Arkansas finishes SEC schedule 3-15 and does not get selected for NIT. There is a “mutual separation” and Cal states that he’s mulling retirement, “probably will, won’t say I won’t ever coach again”. Does a year or two in the studio until UMass opens up for him. He coaches there as a hobby for 4-5 years, it’s a total ego stroke job where Cal gets to lose in relative obscurity.

I don’t think he’s capable of the prep necessary to be on TV. He’s barely on and we already know what he’s going to say every single time. Make it where he needs to be on everyday and he’ll seem like a literal broken record.

He needs to be the basketball version of Lee Corso . Act like a buffoon and put the mascot head on at the end . He was made for that role .

Maybe. Those salaries are dropping and the talent pool is ever expanding. I could see him on SEC network though I guess. I always thought he should have left here and ran the SEC. Better fit for him.

I think he at least does 1 possibly 2 years at Arkansas just to get Brad some experience in his new assistant role.

Now if someone gives Brad an offer to as some type assistant roll on their bench. Cal will retire right after.

Then again if Cal has a 2nd terrible year at Arkansas they move on from him.

How many years will it take before there is not a single thread about Cal? Early this week there were 4 going at one time. At least so far today this is the only one.
He lives in so many fans 🤕.
Probably because you can’t be associated with someone for 15 years and then just magically forget like it never existed. It would be weird if we never thought about him.
You better believe we would be hearing about how this fanbase wrongly ran him off if he was having any sort of success.

I think it was a 2-5 year plan from the get go. So, we’ll call it 3.

Cal is too stubborn to quit/retire. Especially considering he had about a milly/year golden parachute retirement plan with UK.

To pass that up just to retire a year or two later would be the dumbest decision ever made by a coach.

I think he’s going to collect another top class or two, put some Arky players in the league, and make a little noise.

This season was rough but that’s the nature of the cycle now in nil/portal era. He could easily have a big dance squad next year.

His ego won’t allow him to go out on a season like this.

Secondly, he’s not going anywhere until he sets Brad up somewhere. Coaching, administrative/operations, etc

That would be the cue I look for. When Brad gets a gig somewhere doing something. Then we can start looking for Cal to move to the booth, advise/consult like K and Saban…USA basketball, league, shaping what CBB does in the new mega conference semi-professional era…

What ever, just glad he is gone from UK. The guy made enough from UK to retire very comfortably.

I think he does a second year at Ark. then your scenario might be correct. Didn’t Cal at one time set an age when he would get out of coaching?
He said 10 years at 1 school was max for a coach! He screwed up big time with that by staying 5 years to long at UK…

I actually think he is done after the year.
They may start winning a few games. But I see no way they win enough to get into the tournament. I'm not sure they even win enough for a NIT invite.
The man got payed with that stupid lifetime contract and quit caring. That and the Wisconsin game.

People are nuts saying cal is done at Arkansas. His only objective is to put more players in the nba. As long as he is still getting 3-5 top high school players to come to Fayetteville he will still be coaching atleast another 5 years. He doesent care that he’s not winning games, that’s not what he’s about

I can’t imagine what the media would be saying if we had reversed records. Seth Greenberg would be saying that we got what we deserved. Right now he is just talking about the process and that Arkansas is the youngest team experience wise in the SEC (which we were almost every year at UK)

An if it were reversed Lexington would not be a happy place right now. And there’s be “Indiana” talk.

What’s worse is posters like you who act like they can’t understand why (it’s not because he “lives in anyone’s head”).

Guy coached here for 15 years, was a huge part of our program’s history and then became a lightning rod between the people who could see he was finished here 4-5 years ago and the people that just could not let go and accept that it was time for our program to move on. I’m sure the people that could see so clearly what was happening but repeatedly berated by the fans that were going to go down with the Cal ship no matter what feel some vindication at this point, they were right. And it’s a message board, people are going to talk about it. It’s not about living in anyone’s head. Very possible to be so content with where we are as a program and also happy as hell to see Cal doing his song and dance somewhere else. I know I am.

There were tons of posts about Tubby and how he was doing at Minnesota his first year or two as well. I assume you were around for those and remember it.

He's going to host Little House marathons.

"One of my favorite episodes. Half Pint holds her own against Nellie Olsen and Little House Nation really showed up."

Sometimes I see threads titled “Lunardis latest brackets” . Unless it’s at the end of the year I think that stuff is so stupid.

Guess what, I don’t click on it. Nobody made me the “post police “. Guess what, nobody made you “post police “
either.

Ding ding. Such an obvious thing shouldn’t have to be said

Cal says a lot of things, none of which are true. Especially how he wouldn't be at Kentucky more 10 seasons. Saw how well that one worked out.

Arkansas and CCC did UK and fans a huge favor. But if you're the Arkansas AD you made the same mistake Mitch did with a monstrous buyout. Why would you do that after you'd seen how under performing he and UK had been these past few seasons?!
