CI Wrestling Thread #56

That stuff with Britt and Mone was awful. Maybe it will turn into a Goldberg-Lesnar thing where the London crowed boos both of them.

Enjoyed MJF and Fletcher and the main event. Rest was ok. Maybe the most interesting thing happened afterwards and didn't even air.

The good news is the rating was up from last week. The bad news it lost over 300,000 viewers from the start of the show to the end. Haven't seen the quarter hours but best guess folks tuned out once Jericho came on.

TIL there are Chris Benoit truthers. The comments on Facebook under WWEs RIP graphic are full of people saying Kevin Sullivan murdered the Benoits and framed Chris

So far the only thing promoted for Smackdown tonight is:

Roman Reigns returns.

Which in theory could take up the whole two hours.
20 minute entrance. 5 minutes holding the mike in silence. 5 minutes of him talking. 5 minutes of fighting with the other bloodline. 20 minute rage march or something. And that is close to an hour right there.

Now we've got more things, the first two will probably take up at least an hour

Roman Reigns to appear.
WWE United States Champiob LA Knight celebrates.
Andrade vs. Santos Escobar to crown next top contender for WWE United States Championship.
Jade Cargill vs. Alba Fyre
DIY vs. Pretty Deadly to crown top conteners for WWE Tag Team Championship.
The Street Profits vs. A-Town Down Under.

- The Sullivan conspiracy emerged immediately following the murder-suicide. It was mark fans fantasy booking a real tragedy because Woman was with Benoit and Sullivan played an over the top satanist in the 90s. Two thoughts: Sullivan was very creative and believable in his role and wrestling fans can be so gd stupid. Don't work yourself into a shoot, brother.

- I've actually enjoyed Andrade lately and crowds have been responsive to him. He can be a solid mid-carder if they don't forget he exists.

- Someone on a stream brought up the Drew/Perry photo. They said Drew looks like a wrestler and Perry looks like a happy fan taking a photo with the wrestler. And Perry is supposed to be a "bad boy." Ratings aren't what they should be? Look at who is constantly being pushed. LA Knight would look like Brock next to the Bucks and Perry.

- Obviously not a big AEW guy but I still remain largely unimpressed. History won't be kind to the Elite "takeover" or turning Okada into a onenote comedy act who coasts in big matches. It's also not a great sign that most fans just assume AEW's biggest stars will eventually be in WWE. Their most complete story is Storm/May but unfortunately copying a couple old movies from the 1950s won't bring in new fans (and those are fantastic films but still...)
