Probably whoever offers he the most NIL get him. That is the way it is in today's world.

Bruh if you considering Kansas State I question what you’re looking to get out of your college experience other than a quick payday.

So we recently have heard that Kstate has a top5 NIL offering (I believe from Goodman), so yeah, id say this is about the highest bidder based on his choices.

I would rather have Alijah Arenas as a small forward. The dude is smooth on the offensive end. Between him, Johnson, Lewis and Wilson and Garrison, you will have some really good shooters. The defense would be forced to make some tough decisions.

Unfortunately, Arenas is probably going to Arizona.

I didn’t forget Oweh. I just think he is going pro. If not, he would obviously start.

Of course, you want 2 or 3 really good transfers. Pope will focus on really good defenders via the portal to push/teach the freshmen. One reason Oweh is critical to hold onto. He can really be a leader for these freshman. I just fear he has played so well, he will move on.

Garrison and Moreno are going to be a really good 1 - 2 punch at the 5. If Garrison is able to continue to add range and handles, he will get minutes at the 4 as well,

Arenas is good. He would be a great pickup we did offer him at least. Probably right in that he will go to AZ. It I have no idea how close Gilbert is with them now. I don’t know if their alumni are as tight as UK, Duke, UNC guys.

I believe Arky will be hard to beat then . Cal lost out on Wilson and Cenac and they wanted both badly. They thought they had a good chance to get both. Tyson chicken coffers will be unlimited on this one .

Can't be stressed enough, just like you or me, your work is all about the pay day and same goes for these recruits and transfers. I don't care where my company is or who my coworkers are (ie. Program and team) and I probably don't care who my manager is as long as they arent bad (ie. Coach). The corporate culture is whatever (ie. Fanbase). What matters to me, is which one is going to give me that 20 to 30% raise.

That's not to say other things don't also matter. I think they do. But ultimately this is anout a pay check.

We have to find ways to boost our NIL anywhere we can.

Would that be playing four (4) Freshmen ??
I understand your reluctance. But that lineup in Pope’s system is a very dangerous team(my opinion).

Defensively, I trust he would get these guys to work hard on the defensive end. If they do, they will be ok. There is a lot of length and athleticism. Half the problem with Cal’s last 4 years is they stoped trying to defend.

I am sure Pope will have some hard nosed defenders from the portal.

Garrison is likely to start at the 5, if he comes back.

My 2nd to last job underground I took a decent pay cut for.. Went from $22 hour to $8 hour on check n $7 cash with all OT straight cash.. Guy only wanted 5 cuts of coal a day,, normally you'd want 20-25.. But wasn't much work and was easy..

That actually sounds like you didn't really take much of cut when you consider half of it was tax free along with OT as well. But I do get the point. Sometimes it is best to take a small dip in pay to really go where you want, do better work, or throttle back. Problem is, you don't learn that until well after your 20s.

Especially when you know you’re only going to be there about 6 months.

I like Alijah but Gilbert latest comments has me thinking Alijah will go where he is the main focus . Earlier this week he mentioned DJ Wagner going to Kentucky hurting his career because he had to sacrifice with other 5 stars which was a stupid point if he watched the season lol

If that is his thought process, no he probably is not coming here. Because, he would have to play team ball. There is opportunity to make one on one plays within this offense, it it is centered around movement that eventually opens someone up for a better shot than most get one on one.

I have not seen his games live(HS or Nike/AAU). But what I have seen through game coverage(Chatsworth vs Westchester-Tahj Ariza for instance) it did not appear he was selfish. He seemed to make the right play most of the time. He didn’t play much defense, but many don’t in HS.

Its about 9' deep,, 18' wide and ever how high the coal seam is on a cutter section,, usually 26-40" high.. On a miner section it's about 20' deep,, 18' wide and ever how high the seam is,, usually 4'-8' high.. About 5 cuts is a coal truck load unless on a miner section then its 2-3..
Are you making these cuts w/ some type of hand tool/drill, or cleaning out the cut after some type of machine has made it? Also not sure what you mean by a miner section

Yea it equaled out to around $20 on check but was way more laid back job.. Owner said had two choices,, work just enough to make money and be able to work longer at that mines,, or run wide open and work yourself out of a job faster.. Still paid in on comp in case got hurt..
Working wide open in my 20s is why I've had 6/10 surgeries with a 2nd left shoulder rotator cuff surgery next Friday coming up and a 2nd left knee surgery next February.. Had the left shoulder operated on last Dec and fell back in summer tore it all loose again.. Had the first left knee operated on in 2020 for LCL and now the MCL is torn..
Last job I had that retired me,, owner offered all straight cash and I took that for about 4 mths.. Then I made him put me back on payroll and 6 weeks later I almost got killed,, cut my ear slap off and should have gotten my head squashed completely flat when got my head caught between top of the equipment was on and the roof of the mines.. I sued the owner and of course he filed bankruptcy,, Lol.. Did get decent chunk from comp but if hadn't switched back to payroll few weeks earlier I'd been screwed royally..

Cutter section uses a cutter that's kinda like a chainsaw.. It cuts under the coal then you drill it and blast it down with dynamite.. Miner section uses a continuous miner that has a big ol rotating head with bits like teeth that just rips the coal down.. No dynamite on a miner section..

Understood completely. But, of course, those “other things” might actually be highly valuable, maybe even more valuable. Like relatively good (“good” would be a misnomer) health insurance or a pension. You could think of BBN and the post-playing-day opportunities here as kind of like a pension. That UK pension could be a lot more valuable than a one year NIL difference.

I’m with you. I hope the days of having 4 freshmen playing major minutes left with Cal . The last final 4 team with that model was in 2015 .
Yep. It was a bad model to start with and became a worse idea with every passing year. But I think relatively developed group of freshmen in a quasi-platoon type of system with very good to solid upperclassmen might work.
