At the podium speaking now. Some quotes from the luncheon:

Jon Hale ‏@JonHaleTCP 7m7 minutes ago
Stoops: "Feel like we have a good football team. Getting better every day." Says 30-40 guys stayed on campus during May for extra work.

Jon Hale ‏@JonHaleTCP 8m8 minutes ago
Stoops says Patrick Towles "probably has a leg up right now" in QB job but they will compete throughout the summer and fall camp.

Kyle Tucker ‏@KyleTucker_CJ 43s43 seconds ago
Stoops said in addition to guys who stayed, they asked the full team to come back a week early and "they're all here," almost 100 percent.

Kyle Tucker ‏@KyleTucker_CJ 8m8 minutes ago
Stoops says UK will be "significantly better" this fall than his first two seasons.

-----

Very encouraging that he sees the team as being significantly better this fall than the first two seasons. Sounds like things are falling into place for us.

Thanks man for the update, this is good stuff.

Thanks for posting great to see coach is so positive about his team.

It's going to be a fun year.

Reece Phillips should be ready mid-August. Difficult to find game to fill UAB absence. Stoops expects UK to be significantly better
.

Stoops is not one to sugarcoat things so sounds like him and the staff are starting to see some of the fruits of their labor over the last 2+ years in recruiting, coaching and strength training. Can't wait to see what our guys look like with 4-5 years in the program. 5th year seniors should be significantly stronger than any 5th year seniors we've previously had.

Well that's bad news for all the 5-6 win nay sayers on here.:football:

It sounds like Stoops is expecting his streak of massive improvements in year 3 to follow suit. Happened with his defense in Arizona, jumping up 90-100 spots in rankings, happened at Florida State, also jumping around 90-100 spots in rankings, now let's see where he takes Kentucky, not only defensively, but as a whole. The man knows his football, and you're correct when saying he is not one to sugarcoat things. Very excited to see just how much UK improves.

Saw Marrow in Nashville during SEC bball tourney and he said, "Go ahead and get your bowl tickets." I'd say they're pretty confident they'll get 6 or more wins.

This staff is not one to sugarcoat. If they expected this team to only get 3 wins, they would tell us. I think they are saying all the right things they should be saying for a program on the rise. The statement about what Coach Marrow said in Nashville gets me pumped. I think they know we are on the verge of being something special. Almost to the point where the roster is all Stoops players.

Stoops used to use lingo that suggested we were working but just didn't have enough firepower to compete at a high level. But he sounded like he thinks we got a chance in every game this year and he is noticeably more excited about the team.

He also said they play to win each game and that a bowl bid is a reasonable expectation.

I didn't realize this. Very Impressive!

I'm glad to get FB news from Stoops. But I must admit part of me wishes he'd thumbed his nose and skipped the event like he did last year.

The event was far more relevant when the farm was first on the schedule. Too much football is played between now and the last game to make this relevant to the UL game.

Yes, year 3 has historically been very good for Stoops defensively. Maybe he seen something that he is incredibly confident in, which explains a full-time switch to the 3-4 defense, rather than multiple D.

Coach, you got me so pumped I wish it were opening day!!!!! thanks guys for the update.

They can win 6 this year and still be significantly better. I expect a bowl season, but I don't think we win more than 7. I do expect no more games like UT or UGA.

Keep your conservative mentality. I'll take 7-8 wins before bowl season. If they were "significantly better" this past season, they would have won 7 games (the 5 that they did win, and then Louisville and Florida).
If we were even barely better this past season, it would have been 7 wins.

This year is hopefully the beginning of the emergence of the UK football program. Once we start winning, bowl games follow, more recruits start listening to what our coaches are offering, and the cycle just continues till before you know it UK is playing in SEC championships and New Years Day bowl games.

2016 may be our real breakout year where we are looking at a 9-10 win season and Towles is getting talked about for the Heisman. This year I'll take 7 wins and get that nice bowl game with hopefully wins over UL and Florida.

I do agree that we will have a pretty good football team, and I,m no Louisville fan, but if we win this one we will have beaten a more than pretty good team. Ky . could be real special by year end & Rivalry time!!! GBB!!

I am getting more and more excited about this team. I do believe the defense will be better; and I think that Coach Dawson is making a big difference. Go Cats!!

Sounds pretty simple.

This is something that should have ways happened and there's really no excuse for why it hasn't. I'm just glad Kentucky seems to finally be taking football seriously.

I've been hyped up for this season, but Coach's comments really have me jacked up. He doesnt BS the media. If he says we're much better, then we are.

Well, the tail end of your comment should tell you why Kentucky has produced bad results in football for so long.

Stoops does not sugar coat things, but also knows this is year 3 and fans should start to have expectations.

Will take 5-6 years ,to have redshirt jr/sr lineman,to compete like Mizzou does!

Not necessarily. Our line is experienced now, and we're finally building quality depth to follow suit. We should be pretty good there this season.

I love our team and hoping for 6 wins or better but as long as you have been around deeefense, you know in most years you could say that same thing about 90% of the SEC teams. That's why it's difficult being in this conference, it's always at the top or close in recruiting nationally.

Statistically, the SEC was way up in terms of overall efficiency. The highest average net efficiency in the past 5 years at least. It was at a level that's not sustainable for a conference actually. Between the loss of veteran players in the conference, half of the SEC losing their starting QB, and a couple of offenses that we actually play against being nearly whitewashed, 7-8 wins may very well happen.

I saw some flags with SC coaching staff 2 years ago and last year they seemed to regress despite back to back to back great classes. I'm not just talking about our game with them but I think SC drops another rung on the ladder this year.

Qb play overall in the sec is gonna be bad. I agree with rhavicc. Don't care what the polls say the sec will not be as tough this year. Some teams will be but not the league as a whole
