Clinic on how not to close a game.

Yeah free throws cost us tonight also you are correct. Also I really thought at one point they were gonna stop letting shooters kick their legs out on a three to draw a foul. Seems like that’s happened multiple times lately.

Turnovers, no block outs, bad shots, not tough with the ball. Travis Perry should not be guarding Johnson with the game on the line. And if he get stuck on him you double him. As much as I like this team they are really frustrating. I get it no Butler or Robinson but you had the game in hand and give it away.
I wonder if the fact that we were missing our top three point guards has anything to do with giving it away? Some people just don't understand how tough that is to overcome. And then add in the fact that one of the point guards we are missing is the top defensive player on our team. Pretty easy to figure out

Missing out top-3 PGs didn’t keep us from getting a lead heading toward the final TV TO. The team simply sucked the last 4 mins.

Just poor substitutions and lineups the entire second half. Brea gave us absolutely nothing but he continued to ride him. Carr struggled and isn’t 100% but has to rebound better. Almanor and Noah played the 5th and 6th most minutes but produced better than guys who played a lot more minutes but were out of the game most of the 2nd half. We turned them over in the zone but went away from it. Just frustrating.

Led 69-64 with 3:55 left

We led 69-68 with 2:30 left when Perry inexplicably threw the ball from the backcourt right to a Texas player then fouled him and he hit both FT's.

That was the turning point of the game.

You can't lead by 5 with less than 4 mins left and throw the damn game away like that.

It been one thing if they took it from you but you just gave it too them.

This is the kind of loss that stings for us all and ruins all our nights

This. I'm so disappointed right now.

2:30 mark was huge. I literally had turned to my son and told him that Pope needs to call time and get us a good shot! Those timeouts aren't near as effective once your down 6 a minute later!
I like Pope and want him to be successful, but tonight showed me he needs to grow if he wants to get to championship level coaching. I've seen some great stuff from him. I also have seen some bad concerning habits. Playing with intensity consistently is concerning. Putting the right guys in the critical moments is another.
How he self reflects and adjusts will determine how he will do here!

Brea played the most mins tonight of anyone and never hit a shot, Noah has earned those mins especially when Brea is 0 for like tonight. And pope has to have more plays than dribble handoff and back doors, I bet we had 5 or more turnovers from the bigs throwing back door when it wasn’t there. And why did we never double Johnson especially at the end??? Make someone else beat us but then we made another all American out of mark or whatever his name is, just frustrating to watch us give that game away. Won’t be shocked at all if we lose 1st rd of ncaa with or without butler and JR.

Agreed with your post until that last line. I believe with Butler and JR we win that game EASILY and also our 1st round tourney game

They gave the game to Texas and watching one guy get 3 rebounds over 3 of our guys was beyond infuriating, especially when we give up a and 1.

The 4 point play was the back breaker and our guys gave up in the last 2 minutes of the game.

We went scoreless for 6 minutes and still had the chance to win the game.

I would like to file a missing persons report because Brea has disappeared since his clutch performance against Tennessee in the away game.

Noah and Williams played their asses off again and what did they get in return, the rest of our guys failed them.

This team is lazy, no drive, no hustle, no energy, no effort, and I could go on and on, but at the end of this game we literally handed them the ball with that sloppy as hell performance in the last minute.
