Cards choke

Nah, it fits. Just like Houston or Cincinnati or Auburn that's who you are - it's endemic.....

Two words, Mojo; Selective Obliviousness.

UK fans aren't in denial, they're just very selective about the reality they accept.

This will not be a popular opinion on this board, but right now UofL athletics as a whole is in front of UK.

I think that is really hard to say. In 2013-2014 UK finished 11th in the Director's Cup standings. We were actually the third SEC team in those rankings. Louisville was 30th.

In 2014-2015 Louisville and Kentucky were actually both tied for 37th in the Fall, and after the winter UK was ranked 15th and Louisville 26th. So they both had 139 points in the fall, but this winter UK got 404 points and Louisville only got 310.5. The spring sports aren't over so it isn't finalized yet, and UL might close some distance with their spring sports, but last year UK had over 500 points in the spring while Louisville only had 258. I guess we will know in about 13 days how things pan out this year.

I know this is just one measuring stick, but it does show that overall we are healthier than UL. I think where UL is ahead is in facilities and in football and baseball commitment. However, in the past decade they have significantly closed the gap on UK in many respects.

No, it's not - see Comebak's post immediately above. "As a whole" UK is ahead of UofL. Always has been, likely always will be. You are probably focusing on a few high profile sports. But then I'll point out men's hoops and that UK is clearly ahead of UofL there, and then you'll qualify you're answer further. So, no...

No, it's not. Besides baseball, what sport is Louisville better than Kentucky? The talent level in football is pretty much even. They've beat us like 3 times combined the past 6 years in men's and women's basketball. UK softball has been to 3 straight super regionals. UK volleyball is in the Sweet 16 pretty much every year. UK track just finished as NCAA runner up. Sorry, but you're wrong.

They will always be lil brother. Even when they do good their fans are always looking at big brother and yelling look at me look at me.

I didn't post the topic chief just replied but I'm not the one posting on another team's site.

Is that why you're talking about UofL baseball in the UK baseball forum?

Quit changing the premise. It's true, UL is DEFINITELY ahead of UK in baseball. No qualifications.

On the other hand, you made the statement that UL is way ahead of uK as an athletic dept. It's not, and that is not an opinion. It's fact. UK has outperformed UL in Director Cup, Capital One Cup, and any other measure by which "whole athletic depts" are measured.

The main blight on UK's resume right now is the poor performance in football and baseball. Football looks to be on the right track, but I'd be lying if I said that I have confidence that baseball will catch the rest of the SEC (or UL, for that matter).

By the way, Barnhart was also named AD of the year this year. Just sayin...

That's true. You guys are ballin' out in volleyball and cricket. I think you'll have a top 25 cornhole team in a couple years..

LOL, typical. You make the dumb (and inaccurate) statement that your athletic dept. is way ahead of ours, and I prove that you're wrong, and you try and write it off like I brought up our non-revenue sports.

The reality is that it's nice to have a good overall department; however, I will never pretend to act like Baseball, Tennis, Softball, etc mean anything when compared to Football and basketball. I believe that football, in particular, is by far the most important sport and UL is clearly ahead of UK at this moment in time. UK is out-recruiting UL, but they have to prove it on the field before anyone can declare the tide to be turning. Basketball is still very important too, especially in our state (though I still argue that it's secondary behind football). UK is clearly ahead of UL in basketball, and that doesn't look to be changing any time soon.

Regardless, you people love to hail your AD as some kind of prophet, but in reality, Barnhart has built a stronger overall program and he's done it in a much tougher all-sports conference.
