Cal's Double Standard

I wish we could put Willis in on offense and Briscoe on defense. Watching Briscoe on offense is so painful especially now that teams are sagging in. I can never imagine a worse shooting guard than him. Every shot hits like a brick and starts a fast break

Oh, I doubt he is a fanboi. He's just using this as a reason to bash Cal. Pretty much all he ever does. Does anyone really think he was on the board celebrating with everyone else in 2012? Highly unlikely.

Hmmm, so he doesn't care how bad Willis gets trashed. Makes it worse.

I hope Willis transfers. Recruiting white kids from Kentucky seems like such a pain for coach.

The kid clearly does not value his opportunity. Pretty much wasted his first two years and was called out by coach for not working hard. Doing much better this year, but not sure why coach would trust someone like Willis after his effort the first two years. Seems the short lease is well deserved.

lol Chuckinden- Good response. It does seem LmdCat is out numbered alright but he is hanging in there. I will have to say he has some good points. I agree with him about Cal having double standards. I remember how Archie Goodwin led the team in turnovers and also led team in minutes played. So much for discipline. I could name others that did not get much playing time even in blowout games. That is just Cals way and I almost forgot you can't question his decisions.

There is one thing that does amaze me about Cal is that he can say something and there will be hundreds of fan that will tell you what he meant, although it wasn't what he said. Example: Our goal was to send 8 players to the NBA, not win the championship. It was amazing how many posters tried to explain that one.

LmdCat, you can sit back and relax by reading the replies to my post. Reckon I will get any? lol.
OK, I digress from my original plan. I guess I just like a good fight.

To single out Willis like he did on national tv was a low blow and certainly unnecessary. I seriously don't think he likes Willis, for whatever reason and he may have good reason. IMO, Willis should be commended for taking what Cal dishes out. I noticed Alex was giving it back to Cal last night.

Cal shows favoritism, but that's normal for a team leader. It's the fact that he doesn't treat everyone fairly. Cal wins and can get away with this, but he would be bashed severely like another Billy G was. if he wasn't winning.

As long as he is winning, too many think he's God and beyond reproach. You can never point out something wrong he has done without being bashed and called names on here. Objectivity is totally lost on more and more people, especially Cat fans who see everything in a blue tint. I guess that's why we were voted the most annoying fans in a recent survey.

Cal has called out tons of players on national TV. You don't bitch about it when it is a Murray or a Cousins or a Terrence Jones. I wonder why that is.

I don't disagree with a lot of the other stuff you said. Yes, winning allows you to get away with a lot. Winners get perks, like that in every career field. Losers do not get the benefit of the doubt with what they do.

Aren't we lucky that we can watch a game on tv and know everything that cal says to all the players during games and during practce. With all this data we can judge cal, just the way we can judge parenting, policework, teaching, or anyone's behavior from a few minutes of observation. It also helps that we understand willis and briscoe much better than cal since we have watched all the games.

It's pretty simple to understand. Willis didn't work hard in practice the last two years and there is no reason for Cal to trust Willis. His short leash is well deserved.

So much wrong with that . . .

Cal challenged one of his players. No coach has ever done that in the history of sports. How dare he!

Stop being so dramatic. I don't remember seeing a coach do it on national tv.

I have seen it plenty of times. Pitino does it quite a bit...now you are just showing your agenda again saying you have "never seen it on national tv" when it happens all the time.

glad at least a few see the other side of the coin on this issue . I couldn't care less if Derrick was from Ky , or that he is rather pale in skin color , there have been times this year where we deseparately needed offense , I don't care whether it comes from Mathews Hawk or Willis , or whoever. Just someone to stop the over sagging on our bigs . And to add a bit a more I wouldn't like it any better if Mathews or anyone else was being so obviously toyed with ( I know toyed is a harsh choice there but it is what it is ) . DW has to be close to flawless on D and rebounding to stay in MOST games . I'm afraid when we really need him due to a cold hand or a injury or foul trouble that we wont get near the best version of him because his head is messed up from looking at the bench after every stop in play . That just isn't good for any player .

Cal values hard work, and DW admitted he basically didn't do squat his first two years. I'm guessing Cal doesn't have a ton of respect for DW, not for admitting it, but for actually not putting forth the effort.

Dramatic? Actually it's called parody. Literature lessons are extra.

Don't watch much sports?

Seriously, grow up. Call a parents meeting, Have the principle reprimand the coach.

To the poster who said Cal doesn't call out players on national tv.
Picture Cal. with the "WHAT?" to Randle.
It should be more of, how hasn't he ever called out?
He singles guys out all the time...usually, they respond. He seems to know how to push the right buttons ( most of the time)
This just screams. I dislike Cal or I am blinded by favorites on the bench
