Neither game is the most appealing game of the day. As others have stated, it's a business decision. ESPN feels more people will watch due the "greatest rivalry in sports" and due to Flaggs great white hope stardom.
Are you sure they pick them before the season? Cause I absolutely know they don’t in football. Not sure what you mean. They pick the Basketball destinations before the season starts for whatever reason. Before they knew Cal would crap the bed. The storyline was still there and still is despite Arkansas being a dud. UNC has been a dud this year too, but any opportunity to showcase Cooper Flagg outweighs any bigger storyline with ESPN.
Bingo there really isn’t any angle you can look at and say it make sense .Not sure what you mean.
That is true and they will just go for the second time too because they haven’t been there 100 times already.I was understanding at first, but then I realized they could have easily gone to the next UNC/Duke game later in the season. Calipari returning to Rupp for the first time happens once.
We didn't get it because Seth Greenberg is a baby back bitch lolHad a chance to show up for one of the biggest storylines in College Basketball this year with Cal returning to coach against UK and the whole Mark Pope story as well and they choose to go to Duke/UNC. I know Arkansas is fairly pathetic, but so is UNC. I know these sites are selected pre-season, but Arkansas was projected to be a lot better than they’ve been and the Cal/Pope storyline had been established. Way more eyes would be on it if it was at UK.
Game day goes to Duke UNC every single year.On SiriusXM radio today they were ripping ESPN for the choice to go to Duke/UNC. Quote -- I don't give a rat's ass about Duke/UNC. I enjoy watching Flagg but UNC is terrible. So is Arkansas, but this is about the theater/drama of Cal returning to Rupp --this is like a reality tv show.
So the point is--neutral college hoops observers in this instance are much more interested in UK/Ark than Duke-UNC. Greenburg is wrong.
