Yeah, let's go back to no shot clock. No 3pt line. No freshman eligible. Ahhh yes, the good old days. Might as well go back to 2 refs a game too. Put UK games back on delayed broadcast.
Explain how it has "killed" the college game. Do you mind when young college golfers go pro after one year? How about tennis players? What about high school players going straight to minor leagues on MLB? Has that also killed those sports? If so, how?Welcome to the end of the thread where what you said has nothing to do with the topic. Let's just let it rest that some don't mind the fact players leave without that much investment into the program and some do. In my view it's killing the overall college game.
It's officially an amateur glorified d league. I'm sorry it's just the way I feel. Cal is doing what he should but the system is broke and appears to be a little corrupt (officiating).
I'm not sure I'll ever appreciate it like it was.
I noticed you didn't answer one question. Maybe you and Bob Knight can get together and talk about how good things used to be.Killed" is past tense. Killling, what I said, is the game is being water down with players like Simmons, ball, etc. it doesn't matter to them about tradition of their schools or if they lay an egg in the last game. Luckily we have a coach that tries to instill that in them the tradition of uk basketball, which right now is overshadowed by the love fest of if we get bamba.
That's why I don't watch the NBAIn the 87-88 season, the NBA salary cap was $6M. In 97-98 it was $27M. In 07-08 it was $56M. Next season, it's $102M. That means the money per roster spot has gone from $400k (about $850 factoring in inflation) to $6M. That's a huge draw.
College basketball isn't dead, but it's pretty easy to see why top talent started skipping college altogether, and now try to get pro as soon as possible. Get a 2 year contract and you'll make as much money as the average person makes in a 40 year career.
Sooo don't watch.Killed" is past tense. Sooo don't watch.
I agree. That would please me mucho.Normal people have conversations, but maybe I can rip out my eyeballs for your pleasure.

I've said for a long time that the elephant in the room with regard to the NCAA and major college basketball and football is the total hypocrisy of it. That these particular 'products,' specifically elite programs, are still being presented as an offshoot of academics is laughable and insulting. The ruse is about over though as it's become almost impossible to ignore what is really going on.
That doesn't mean I don't like watching these products, especially UK, because I do. But you are missing the point if you insist on pretending your favorite school happens to have a sports team you like. In many ways, elite sports programs have become much bigger and more powerful than the schools they represent.
On a related note: Calipari, as a by-product of his success in recruiting - all within the stupid, hypocritical rules currently in place - is leading the way in exposing the NCAA (in basketball, anyway) for what it is. And the NCAA can't bend much more before it breaks.
No sport means anything in the big picture, which makes your woe is me attitude even sillier.Link UK for killing college basketball. I see the headlines now.
This sport means nothing.
Actually it sounds unoriginal. This is gonna sound snarky, but I mean it. Go follow UL or UNC or Villanova if you can't stand seeing kids pursuing their dreams earlier than you would like.
