I have watched him twice at Vandy so far and he has a really nice upside. A phenomenal shooter, nice size, and not a bad defender...He would have made a nice addition to our roster but I am sure he didn't want to walk on...surprised Pitino didn't sign him....he would have made a nice line beard....He will be a solid player for Vandy and I wish him well except when he plays the Cats...I always cheer for the East KY. kids since that is home.

Almost certainly would have been offered most any other time in UK history. Under Cal, its just a crowded place. Plus hes supposedly not a UK fan at all. Supposedly a Duke fan.

But like you, Im glad hes doing well and hope he continues to; except against UK.

Over the years a lot of kids from eastern Kentucky who UK had no or little interest in have found success at Vandy, and gotten a very good education while their at it. You looked at the cost of tuition at Vandy lately? That scholly is worth a great deal of money. Not only that they've got a very good team this year, and will be in the NCAA come next spring so he get's to play against a lot of the same competition he would have at UK. Must be a pretty smart young man. He certainly made a very smart decision in taking the offer.

Few things get the UK fans more excited than a white kid from the mountains, will put the o/u at 100 Cameron Justice threads on Rafters during his 4 year career at Vandy.

Or maybe I'm just excited because he played at my HS and I know the family. Hope the kid becomes an All SEC level player.

But that's just me, I actually agree with your post.

What's wrong with that? I don't see a problem with regional pride. It's natural. I always root for the kids near where I'm from.

Plus, UK's program was built on the backs of homegrown Kentuckians. We wouldn't have what we have now if it wasn't for players from the EKy mountains or Ohio River valley.

Wouldn't have mattered if UK or UL had offered walk on status.. He was no fan of either but didn't hate them.. He wasn't walking on anywhere.. Could a scholly offer had changed his mind to either? Maybe but I still doubt it.. He really really wanted to get out of the state to play.. I'd tell you who he wanted to recruit him,, but I'm embarrassed being he's from my old high school,, lol.. But we here in Knott know how good he can and will be..

Just saw someone mentioned the school I couldn't mention and still can't.. That's true.. Cam was raised over in the Flint Ridge area of Pike Co his early years.. Weird people over that way,, lol..

Well he is from KY. But man. If he hates UK and is a Duke fan. Well then hell I hope he doesn't do well at all. who the hell would wanna go to Vandy when you grow up in the great state of KY. The whole state of Tennessee sucks ass.

No one said he hated UK.

And you do understand how the scholarship recruiting process works don't you? The schools decide who to recruit not the other way around.

Vandy is a great school. He can get a top flight education and play high level D1 basketball. He's a great kid and works hard to get to where he is.

I know he liked Notre Dame and Boston College but not sure what school you are referring to unless it's Duke which has already been mentioned in this thread.

He isn't realted to Elisha I don't think. He played at OLD HS when he was like 8th or 9th grade and he could really stroke the ball. I had no clue he was a d1 level player back then though.

OK but check this out. I'm a Kentucky boy through and through. Born and raised. I'm a UK fan. And I don't like Louisville at all. So in other words I hate Louisville. Same difference if he's a Duke fan and doesn't like UK at all. If he's a big time fan he does hate us with a passion.

That doesnt make sense. You can not be a fan, and still not hate the program.

Im not a fan of San Jose State (and plenty of other programs). But I dont hate them.

But he's a Duke fan. UK fans hate Duke, Duke fans hate UK, UK fans hate UL, UL fans hate UK, and on and on. So yeah man if he was a hardcore Duke fan and he doesn't like UK at all. Then dude. You could also say he hates UK. Its the fact that us and Duke are rivals. Your comparison to San Jose St doesn't apply to this as we're not rivals with them. Again. We hate Duke and Duke hates us. You feel me? Your either on one side or another. All of my friends who are UL fans dislike UK. Or you could say they hate us.

Being as that I am very good friends with his family, I wish him all the luck in the world (again, except when they play the CATS). He's a good kid from a good family. BTW, it's Camron (just a FYI, not trying to be the spelling police).

I started to point that out but since the county misspelled it on the signs for entering the county saying home of Mr. Basketball I let it slide.

He had two points tonight against Stony Brook. I was born in Knott County (Betsy Troublesome Creek).

This makes no sense at all. Other posters already said they know him personally and he doesnt hate UK. Just let it go.

Do you work at the BOE by any chance?

I've never understood how anyone not living in Durham could be a Duke fan. Most unlikeable program in the country. Is it their ceaseless flopping and ref berating coach that appeals to the average fan?

Actually folks living in in Durham tend to dislike Duke too. It's predominantly a UNC town.

Duke's fan base is really centered in Northeast corridor states like New York and New Jersey, which is also where most of its students, alums and money have traditionally come from. The place is essentially a Northeast private school transplanted down south.
