Coach K to have knee replacement surgery. Duke cancels Dominican trip

Do you think the Duke-flop goes away when K retires?

It's all him. I'm not sure it goes away immediately. But they won't be able to pull this stuff a. because the new coach won't teach it to his level. b. they won't spend half the game yelling at the refs like K does and c. they won't have his clout. I really think that program takes a nose dive..

In all reality, real Duke fans are nit a huge base. They don't have the passionate foundation of other great programs. They will absolutely nose dive and if anyone wants to see Duke officiated game without K, go back and watch Capel running the team. Officiating was night and day. And Capel is the next coach of Duke.

They are the next Indiana.

How long will he be out for his nose job?

That's a big time surgery and rehab deal. I have a bad knee myself that needs it. Definitely no K fan, but sympathize with pain. Wish him the best with that.

Maybe so, but there was absolutely no need to cancel the entire trip because ONE guy ain't up for it.

He's got an extremely highly paid assistant coaching staff, at least one of whom (Capel) has been an D1 HC before (at VCU and Oklahoma), does K think that not one of his assistants was capable of stepping in for him here?

Funny, he didn't seem to have any problem with an assistant stepping in when he bailed midway through a losing season back in 95, but he won't allow it for a summer exhibition tour?

He probably doesn't want Capel to pollute their minds. That guy is a horrible coach and I really think that was part of their problem last year along with having 2-3 guys who were a cancer to team chemistry.

I'm going with this as the most logical explanation.
Plus, some classic and creative comments in this thread. Haha.

The old bastard is breaking down. Just think ...in 30 years he will be retired.. He is 70 or so now. Hopefully I live to see the day. Somewhere between now and 2047. lmao you cant coach Duke forever mfer.
They will die out just like UCONN.
Fight it all you want. Your done soon enough. Jeff Capel lol

Would have been a huge boost for Duke to get the extra practice time and bonding time with such a young team.
