Caleb Wilson cancels on Arky again

This Wilson recruitment feels like another Brandon Wright saga because we all expected Brandon Wright to commit to the Cats but he chose North Carolina. I have followed high school basketball recruiting for 30 plus years with that said I haven’t seen one time Wilson has given a hint he’s coming to UK.
Wilson has hinted at uk multiple times now, if anything he hasn’t hinted at unc at all.

He did, but he has done alot more flirting with uk. His buddy comitted here, he was at the champions classic and tweets about uk all the time. At the is point it would be a upset for him not to be at Kentucky
Caleb Wilson is like the Pennsylvania electoral votes of recruiting. All the polls are saying UK the same way the polls said Trump.

It's going to be close on election night, but in the end, UK is landing this kid the same way Trump landed PA.

I hope so but I don’t have a good feeling at all with this recruitment. I think when the final player rankings come out in this 25 class Wilson will be in the top 3.

So, do we want one and done recruits now? When did that change?
Who is the "we" you're alluding to? I've always wanted elite OAD players.

That will never change for me.

Maybe you just conjoin everyone you disagree with into one massive pile of goo to help expand your straw man arguments?

I'm not sure why it has to be a "dream" thought. Oweh is a tweener by NBA standards. Decent, but not great shooter. 6'5", which is small for an NBA three man, but he's also not an elite ball handler for the two-spot.

We've become so accustomed to marginal talent leaving that we expect every fringe g-leaguer to leave, but Oweh isn't even a 2nd round pick at this point.

Meanwhile, programs like UConn routinely return their g-league-level guys. Why shouldn't UK under Pope expect the same, especially in a day-and-age where NIL can pay a kid like Oweh comparable a salary to what the G-league can offer?

We need to change the way we look at these situations from here on out.
Great points. Hope all of the negative Nancys read this.

I agree I am more worried about a big offer to transfer. He is exactly the type guy like Lewis we should build the program around. Have guys here 2-3 years before they go pro and are truly ready but talented enough to go to final fours while here. Surround them with older seniors and pro potential freshman.

One of two things:

1. He's ready to pick Kentucky or UNC.
2. He's merely rescheduling his Arkansas visit. I don't think he flakes out on visiting Arkansas for as long as he's been getting recruited by Calipari.

Does his love for Hubert Davis outweigh his love for playing with Lewis? I doubt it, but who knows. We've seen weirder things happen and recruiting, and to be honest, this one has felt uphill the entire way. If Pope snags Wilson, it will end up being one of the most "come from behind" recruitment wins in UK history. We didn't even have a chance at this kid as late as this summer.
I think we’ve got a real chance. The wanting to play with your best friend factor is real.

His biggest hesitation was likely the uncertainty of the Pope project… now we’ve got a feather in the cap to validate the system. If we make it to his commitment date with a couple more big wins and not derailing… I think he can put any of those concerns to bed and know that he can come here, play with on of his best friends, play in a fun system that gives everyone an opportunity to get shots, and win at the highest level.

Yeah but with the way Oweh has been playing I could see a team promising him a late first early second pick if he keeps this level up all year

Like I said, I don’t like it 😐

I could just as easily see the NBA ignoring him the same way they did Chaz Lanier, Jaxson Robinson, and dozens of other guys who are really good college players.

If he was 6'7", I'd be worried about him leaving. At 6'5" with decent but not great handles and shooting, not so much.

I think he could be a guaranteed second round guy but they usually won’t draft guys like him in the first unless he’s like AA level next year.
Don'tworryaboutit23 still has his mindset tied to Cal pushing kids out the door whenever the G-League winked at them. Those days are done. We'll lose guys to the draft, but it won't be because Pope blesses premature departures the same way Cal did.

I saw a podcast last night with Teague and Lamb talking to Cal, and Cal bragged about how he didn't pressure either of them to reconsider their early exists. Meanwhile, Teague should have definitely come back and ended up hurting his NBA career because of leaving early.

Pope's not going to hold the door open for them the way Cal used to.

“I feel like the other team is going to get him. Poor little UK.”

That’s the mindset for half the people who post here.

For sure all the guys you mentioned are either boom or bust.

It just seems so obvious that I hope he's not trolling us. LOL Who was the kid that was wearing the UK practice stuff a few years ago right before he committed to what I think was Florida?
If he does, then, without the risk of sour grape speech, we didn't want him. This is not a place you can use anymore for leverage. There will be no more dull Sharpes.
