takes corn to make whiskey and lord knows we love whiskey in Kentucky. Best of luck my friend stay safe and Happy New Year.

Zero animosity for Iowa Hawkeyes and 100% Respect. Would feel the same even if we hadn't scored late to grab the win. With so many crucial players out for both teams it's hard to say who would have won if both squads were at 100%.
One thing is certain though...a LOT of SEC programs could learn a thing or two from Iowa and their fans.

I would love a home and home with Kentucky. Won't happen I am sure but it would be good for both programs. However, we have to play ISU every damn year.
It may if Stoops pushed it but i don't think he wants to because it is a lose lose for him personally ! You can tell how much Your University means to his whole Family!

At the restaurant I ate at, after the game, I saw a nice Iowa couple next to my table.

I offered to buy them a shot of good bourbon.

They said they didn’t drink.

So I offered to buy it for them and drink it for them.

That might be where the Southern phrase “more better,” comes from.

Loved interacting with Hawks fans!

[Did I ever mention I don’t much like James Franklin?]

Just reflecting on the game. Our Coach is the dean of College FB which means not much longer. Mark Stoops would be my choice if DC Phil Parker doesn't take it. Reason is how 2 guys in particular we know well, Robinson and Levis, were far superior players than they were at their previous schools. Just my observation. And Rodriguez was excellent too. Just really like your team and know you are only going to get better with your classes coming in. Hat's off. I just think it is a shame we never played before and how fun it would be to home and home. You play Louisville, we play Ames College (ISU). And put another tough even match up in there. Damn, we dance well.
If your main reason for consideration of Mark Stoops as head coach is due to the improvement of Levis and Robinson, then, respectfully, you’re giving credit to the wrong coach.

Those two improved from their previous programs due to Liam Coen. Most UK fans want Stoops to stay away from the offensive side of the ball. Just let Coen call plays and Stoops can jump on the Defensive side all he wants. He’s a very good defensive coach.

Iowa fans are all class. I loved the way your team competed. Also, Eff Wisconsin!

I told Iowa fans that if you give Stoops the opportunity to dig a hole on the 48 yard line, and have a mud wrestling match in the middle of it, he’s always game!

And that’s OK.

He’s “wallered” us to two 10 win seasons!!

Mark Stoops has, and will continue to be a lot of people's choice for head coach, but the probability of him leaving here is extremely low. He has essentially been given tenure by the AD and has a new 7 year contract over $6M plus bonuses, with automatic extension provisions that essentially lets him retire here.

Kentucky is Stoop's baby. We were the bastard step child of SEC football until Stoops came along and adopted us. He has build something that everyone else, including most of our on fan base thought impossible. Stoops and Kentucky are now joined at the hip. It isn't hyperbole to say that someday they will build a statue of Stoops and name the place after him.

Kentucky was once a stepping stone program, it is no longer. Stoops next goal is to win the SEC East, we just landed a top 10 recruiting class. There aren't many program out there right now that are having that level of success.

I'm sure Stoops has a lot of warm feelings for the school he played at for 4 years, but he also has a similar feelings with the school he has picked up out of the mud and coached at for the last 10 years. He recently referred to it as a "marriage".
