CI Wrestling Thread #56

It was fine but wasn’t great.

Mox was rambling again.
Trios match was ok.
Bandido beat up a jobber.
Rosa was ok.
Mone was awful on the mic as usual.
And you with an awful take as usual

I freely admit that the only people mentioned that I know is Mox and Sasha but I honestly don't know how anyone sees Sasha Banks as being a plus to a company. I'd don't care about the peter measuring stuff. Do I prefer WWF over AEW? Yes. Do I think AEW is hokey try hardish? Yes. Am I glad there is an alternative? Yes. I just don't think she is that good. She is the size of a 9 year old, not very good on the mic, and I personally don't care for her work. Opinions vary though but to me, attitude goes a long way and she just doesn't seem to have the best. Different strokes for different folks.

Can’t imagine thinking this way watching Lawler/Dundee………. I couldn’t get enough of those two.
Ya I agree about those two but it was a completely different feud than KO/sz.

Creative can’t get these 2 away from each other and it’s always KO manipulating sz and sz always falling into the trap - they retell the same story over and over like no one remembers it the time before.

No lies detected…

Eric Bischoff harshly criticized AEW, claiming it has become a dead-end for wrestlers' careers. When asked to name three AEW stars who might be in a better position by the end of the year, he bluntly responded, “None of them. That promotion is circling the toilet bowl.” He attributed AEW’s struggles to poor leadership, lack of creative structure, and an absence of vision, arguing, “There’s not a chance any one of those talents is going to be any more valuable as an asset 12 months from now than they are today or that they were 12 months ago.”

Bischoff went even further, declaring, “It’s the place where your career goes to die. There’s no exceptions to the rule. If you have one, I’d like to hear it, but I don’t think you do.” He listed stars like Mercedes Moné, Adam Copeland, and Christian as examples of talent who arrived in AEW with momentum but have since stalled. He also dismissed Will Ospreay’s impact, saying, “The supposed best in the world, Will Ospreay, is a bust. He doesn’t draw money.” He argued that AEW caters too much to a niche audience that enjoys flashy wrestling moves, stating, “If you’re one of the small percentage of the audience that just loves wrestling moves for the sake of wrestling moves, because it looks kind of like the video game you play, you’re happy as hell. The problem is there’s not enough of them to build a business around.”

Bischoff criticized AEW’s direction, claiming it alienates a larger audience and devalues its stars. He pointed to MJF as an example of mismanagement, saying, “Look what’s happened to MJF, for crying out loud. That was almost too hard to screw up, flat as can be.” He also took aim at Jon Moxley’s current run, stating, “Jon Moxley, are you kidding me? Death Riders, whatever that is, it ain’t working. The only thing that death is riding is the audience away from the product.”

His comments painted a grim picture of AEW’s future, arguing that no talent in the company is currently increasing in value and that its creative approach is actively pushing fans away.

EB is trolling with some of that. There's plenty of issues but the guy looks silly being so dramatic when WBD seems happy right now. For me though, the kicker is when you compare AEW to NXT. No one talks about it and AEW fans would rather avoid it, but here's the last several weeks:

766K>605K
827K>604K
812K>655K
779K>679K
798K>615K

Dynamite hasn't beaten NXT since 11/13 and that was 666K to 631K. Max won't give specific numbers but even if you add another 50K to Dynamite, it still isn't close. Compare NXT's roster to what you see on Wed. and Sat. nights. That's...insane. It's like a slightly better version of Sunday Night Heat beating Nitro. There's your number one talking point, Bischoff.

Only thing Eric Bitchoff knows how to do is kill and get fired from wrestling companies, so anything he says to do then you should do the opposite.

You are comparing ratings of a show exclusively on free tv that’s available to everyone in the country and a show that is being broadcasted simultaneously on Max and TNT/TBS. That’s like comparing apples to roast beef, not even in the same food group.

Fightful did a poll for how people watch AEW now. It got over 15,000 responses and 60% of them said online instead of cable.

Comparing the ratings of the two these days would be as stupid as comparing Netflix’s global ratings vs. Smackdown’s cratering ratings on USA.

Also, for the millionth time, advertisers - which is largely the reason they even exist to begin with - don’t give a shit about total viewership. It’s a pointless metric for them. No one bases their advertising purchases on that. If they did, then FOX News advertising slots would be worth significantly more than they are. Instead their advertising slots go at bargain bin rates despite routinely being amongst the highest watched cable tv network outside of ESPN.

Could have said that about heyman but he’s still doing great stuff in wwe - past shortcomings doesn’t equal irrelevance.
And yet Heyman is still with WWE and has been credited with doing outstanding work for them for over a decade now in his second stint.

Meanwhile Bischoff was a one hit wonder (NWO) who is selling mortgages because every major wrestling company that signed him either fired him or refused to bring him back because of his incompetence.

And Bischoff is especially disingenuous because he’s has begged Tony for a job before and been shot down. Have to take any gripes he makes with a grain of salt.

It tells you a lot about how bad Bischoff is for your wrestling company when these companies will recycle anyone well past their “expiration date” to make money off of them. Hogan, Flair, Jericho, Edge/Cope, Goldberg, Schiavone, Jim Ross, Undertaker, Sting, 75 geriatrics in New Japan who refuse to retire, etc.

Doesn’t matter how shitty they are as a performer and/or human being, if there is money to make off of them then a tv wrestling company will work with them.

Yet Bischoff has largely been unused, damaged goods since TNA told him to sit his ass at home for the remainder of his contract in October 2013.
