Can Towles silence his critics with a solid game against Mizzou?

I doubt it and bet he struggles. He hasn't done anything since 2nd qtr of South Carolina game.

It will take more than one good/great game to get everyone back on his bandwagon. He's shown he can do it for a game, but stinging multiple games together has been the problem. So to answer your question no one game won't silence his critics.

i'd love to see him, and the entire team for that matter, come out and play two halfs, like the first half we played against SC. I think we'd compete with anyone in the country if we could put together a solid, entire game like that

I don't recall the hero part this year . Can you elaborate ?

go back and read the posts after the South Carolina game. There were most all praising Towles. There were even a couple of mocking sarcastic posts called "put Barker in" as if that was a really stupid idea.

How soon they forget.o_O

I remember everyone praising the defense and talking about how inept our offense was , especially after halftime . Maybe I am forgetting ?

Towles could play four more years at UK, Heaven forbid, and not be anymore than what he is now. He just doesn't have anymore than low, mid major so like it or lump it. This same conversation will be with us next season.

if he doesn't then the pressure will build up a lot more
best of luck

this is one of the most defining / pivotal games of the season for several resons

UK HAS to start winning games like this -- or just leave the f'ing conference already

If he goes out and has numbers like the SC game will those with "real" criticism lay low for a while? Or will it take a series of good games to prove he is legit? I am a Towles fan but I too am growing weary of his inconsistency. A poster mentioned the pic he threw against Vandy last year and to me, bar the Miss St game, that his confidence hasn't looked the same. For me, I need to see the consistent qb play of the SC game several games in a row. ???

No, because some posters want Barker as the qb. Lambert didn't silence all of his critics against USC after going 24-25, somehow they said he wasn't checking down receivers. So Towles will never be good enough for the ones who want Barker.

I disagree. If he suddenly develops some pocket presence, some poise, some leadership skills, a haircut, learns how to make simple short and intermediate throws consistently, and quits saying "gotta be more consistent" on interviews, I'll be on the Towles train.

Did I forget anything?

Yes, you're forgetting we won on the road against an SEC team. And like I said this is Towles week, hopefully he keeps his string going.

Nope. His incredible performance tonight won't stop others from dogging him to make sure he performs at least half as well next week. If this Towles or that Towles shows up. It'll continue for a while even if he strings several performances like this together.

I think you're wrong.

Putting Barker (with zero experience) in during a very close game on the road against an SEC opponent, while your QB hitting 74% on his passes, would be extremely stupid. In my always humble opinion.

I hope I am.
I haven't been a Towles fan. Have grudging admiremant of his performance last evening. Do believe that the coaches have, at last, used him as he should have been used in the past. Middle of the field and let him use his legs. Plays to his strengths.

I have some confidence that this will continue if the coaches use all his talents and not just rely on a strong arm.

I believe we finally saw the real, relaxed Towles. He was in command the entire game. Maybe his Atlanta prediction and the preseason predictions for him got into his head some. I dunno, but what I do know is that kid can play.
