This was BYU's first Zoom look of the night. They actually run four players in the action with three off the ball on the left side of the floor, and Aly Khalifa handling at the top. Trevin Knell is the first cutter. He comes off a pair of screens from the corner, but instead of coming for the handoff he short curls to the lane off the second screen. This is because Kansas is switching every screen, and they have a defender waiting on the top side of the second screen. Before he gets to that player Knell curls. That defender should have stayed with him, but he stays instead. Knell is wide open under the basket. #15 Richie Saunders was the first screener. Now he is the second cutter. When he comes off a screen he is picked up by two men. Kansas is lost, and they know it. Johnny Furphy scrambles back into the lane to find Knell. #25 Nicolas Timberlake should have gone with Dallin Hall because he is the only defender left, but for some reason he drops into the lane and covers nobody. Hall is wide open for the pitch into a three-pointer. All of the movement without the ball totally confused all of the automatic Kansas switching on this possession. But the short curl by Knell against the switch put the Jayhawks on skates right off the bat.
