Our current 7 man roster better be the best conditioned team in the country next year.
Absolutely agree.How can some teams convince multiple positions players to come and we can't even get a f'n player to come here for the 5 spot.I mean seriously,if folks are banking on Onyenso to handle the 5 spot then they are living in fantasy land We have 7 players on the roster and only Thierro has division 1 experience and that's not a compliment either.I can only hope that there is some kind of plan in place to fill the roster and get help because it's a shit show currently.
I just don’t think 18 year olds can compete with 4,5 and 6 year seniors and grad students . Too great an advantage to overcome .
Yep that AAU mentality will not work against a veteran team that can handle pressure situations.Of course add in a Coach that also doesn't know how to handle in game flow and pressure situations and you end up getting what we have seen lately...mediocre basketball.
Spot on. Beard will probably do well in the SEC since he's the King of the portal. Kansas State was an ENTIRELY portal-built roster. Despite what Cal said, I think this is his last year as his one and done's wont be able to compete and he has no interest in coaching a roster full of guys that will be playing down at the YMCA after they graduate.

Regardless, not being able to sign a potential starting 5 and at least one other rotation player is very concerning. UK should be able to attract some veterans to compete and potentially be part of a winning team next season.
NIL should have helped UK a ton but it hasn't much at all as far as attracting quality transfers or even rotation 7 to 9th men transfers.

Hell I thought NIL would help us more than anyone.I mean Shaddy Sharpe got huge bucks to sit on his ass but here we are and can't seem to convince anybody to come here....
Maybe it's more to do with the coaching staff than anything or maybe not but it doesn't make sense when you consider everything.
Reeves is working out with Kobe brown today, maybe. If he is truly back he can do some recruiting

Reeves KNOWS that Cal will place him on the back burner and only use him when ABSOLUTELY necessary. Reeves also KNOWS that Cal will treat him a WHOLE LOT different than the Freshmen guards next season. He will be expected to knock down 3's as soon as he enters the game and if he doesn't, back to the bench he will go.
Reeves KNOWS that next season his role will be diminished on top of having even MORE pressure to perform in a SHORTER amount of playing time. That's why he is REALLY considering going to the G-League.
However, looking at his 3 pt shooting since the Arky game, something has effected his shot. He has STRUGGLED to make them. Can he get it back at UK??? Maybe he thinks he could get it back EASIER as a pro, without Cal CONSTANTLY yelling at him.

Team after team at all levels is showing that works. But Cal only wants guys he can send to the pro's so we are sort of held hostage until he's gone. I won't bash him as he's brought me so many good times, but I'm definitely ready for change.
I think the G league possibility is real..... makes me wonder if Cal wants him back.
Agree if you gave me a choice I would take kobe brown everytime. But the most likely is tolu smith, he seems like a good player and if he enters Kentucky could do a lot worse
Has it ever occurred to you Ky could have easily taken the best shooter available and reeves wound have ti deal wjtb repercussions of not firmly committing back to Ky?

Kentucky should be able to beat a g-league salary, or reeves chooses g-league or overseas that to me says he is ready to be done with school and just ready to move on
Cryer, the Taylor kid from Marshall recently, Kentucky has numerous opportunities to go get somebody and make the others make a decision but cal played to reeves and Oscar’s decision and know he is screwed if either decides they want to leave
EVERY kid that comes to UK "wants to play". It's Cal that decides WHO gets that benefit and A LOT of times it doesn't go to the player that deserves it the MOST. Word is getting around that's how it is here with Cal. So it is getting HARDER to attract a team FULL of players.
I understand Reeves position but it needs to be a two way street. We need to protect ourselves, if we have a player looking we need to be looking. If we can find as good or better we need to sign them

If you read my whole post you'd see that yes I did and pointed out why cal is at fault for the way he handles these situations
