Cats / Tigers - UK Opens -2.5

I have confidence in this team. I feel like it's gonna take more than Clemson has to knock them off. It's tough not to be overly optimistic with how they've started on offense

If Clemson can slow the game down and force us to play in the half court they could win. Wouldn't be a bad loss if it were to happen.
We have A genius though. A motivational freak and win by 6-10

-1.5 on fanduel.

I’m gonna stay away from it. Gonna be a wild environment and I think a few of our guys might not show up for this one.
No disrespect to the literal fighting Clash Peterses, but this isn’t Georgia State on the day after Thanksgiving on tape delay with Rob Bromley on the call. This is a road game against an ACC opponent on prime time ESPN. Walk me through your thinking here.

The only thing is you'd definitely want to grab 1 of these games this week. And that's the easier one.

I feel like this becomes a big game in that regard. I'm not sure we want to go to Gonzaga staring down the possibility of 0-2.

Not the end of the world of course, we just want as many resume building wins as possible.

The home team gets bumped in just about every matrix (Vegas, KenPom, BPI). Anyway you look at it they all believe this is close to a toss up. I don’t know anything about Clemson, but interested to see how are guys do in their first true home game.

Agree here, but also want to add that if we lose tonight, it might be a little worse than we think. One for the reason you stated - we don't want to go into Seattle staring at a possible 2-game losing streak after starting off 7-0. If we lose tonight, people will start questioning if we're as good as we thought, or if it was just cupcake land with a neutral-court (Catlanta) close win over Duke.

We win tonight and lose Saturday in a tight one, all will be fine. We lose tonight and then again Saturday, it'll be funky time until we can rebound in the last half of December. But there will be all sorts of pessimism going into the brutal SEC schedule.

All that said, I don't think we lose tonight or Saturday. Frankly I think Clemson will come in ultra tight and determined so much to prove something against #4 that they flail. Yeah, they're mostly older, experienced players like us, but all of their E8 starters are gone - this isn't the same team as last March.

I still stand by my Cats 81, Clemson 67 prediction.

Gonzaga - let's see how tonight goes and how we look and then I'll think about that game.

I seem to recall gamblers around here saying that the usual "bump" for being at home is 1-3 pts, depending on the matchup.

Like you, I don't know much about Clemson other than their stats and games. But they got walloped by Boise St - yes, an away game - but it would be kind of a surprise to me if a team that couldn't handle Boise St. can suddenly hang with and even beat the #4 team in the country.

Guess we'll see later tonight!

And a staff that actually watches film, scouts teams, and properly game preps.
This is what the big difference this year, I don't think any of the former staff from last year watched film of the teams we played if they did it was very little. Pope IMO is a much better coach preparing the players for upcoming teams we play. I feel good about this game tonight. May be close but I think we will win.

They'll try to keep the game in the 70s. They were an Elite Eight team last year losing to Alabama for the Final Four in the West Regional. Defense not as good this season.

Ya'll, VEGAS does not set the spread based on where they think the outcome will be, they base the spread based on where they think the money will go (to as close a 50/50 split as possible). If the $ is split 50/50, Vegas wins. The further away from 50/50 it is the higher the risk that Vegas loses. UK, KU, Duke, UNC will almost always get more $ bet on them to win thus, their game spread are likely adjusted a bit from what Vegas thinks the outcome will be. So I think Vegas thinks it is pretty even (-1 to 0).

I wouldn't touch that line to be honest. Not to say we can't win, I think we can. But I have also seen some good UNC and Duke teams go into LittleJohn and come out with an L. Should be a fun game either way and we will learn more about this team and this season.

Now Clemson +1. Much more in line with the analysts seeing this almost a tossup.

What on earth would make you predict that "a few" just won't show up? Are you running around here just being contrary on purpose?
What? lol

Relax brother.

What on earth would make you think Im going around just being contrary. Do you know how to check my past messages? Try it. Don't be a toolbag because I gave an opinion you didnt like.

You just walked yourself through it. First road game in a hostile environment.

My statement might have been a little harsh, but I pretty much stand by it.

Man....I didn't predict a loss or anything lol
