CI Wrestling Thread #56

It's the old-school idea that you put squash matches on TV and have teasers to attract people to the live events where you give them the big matchups they want to see. It's a business model that is outdated by 40 years, but certain people are stuck in the past. Hell, WWE usually has multiple matches between people before they meet each other at the PPV, but I don't see the people complaining here being vocal at all about that.

Then you haven't read any of my post in this thread. I have complained multiple times about it. 🤣

Ya I think we are all tired of the 50/50 wwe booking - just not complaining about it anymore since it keeps happening

I enjoyed Punk/MJF, but it didn’t leave me wanting to see an immediate rematch like Danielson vs Omega or Page. It served its purpose in giving MJF a big win, and hopefully pushes Punk in a new direction.

We work towards an MJF-Hangman feud for the title. Then MJF and Punk in a year or so.

It was a great match. I didn't like the ending but I am sure it is just setting up more for a rematch at a PPV with the Wardlow face turn.
Yeah at this point you have to assume the turn is going to be PPV. They playing the real slow burn with this one.

Dynamite had a pretty big drop from last week doing 954,000 viewers and a .35 in the 18-49 demo.
It was third in the demo behind South Park and the NBA.

Will be interesting to see the quarter hours when they come out.

Lol being reported that wwe people are warning Tony Khan about bringing Shane in. That he has no idea what kind of ego Shane has.

Damn wtf happened over the last week that made things get this bad with Shane and wwe?

In summary Shane said he’d only put Brock over in the rumble / wanted to give himself a megapush + feud with Rollins / didn’t get his way and threw a fit

Look like AEW may be looking to bring Keith Lee in. Honestly I'm more interested with a New Japan invasion and I wish they'd work that out first. I want to see some of these guys from Japan that I don't normally get a chance to see.

Austin Theory is taking Shane's spot in the Chamber. Could it be they are really working everyone to set up a feud between Shane and Vince's protege Theory ?

I think Keith Lee can be a star. He is the one recent release I’d bring in for sure if I was AEW.

Someone pointed out something interesting, when WWE released wrestlers in November you saw on social media all kinds of well wishes and sympathy posts from other wrestlers on the released wrestler's accounts, even Nia Jax had other wrestlers posting on her social accounts. But not one other wrestler to my knowledge posted on Keith Lee's social media, to wish him well/say they will miss him. I'm not sure what that means, but take that as you will.

Kendrick is the type of stoner who gives other stoners a bad rap.

I'd like to see Punk align with BD and Moxley. Call themselves "The Main Event" or something like that...
or they could be the Three Amigos.....

I think MJF is super committed to kayfabe so we will never hear about it, but I would bet that the conversation between MJF and CM after that pin was pretty epic. Great move by Phil to do that job.

What the hell does that mean I wonder. The impact stuff didn’t really do too much and we’re still dying to see more NJPW in AEW. The forbidden door kinda flopped a bit for me, not gonna lie. Well… I take that back. I got to see Suzuki vs Mox live, so it was a great success. So I did lie.

The tweet is kinda cryptic in nature but like someone said many of the wwe layoffs have their 90 days already expired including Keith Lee

Well TK apparently has an announcement on Wednesday. I have no idea what it could be. Another show? Another title? Trio titles? I have no idea.
