Cats vs EKU tues...

Slugging percentage for the game was .828 I think. With OBP at .555.

The bad news is 5 earned runs this game. Good news on the pitching side no HR's, BB's, or HBP's

Excellent game by the Cats. Several pitched in relief so there was no stress on the bullpen.

Did not expect there would be, anything can happen in baseball, especially in a mid week game, but UK is light years better than Eastern.

Awesome game offensively. Love our team going forward. I do have minor concerns about our midweek starter in games against solid teams, though I don’t think we will see the offense that showed up against Xavier again.

Still struggling a bit to find the midweek go to. I'm ok with it. Usually I want us to develop at least 4 starters. That doesn't concern me much this year with Hakke basically being able to be the 4th.

After tomorrow we will have 9 midweek games left. Of those, Louisville, Xavier and Indiana will be the teams we have to worry about. So, that's 4 of the 9 remaining. We will have 3 more midweek games before we get to UL, so Harper has a chance to grow up a lot before we get to the toughest games.

Still... looking at Harper... he went 4.0 and gave up just 1 earned against Evansville. Short outing, but he recorded 8 strikeouts and gave up just 1 walk. He started against Western and went 5 full giving up 3 earned. The good things about that were that he gave up 0 walks and those three runs were on just 3 hits. So, it seems like he had a bad inning. It happens. Today he got a pretty big lead and then kind of relaxed I think. Still, 0 walks. So, just 1 walk in 14 innings. That's very solid. Hits need to drop. He's averaging one an inning. Worse are the extra base hits. 5 of those 14 hits are for extra bases and that's where he is getting hurt. I think those are fixable.
