Come on down Big Cliff???

I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that some tbink EJ will go, which is just.....dont have the words

or the fact that some are asking if we need a big because EJ might come back...which is just........

Cal surely we can do bette than this man.

Our team next season should have elite scorers. Give me Omoruyi along with EJ and or Jackson/ Ware at the 4 and I'm very excited about the frontcourt.

If we get him, we will still need a grad transfer big man. He can be a really good player 2-3 years from now, but probably too raw to contribute much (especially offensively) next year
UK won't need him for offense next year. Defend the rim, rebound, and get some put back dunks. Plenty of scoring coming next year. Plus he will add much needed depth if he were to come.

Considering how well Reid Travis and Nate Sestina have worked out both for the program and the players (both have spoken extremely highly about their experience here) I can't imagine Calipari NOT going the grad. transfer route again for our 3rd (or 4th) big man. These guys have been the perfect blend for our team the last two years and Blackshear would've been in the same boat had he came here.

Yes, and I reached out to Kate Upton today.

Patiently waiting.

Is EJ definitely turning Pro after the season? If not, do we really need another Big?

Do we need to have a center on the roster? Because if we don't sign him or someone like him we won't have one. EJ isn't and never will be a post player just like everyone we signed (who are all about EJ's size when he got here). We will be in a world of hurt next year if something doesn't happen soon on the recruiting front.

I just don't understand how we can have 3 of the best bigs in the NBA (before the Cousins injuries) and struggle this much signing a single one now. If things don't improve with recruiting post players, then Coach Cal has to change his offensive philosophy. We can't keep relying on undersized grad transfers that play below the rim.

Take this with a grain of salt but I’ve heard from someone close to the program that Cliff Omoruyi reached out to the UK staff today. Supposedly things may be getting rocky at ASU very soon and he is reevaluating where he wants to play next year. I sure hope this is credible , would be a big pickup for us to add another big for next year. I don’t typically share hearsay but the person who told me this has never steered me wrong in the past. That being said let’s go stomp the Vols tonight!
Dave Jr?

Until he gets an offer from UK then I have no comment but if he does it's no assurance that he will come to UK. He is a project.
He played in a big game over the weekend and scored three points. I'll pass.

I thought Jackson was a kid that could play in the 5 spot? He is ONE INCH shorter than Big Cliff and much more refined as a player. Cal is REALLY selective in what type of Big he recruits. They MUST be able to play the Pick-And-Roll/Pop, guard on the perimeter AND block shots. Since the game has evolved into perimeter dominated offenses, Cal has wanted athletic Bigs over traditional Centers.

However, he also states constantly that any team without a Post presence is a FRAUD. So, I too am puzzled as to why we fail to attract the type of Center Cal likes. His first 5 years here we got our top target and most of them early in the process.

Jackson is just 200 pounds so I can see him getting beat up in the SEC.

Roselle Catholic 4-star Cliff Omoruyi details ‘great’ Rutgers official visit

Roselle Catholic big man Cliff Omoruyi visited Rutgers multiple times unofficially over the past year, but the consensus four-star prospect saw a different perspective of the school on his official visit this weekend.

The aspiring engineering student got a tour of the school’s engineering building for the first time on Friday. The tour was led by redshirt sophomore center Myles Johnson, an electrical and computer engineering major, who also hosted Omoruyi at one of his classes, giving him a first-hand view of the academic opportunities in his major at Rutgers.

“It was great,” Omoruyi told NJ Advance Media.

Omoruyi was hosted by sophomore forward Ronald Harper Jr., a fellow New Jersey native who chose to stay home and join head coach Steve Pikiell’s program. He pitched a similar message to Omoruyi during the visit.

“They need me and I’m gonna be a good fit,” Omoruyi said of Harper’s message.

The weekend’s visit was interrupted briefly on Saturday night when Omoruyi travelled up north to Kean University for Roselle Catholic’s meeting with The Patrick School in the Union County Tournament Final. There, he received plenty of Scarlet Knight support.

Pikiell, alongside assistants Karl Hobbs and Stephen Hayn, sat courtside. Harper, Geo Baker and a handful of their Rutgers teammates sat on one side of the bleachers, while a pocket of members of the Riot Squad -- the school’s student supporters group -- sat on the other side.

They chanted “We want Cliff” during the starting line-up introductions in similar fashion to their serenade at the Rutgers Athletic Center when he attended a game against Indiana in January.

Omoruyi was disappointed with his personal performance -- 3 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks -- as Roselle Catholic fell, 56-42, but said felt the love of the Rutgers fanbase that came out to support him.

He returned to Rutgers following the contest to complete his official visit, the third he’s taken thus far. Omoruyi officially visited Auburn in the fall and Arizona State last weekend. He plans to take other visits, though none are currently planned.

Omoruyi said he does not know when he will announce his decision. He tweeted on Wednesday night that an announcement date is coming soon.

Omoruyi included the Scarlet Knights in a list of the final five schools he is considering along with Arizona State, Kentucky, Auburn and UConn.

Agreed, from my understanding he is the 4th option for us next year. So not a priority at this point, but who knows what happens if we miss on the others.
Who are the top 3 options over him?Sounds like Banchero wants another year of high school.

I would take 3 points 11 rebounds and 3 blocks from my big man all day long but that’s me

Agree. We will be back to very young next year and a Grad Transfer's maturity would be a welcomed sight. I mean the last 2 years we had Sophomores (Great ones like PJ) or Sophomores and Jrs, but next year we just don't know. It could be just a few Sophomores that haven't played much and younger than the last 2 years.

I really hope we can continue the trend and add one next year with all this young talent. I wouldn't be opposed to a PG and a big Grad Transfer to help steady the ship. The talent is there, but if EJ and QUick both leave it will be a team with no guys that have really been in it. I really hope EJ and QUickly come back to lead us to a title. If so we just need a Grad Transfer big and we are good.

I recall a thread back in December (I think) about two 6'10" Maryland Terp players who announced they were transferring. I think they're twins maybe. Is there any more news about them? Or are they not worth even considering for us?

LOL what? We have a 3rd best PF in country committed in Jackson , a criminally underrated Ware and well Fletcher's tape speaks for itself. Not to mention Brooks coming back and IF EJ did he would have as good a year as Nick is having now as he is much more naturally talented then Nick. We would be freaking loaded in the front court with those guys. Now I think the chances EJ come back are slim with how he has been playing but if he doesn't we need one more elite big man . Jackson will be fantastic from day 1 and Brooks will be a great player too but we need 1 more guy with some beef to him. Banchero obviously is the dream but Cliff or the like wouldn't be a bad back up.

Also EJ was a borderline draft pick last year and he was bad . He has been REALLY good the last month and while many of the things he does don't show up on a stat sheet the scouts notice.

Posts like this remind of how in the summer the LOD were dismaying the front court and how we couldn't win anything with them as if they had no conception of how players grow and develop. Richards is a 2nd or 3rd AA , EJ has been great the past month and Sestina knows his role and plays it well. Brooks is still learning but we see in spurts how special he will be next season.

Cane, I’m even less thrilled about the scenario I laid out now that you’ve added your projection.

This kid would be great for UK..... after his 4 years at Rutgers as a graduate transfer. Hard to see him being a major contributor anywhere in his first 2, maybe 3 years.
