I’m cool with his salary. It’s the buyout that I didn’t agree with. Mitch was a chicken shit with that clause. If you wanna pay the man his salary that’s fine. But the buyout is stupid

It’s never what the contract says. It’s always a negotiated amount.

Well then Barnhart should be fired because he wrote a check his ass can’t cash.
I don’t disagree with that but this is the first disaster of season he’s had. At a program like Kentucky that’s not getting you fired.

Jimbo Fisher got a buyout of 75 million a few years ago, it would be cheaper to buy Stoops out than to keep him he making like 9 mil a year.
That was a ridiculous buyout, but A&M has crazy deep booster pockets and football is their priority. The next highest buyout has been Malzahn at $21.5 million, so a Fischer buyout hasn’t been the norm at all.

MB should never be In charge of ever determining a buy out clause of another contract as long as he is here. Wanna pay top dollar to get a coach, fine. Don’t pay them 50 million to leave though if they fail.
At the end of the day it’s all on stoops. He simply can’t take the program backwards this deep into his tenure. If he does his job then we aren’t having this conversation. But now that we are I hope Mitch has learned his lesson because stoops agent and Cal’s agent both protected their client and Mitch rolled over and have them both contract armor. He allowed them both to be fireproof. The coaches have all the leverage
Yeah I understand it when it comes to Cal but stoops never even won the East title. Plenty of coaches out there who could have his record here.
I assume everyone realizes that the loss of 15,000 season ticket holders would cost UK at least $15 million in revenue over the course of one season from sources of income they produce? Based on what happens over the next few weeks - this is quite a possible outcome!

Buyout is still going to be (only slightly less) ridiculous this time next year. Are you telling me if 2025 is a similar result we're still keeping Stoops because of a stupid buyout?
