CI Wrestling Thread #56

Two things from first segment on raw, one good and one bad IMHO.

1. The E’s production is on another level. The camera shots during Cena’s promo were insane. Somehow you could see everyone in that building.

2. The Cena thing might have jumped the shark. He’s mad because the crowd hated the spinner belt, lol? He could have talked about ‘Cena wins, we riot,’ or something similar. But he mentioned that one belt. And where is the Rock? I thought at least he’d be doing videos and the like.

So if they are doing iyo vs rhea next week then it won’t be a triple threat at wm?

I feel like a bunch of these matches are just kind of thrown together without much thought which is severely lacking my interest this year.

I'm confident the biggest and most talked about story since Cody's story hasn't jumped the shark after a few weeks. Fan response can attest to that.

Cena isn't only mad fans didn't like the spinner belt but it was mentioned because it became the belt and back then, that one title represented wrestling in America and many places around the world. Two weeks of promos make it clear whatever he did was never good enough. In his mind, the fans are terrible and he's rejected them. You're not going to get lots of Rock this year because he doesn't have a match. Who would he cut promos on when it's Cody vs Cena? He's not Cena's mouthpiece, just a background character.

Cena turning heel ain’t turning sour in 2 weeks.

With the lead in from NCAA basketball Collision did 554,000 and a .20 on Saturday and 584,000 and a .22 on Sunday.

Smackdown did 1,454,000 and a .39. Sure that was down due to basketball.

Friendly reminder new season of "Dark Side Of The Ring" premiers tonight at 10:00 pm featuring Mick Foley and the Hell In A Cell Match.

Curious, since I don't have Netflix was Raw that bad last night. LaGreca and Bully Ray on Busted Open said other than Cena and Cody everything else wasn't very good. They never talk bad about WWE programming anymore.

I watched the opening segment and fast forwarded over everything else until the main event.

Basketball postseason has severely hampered my wrestling consumption.

I just finished Smackdown this morning. I hope to start Raw this evening, but it seems like it was a meh show.

I am currently 3 weeks behind on AEW TV and don’t really feel like binging 12 hours of AEW programming, so I probably will jump back in once the Cats ate eliminated because for me, it’s wrestling season from April-September. Lol

I’m that way during football season I normally never watch WWE from August to about January and then I pick back up some after that.

1 - Yes UK being in sweet 16 has lessened my viewing of AEW/WWE but figure I’ll catch up eventually

2 - Rumors are Guilia had visa issues that are resolved and was hidden as an “injury” if so that explains her miraculous comeback

3 - SRS noted Charlotte basically stiffed Tiffy on that SD exchange knowing what Tiffy was going to say beforehand so Flair effectively is trying to be disliked but I guess she’s wanting to do business on her own

I’m also bad about it in the fall.

I usually drop to Dynamite and Smackdown, skip Collision altogether. I only watch Raw if I don’t care about the MNF matchup or will catch it the next day with heavy fast forwarding.

The good thing about wrestling is you can always read results in 5 minutes if you miss shows and want to stay current.

According to PwInsider, TNA had a bunch of folks leave today including their Head Of Creative Ariel Shnerer, and Gail Kim who headed Talent Relations.
Several other corporate level folks are gone too.

Hunter "Delirious" Johnson will head creative now and Tommy Dreamer will help.

I love Dark Side but unsure why they're going back to the Hell in the Cell match. That, DX, Austin/McMahon, Rock's rise, nWo...it's been done to death.

I have no interest in current popular music or what constitutes as a celebrity now but I can't shit on WWE for putting focus on WM week with current artists/celebs and trying to gain interest from those who may not be counting down the weeks until Mania. The goal has always been to take over a large city and copy Super Bowl week. Wrestling already has the market for older white guys into 80s rock who look like they haven't seen the sun since 1995 cornered.

SRS saying they are all fired. Firing Gail Kim is so incredibly stupid. If she is still unemployed in wrestling by the end of the month then it better be by personal choice. She’d be a great hire for any wrestling company.

Delirious and Tommy Dreamer running creative, lol

Fightful and Tokyo Sports saying Mina Shirakawa leaving Stardom end of this month and heading to AEW

Fightful also reporting Mariah May could be in a contract year. They were unable to confirm if there are any option years on her contract or not, but an AEW source said they would be shocked if there wasn’t.

Gooooooo!

Forgot to post this here earlier, Andrew Zarian said on his show today that AEW will be running a four-hour TV special at some point during the time of the Stanley Cup Playoffs

"The Fed."

So Swerve had been in The Fed for a few months, got a decent reaction on a 205 Live, and then didn't want to go back to the PC? It's amazing what he's become several years later but he's either trying too hard to shit talk The Fed or he actually believed he'd get pushed onto the main roster because he had a match on a taped show no one watched.

With who he turned into and now a multi-millionaire once fired by Vince, he can flex, but that's a pretty unrealistic flex and makes it seem like his attitude wasn't the best at that time.

Why are all these people currently under AEW talking about Wwe? Is it seeking some sort of validation from the wrestling fanbases at large?
Do you understand the concept of a question?

Why not ask the same question about all the ex-AEW people under WWE contract that constantly get asked about AEW? Is that also seeking some sort of validation from the the wrestling fan bases at large, or does that only apply to people of one company? Like JAde and Cody have actively complained about all the AEW questions they get asked and answered.
