No. I hate the thought of MB making another hire & negotiating contract terms. But, I hate the thought of another year of Calipari even more. So, it’s worth the risk to me. And, it’s not like the bar is set insurmountably high for the next coach, anyway. Dozens of coaches could match his results here over the last 8-9 years. And, hundreds could replicate his postseason success since 2021.

No but here's the thing-he should be shoved out of the way now that $33M is saved. There will also be some big $$$$ people who will step forward now Cal is gone. Mitch needs to hire who they want, not what he wants.

Mitch knew exactly what he was doing when he put Cal under the microscope. Mitch knew that Cal would NEVER stay here under that kind of scrutiny. That's why it has now come out that Cal has been looking around for a new job since February.

I'm not much on Mitch since he seems to be out of touch with how to draw up a contract, but in this case the pressure he placed on Cal saved UK $33 million which will come in handy when he hires a new coach. Now we ALL have to worry about WHO he wants.
