Cal's honeymoon at Arkansas is already over

The absurd and petulant claim that he was actually trying to use Arkansas to get a raise is CDS at its finest. Just a admit you have an unhealthy hatred for the man because be ruined your couch time, lol.

He sukked his last five years and he's gone. Try to enjoy Pope. Many cant do it.

In his first season when UK played WVU in the E8. That 1-3-1 zone that Huggy Bear played. CCC had no clue how to attack it. The players had no clue what to do. That got me scratching my head, how does an experienced coach not know how to adjust here.
We really should have gone the distance that year. I was stunned when we lost to WVU. I should have seen the red flag then but when AD came and we won it all, I lost sight of the red flag. 2015 Wisky reopened my eyes. I came on here that night and said we would never win another title under Cal.

Enjoying Pope and being glad Cal is gone aren't mutually exclusive emotions. Try not to be such a linear thinker.

Show me the sources.
You seriously have not heard this?
I has been reported by On 3, Big Blue Insider, a sea of blue, kyinsider.com, KSR et al.
I don't know how to attach anything here. So if it isn't true because I can't attach, so be it. The kyinsider article is still up.
I'm sure some Patriot on here will have that ability.
He did us no favors. By that I will stand.

If he was fired, we would have owed him. He left on his own after Mitch publicly embarrassed him with that interview thingy where he said he was going to be Cal’s shadow going forward, lol.

He 💯 did us a massive financial favor when all people said was how the “POS” was going to stay and drain our bank account. Yet people still want their pound of flesh. Sickos diseased with CDS, lmao.
The hostage video/interview you mention was to announce that he was staying.

lol. Member for 7 years but “I don’t know how to attach a link”. Carry on. Hatred can fuel a man so to each their own.

I don’t buy the narrative that Mitch forced Cal to resign. Under Cal’s contract, speaking to another school without notifying the university was NOT part of the cause for termination section of the contract. While that provision is in the contract, it’s not a legitimate justification to fully void the contract on UK’s end. If that is the position we would’ve taken, it would’ve resulted in litigation and ultimately a settlement.

Ok. I do not know how to attach a link or photo. Fact. (Nor do I care)
I do not hate coaches or players.
🐄 sucks, has sucked and will suck.
This is not that controversial.
He did us No favors.

Totallly agree. It was right there in front of us all. Mitch said he was going to watch practices now, etc. Cal’s ego would never let that happen so he left.

Hes in the rear view mirror. I’ll keep enjoying the Pope era avoid thes threads. See ya.

Yeah, honestly, this is what I expected. I thought Calipari would be out to prove himself and it would drive him to push his players and his coaches harder, maybe as he did when he first arrived at UK. But I don't think we're seeing this.

I think we should also acknowledge that Calipari lost Assistant Coach John Welch when he left UK. Welch ended up back at Fresno St. Calipari ended up in Arkansas without Welch. I'm sure most remember, Welch was the guy brought in to help Cal's offense, and he did help, by all accounts, significantly. Last season's issues were on the defensive end primarily.

So, now Cal is back to running the offense and Welch is in Fresno. This has left some selling Arkansas stock and seeing Cal trot out the same offense he ran back when he had Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins, et al. I think the game has passed Cal by and he needs a guy like Welch to inject some analytics and modern offense to the team, but he has the same coaching staff he had before. We shall see what happens. Cal has some talent here, but i don't expect the same old offense to produce better results.
Yeah, he replaced John Welch with…

Wait for it…

Brad Calipari

🤮

Both things are true. Tyson did do us a huge favor, he was the only one dumb enough to offer Cal enough money to get Cal to sit down and talk to him about it, which was a breach of contract and Mitch terminated said contract.

Both are true, so you see, you both are right.

Happy day, oh happy day.

Cheer up everybody, UK is back.

I think there is a LOT of truth in this thread regarding Cal and his lack of coaching. HOWEVER, the one thing to me that is the biggest tell of how he coaches is he has not had ONE Assistant Coach EVER to go on and be remotely be successful anywhere else AND it is rarely a situation where they are hired off of his staff . To me that tells you everything you need to know. Kenny Payne is a prime example. What in the bloody hell was he doing at UL I mean you would think he would learn how to lead a program after being at UK for however many years he was there... UNLESS Cal is such a prima dona that he won't let any of the coaches do anything unless he tells them too... Its crazy.

Interesting. Mitch must have been less than impressed with the decision to talk to Arkansas lol.

Mitch had a hard-on for Cal going back several years. Cal publicly insulted him after the Saint Peter’s game. Mitch was just itching for a reason to kick his bloated, thieving ass to the curb. It could not have played out better. Also thank God Scott Drew turned us down.

He’s just hanging on in hopes of launching Brad’s career and getting him paid along the way. He’s a carbon copy of Tubby.
Carbon copy? Good gawd, no! Tubby might not be the best coach in the country, but he is competent, humble, and a good, down-to-Earth person. He never dodged a question, never made fun of the fanbase, never put his desires above the wants and needs of BBN and the program. He remains among my all-time favorite people ever to be associated with the program.

You're the second person that completely did not understand the post. He's ending his career the same way Tubby did - Move to a lessor school, hire your son and stay loyal to garbage assisants. FACT.

And since we are on Tubby, the dude was a a lazy POS. Mitch asked him to surround himself with better assistants and instead he left in the middle of the night to a school that would let him hire his sons and get the gravy train rolling for them as well. Tubby started his undeserving son at UK becuase he was too lazy to recruit and didn't give a rat's a$$ about UK. Saul Smith the starting PG for UK...........DISGRACEFUL and LAZY recruiting. In fact, we couldn't' get a better PG because those PG's knew that Saul would get the nod. Never been so happy as to see Tubby slink away. That POS once said "I thought 20 wins was a good season???? If that's not a deliberate, passive-aggresive thumb of the nose at the entire fanbase, what is?

Just watched a video from 2 Arky fans who had been excited and hopeful with the Cal hire, and they are already despondent. I don't think there was one thing said by them that I disagreed with. In 4 games, they are already where most of us were at when he finally left. They talked about how his style is boring, he isn't developing guys like he used to, needs better assistants, that he won't change, etc. I think his stay there is going to be much shorter than anyone expected. This is a different video, but go to 2:45 and hear them talk about how right UK fans were

We told them so...... Anytime a coach leaves a blueblood program for a lesser job. Like when Tubby Smith left here for Minnesota or when Bill Curry left Alabama to come here. They leave because they're not a high enough quality coach to coach there. If Calipari was a dud at Kentucky without John Robic at his side. Then how in the world does anybody expect him to win at Arkansas.

Your delusional, he was being a shitbag and violating his contract and that’s a known fact that started early in the year, not after the season was over. He was terminated without the payout. He can say he was “quitting anyways” but he was 100% fired.

So only little violations don’t count? You’re clearly not a lawyer trying to save your client 40 million dollars. A violation is a violation no murky lines on that part.

Yes, the way things turned out couldn't have gone much better. There were a couple of other guys at the time that I wish we would have at least made say "No", like Billy Donovan. But THANK GOD Scott Drew said no. That would have made me feel like we'd be watching more of the same. Especially now that we know what Mark Pope is going to give us. It just seems like such a "no brainer" hire in hindsight.

Clearly Cal will never change. Antiquated offense, no defensive changes ever, no inbounds plays, constant screaming, playing guys over other guys who are better to protect draft stock, losing to inferior opponents because of lack of coaching, I can go on and on.

Just thank God we have Pope and not the above mess anymore. His ego has been his death nail.

I just don’t think the Wall offense is very effective against great team anymore, even with Wall like talents. You can’t win shooting 2’s all game.

Exactly.
And he had no clue on how to stop a hot shooter.
He had no clue on how to stop driving guards' layups.

And on O, game winning possession? Dilly gets the ball on the wing, hesitates, then shoots with 10 seconds left.

I'm sure you know all the games I'm talking about. I was a Cal apologist, but then came to the realization that he just can't coach.

I predict Cal will be a changed man next year - not because he wants to be but because he has to be.

He thought he could coast in at Arkansas and ride the "wait until March" wave but he just doesn't have the credibility from past performance to get the benefit of the doubt at this point. He'll need an elite 8 this year to over come it.

Next year he'll build a veteran team from the portal. he'll have at least 2 veteran 35%+ 3 point shooters, a true PG and he'll have at least a 9 man rotation. That's my prediction anyways, of course, he could just get the money, recruit and then just show up like he has for the past 6 years now
If that happens, that's my sign to buy bitcoin and penny stocks.

Maybe 2011, 2014.

If the chance to go scorched earth on uk and its fans wasn’t motivation enough, nothing will be. He’s done. His only goal is getting guys to the league and making sure Brad is well connected enough to eventually get a head coaching gig.

and a big thanks to the heavens that Hurley said no. That guy is the biggest jerk in college basketball and I don’t want him associated with Kentucky basketball

could very well be.

I think age is catching up. Used to be I could work all weekend, now I'm down to about 3 hours and a nap
