Cal showed a lot of class after the game in his on the court interview, post game press conference and all the great things he said about the University and his time at UK. I wanted UK to win, but now that this game his over, I hope he wins every game until he plays UK again. We were lucky to have him as a coach for 15 years. I agree it was time for both parties to go separate ways, but he will always be a huge part of the UK basketball history.

My favorite part was him and adou both thinking they were losing the game because Kentucky was down 11 at the 2 minute mark.

lol, it's easy to show class when you win. (Unless you are a Harbaugh).

Did he show class when he said it was our superbowl or when he sent others out time after time for the postgame interview after losses? The guy is a clown.

I hope he LOSES EVERY GAME HE EVER COACHES IN AGAIN!!!!

He is the reason why Coach Pope had to put together a roster in 6 weeks

I am appreciative of what he gave UK up until 2020, but he has been OVERLY compensated for it!!! He benefited as much as UK or MORE from his time as our coach. It gave him legitimacy that coaching other places NEVER did!!!

He OWES us!!!!

He just told the truth. Did we not act like it was our superbowl? Look at all the UK celebrities that came out. Everyone said it was the best crowd they have ever seen at Rupp. What is wrong with calling it what it was?

You are surely kidding???? If it was our "Superbowl", that would mean UK fans would glady lose every other game, miss the tournament but be happy to beat Arkansas. That's not how UK fans approach seasons. That's laughable!!

He did not create the roster rebuild. The players and the court system created that with this NIL and transfer system.
No question Cal was getting paid, but he was not the only one. We pride ourselves as the top basketball program and our coach should be paid accordingly.
He repaid you last night by allowing you to see him coach to another victory and he was nice enough not to even charge you for it. Maybe you owe him.

I think you owe us an explanation for why you've posted less than 50 times in 15 years but show up to stump for Cal, lol. Your either not a UK fan or are a friend of Cal's. smh

I like how he acknowledged that it was only one game, meaning that the next game, they could be right back in the same old slump. Covering his arse for more losses, since he knows how much they literally played out their arses against UK. Who knows, maybe they are over the hump. Sure wish our guys could have played better. Ruined my weekend. Glad it’s over. 🤬

Has a single Arkansas fan come over here to pop off? I haven't seen any. That says a lot. They know last night was just the occasional game.

Let me just say, I realize my opinion doesn’t mean much because I’m not a Cat. Even though I’m fully aware Cal needed to go and the breakup needed to happen, I will always think UK when I see Cal. I hope UK fans and Cal get far enough away from it when he’s done coaching and welcome him back as a Kentucky legend. I think he’ll want to come back to Lexington to be recognized over anywhere else.

Now you get 1.
The bad thing is I probably dislike Cal more than you. I have no clue why the Chicken Man spent all that $ for Cal but it did save you a ton of $

BOOOOOING the players that left I can see but not a coach that won you a NC that don't show the class people think of from BBN.

If you looked at our boards before the game on the pickem about everybody was just hoping KY didn't pull our players shorts down out on the court.

Big win for us and a bad loss for KY. Nobody here can say this game was not circled on everybody's calendar. Do I expect this to help us turn the corner no not really you need a real coach for that. But it could of gave them some confidence to win maybe 4/5 of our last 10 or so with a bunch of quad 1 opportunities along with about 2 tourny wins could put us in.

For other post about the timeline for getting a team together we were about the same just Cal took some players with him.

One more thing for BBN. Times have changed big time I hope you really don't think that your best players really care about the school's name on the jersey. It's all about the $$$$$$$ and playing time. Pretty much any team that offers more takes your player. You might have some that care like the 10/11/12th players that are just happy to be their.

All I got to say good luck with the rest of the season, kick some butt.

Pretty fair post, though the title was more than a decade ago and that loser said the biggest night for UK was the draft night, has said our fans didn't understand basketball for years, ducks out on post games, etc. Have fun with that used car salesman.

I know that, it's no longer AR it's the U of Cal a springboard to the NBA all about the kids W or L means nothing.
I think used car salesman is to nice lets go with telemarketer that calls 3 times a day because your auto warranty has expired.

Anyhow I'm out good luck the rest of the year.

This is going to come off like I’m trying to argue with you but I’m really not. I just have to tell it like it is. You’re either really old, really young or really dumb to post this. Triple C is an ass. He screwed the hell out of UK, BBN, and several players. As another poster said, he was ‘nice’ because they won. If we’d kicked their ass like we should have he would have shown his true colors. The man is a total POS.

I'm disappointed we lost, but if you'd told me we were going to go 1-1 this week, I would have taken the Tennessee win every damn time over this one. Arkansas is still going to have a mediocre season and miss the tournament. I'm glad Cal's gone, it was time. There will be an appropriate time down the road to welcome him back and honor what he accomplished here.

Here is what I think of Cal and what Cal did to the University of Kentucky the last 4 years of his tenure. 🖕

I keep hearing the same thing from members of this board but the fact is, many coaches including Cal had to put a team together in a few weeks. Pope managed to get very good players. Byington at Vandy did okay as well. Pope built a very roster and using the excuse that he had to build a team at the last minute is, in my mind, down grading the players and team that we have. jmo

I get where you're at because we saw this same scenario play out every season for the past several seasons. Cal would get a big win around this time and fans would convince themselves the team had turned the corner. Then comes the letdown at the SECT and the total no show in the NCAAT. Save yourself the heartache man.

He will be one day but not until he retires or goes to a different conference. Him having his players act like he was the university rubs us all the wrong way.

I am in NO WAY “down grading the players we have”!!! And if it came across that way I’m sorry. But Coach Pope DID have to build a roster totally from scratch only bringing Jaxon with him from BYU. The teams we have beaten is a testament to how good those players are and what kind of coaching staff we have. Injuries have really hurt us.

Cal on the other hand brought some of his players AND recruits to Arky with him. Which should have meant he had a head start on building that program. But he has lost more games and until last night looked horrible.

I was just pointing out how hard it has been not only on our staff, but the players also having to play with a totally new group.

Pope tried to bring players from BYU as well. In his case, only 2 elected to follow him. It is where we are in college sports. I fully expect Noah and Perry to return next season but I have zero, to only a little, confidence about the other eligible players returning. I hope not but I fully expect Oweh to have other programs contacting him.

You is kind. You is smart. You is important. But…Cal says he’s gonna try and do the same thing at Arkansas. Maybe he can be honored as an Arky Legend 😂

Good grief?!? I will only say that you have the right to your opinion, and you also have the right to be wrong. Reasonable people can look at Cal over the last five years at UK and cannot deny his abject failure as a coach. EVERYONE close to him at UK wanted him gone. He is a poison and very skilled at convincing others he's the victim. Everywhere he has ever coached he's only made enemies and loved to poke others with a sharp stick. He's a sick and demented sack of shit that used the UK platform and program to promote his OAD fraud even after that approach was failing in a spectacular way. He didn't change nor adjust because he didn't care enough about the PROGRAM that was so good to him. He's a carpetbagging liar and his name and class used in the same sentence is an oxymoron. His damage to the UK brand is already a reality and all the liar wants to do now make you believe he's a good guy while his ultimate insult for BBN is to have those like you argue to hang his name in the rafters of Rupp. If that ever happened, he would laugh his corrupt ass off all the way to his grave. It's just who he is and who he's always been EVERYWHERE he's ever coached.

Everyone has a right to their opinion.
Before Cal, Kentucky was the laughing stock of college basketball with a drunk for a coach that was dating his players' girlfriends. That was the Brand Cal inherited. Yes Cal did lose some first round games. One of those teams reached the elite eight after beating UK. That UK team was a 2 seed. To earn a 2 seed means you had a pretty good year. The second time the team was a 3 seed. That is not a horrible year either. So, Cal must have done something correct during those years. Cal has a different philosophy that what several UK fans want. He puts his players first. The real truth of the matter is some UK fans are only concerned about about their feelings and their macho ego of wanting to satisfy their agenda that they cannot step back and realize how much good he did as the UK coach. That is the irony, these same UK fans want to call Cal selfish but cannot put their own agenda to the side long enough to appreciate what he did.
Kentucky was losing first round games long before Cal. Research games against Middle Tennessee or UAB. It happens!

He's a Cal nut hugger. His post history proves that.
I have no problem to admit that I do not hate Cal and I appreciate the 4 final fours and the national championship he brought to our state University. I have no issue respecting a guy that revived a program that had media chasing former coaches through the practice facility. This program was in a mess when he arrived.
It is not my problem that you are so simple minded that you cannot have a intelligent conversation without making some childish comments.

This loss shows how much we need Butler back. Not having our PG's showed and Wagner torched us, freaking Wagner torched us!

I'm still livid because we folded and missing 9 FT's and 13 turnovers to a 1-6 record in the SEC is inexcusable. I'm sick of the excuses.
