Can't Seem to Win For Losing--the New Crappy Logo

Patrick Towles, for one. He has tweeted about bringing the Power K back several times actually.
Towles didn't say anything negative about the new logo...you remarked "reaction to the new interlocking UK logo has been overwhelmingly negative.".
On April 29th Towles tweeted "What's a guy gotta do to get the Power K back?"...there has LONG before the new logo was announced been a nostalgic yearning for the power K. By your logic any logo that is not the Power K would result in an "overwhelmingly negative" response.

Further, by quick count there have been 58 unique people comment on this thread...27 of those have made negative comments...far from being "overwhelmingly negative".

If the logo did not have the Houston look to it I doubt as many folks would be upset. I think the main issue is that they took what another school was using. Its not one of a kind and I think folks feel UK is too high on the athletic department/sports scale to not have their own logo. I personally have always loved the Wildcat with the UK on it graphic. Nobody else had it. The Power K was also unique in its time, but it is associated with a ton of losing in football. I am all for tradition, but I am also for new beginnings (especially when it comes to the football program). The new logo is not great but folks will get used to it in time and move on until Nike needs more revenue and changes it again.

I hate that I now have an opinion about this silly issue, but I like the new one better. The old U bugs me, along with the over-extended arm of the K. I get that this is not the K so many people seem to pine for, but I like the new logo.

Hell, with that opinion, I guess I never graduated from UK!

And, hats over facinators!!!!

GJ on asking them about it. However, I would like to enlighten everybody what this statement really means. "The new logo was designed in conjunction with Nike after taking into account the opinions of fans, coaches and athletes."

This does not mean that they worked together, nor did they approve the design with fans/coaches/athletes. It means they asked people what they didn't like about the old logo and what they want to see out of the new logo. Obviously, they heard they wanted the K to be more prominent(POWER K!). So they made this design because in their opinion it makes the K more prominent.

After hearing it makes the K more prominent, I guess it does.

I hate it.
The K is more prominent because, in my opinion, the right hand side of the logo looks crooked, or out of kilter some how.
But all of our opinions don't matter. It's already been painted of the court and it's been sewed into the turf at mid-field.
It's here to stay, like it or not...

If they're using the New Coke method of marketing ( and I hope they are) then it's working because I'm stocking up on the original UK logo because I will never buy anything with the new logo on it.

Fair enough. Like another poster said, regardless whether we like it or hate it, it's here to stay. Just figured it'd be worth a shot to ask about it. I personally don't like it (then again, I've never been a huge fan of the UK, I'm a Power K guy), but winning cures all ills and if Stoops can get us going on the gridiron, this logo will be the least of my worries.
