Cal says, "we're not losing a game this year"

I know some of you guys are joking--but some of you are clearly not... so let's try to clarify this a bit.

Here's the full quote from Metz Camfield's practice report from CoachCal.com (in which A Sea of Blue was paraphrasing in the article posted by the op).
  • During one warmup drill a player dropped a pass because, according to Calipari, the pass was too hard and the player tried to catch the pass with one hand. “We’re not losing a game this year because a guy tries to catch a ball with one hand and it goes out of bounds,” Coach Cal said. “We may lose a game another way, but not that way. We always rebound and catch with two hands."
You guys are taking what Cal said completely out of context. He's telling the guys that a game will not be lost DUE to someone only using one hand to rebound/catch a pass (one of Coach Cal's big pet peeves in case you didn't know)... I dunno how people read this quote thinking Cal is saying the Cats are going undefeated.

If that is the quote... Then OP you are terrible.

I double everything.. And the 40-0 bullshit cost us a title last year.. If they'd lost a game prior to the sec or even in the sec tournament,, we'd breezed through to the championship.. Let Indiana keep that unbeaten record.. I want none of it.. Especially nowadays with 40 games to play..

So is that obsessive compulsive,, so is that obsessive compulsive[winking]

I hope we win every game but most people think a loss makes a real competitor play harder so they won't lose again, we will see:popcorn:

OP,, do you wake up every morning this way? Or does your reading comprehension just suck? I hope we lose a game or three.. Especially close to the sec tournament..

Except for question marks??

Cal is known to send secret messages to BBN via the media. He knew that subliminally we would pick up on him saying "we will not lose a game this year". This is no different than him referring to ul as "other team in state". He likes his team and wants to tell us they're a juggernaut that cannot be stopped, but he is too tactful to brag about it in the open.

If you think we lost a game because we hadn't lost a game, or if you think Vegas was able to cause us to miss free throws and open shots, then Cal depends on people like me to bring people like you the message. He knows you're out there, but he also knows that people like me are out there as well and it brings him comfort.

The next time Cal speaks in code I will interpret for some of you, but I would hope you would be a little more appreciative. Enjoy the ride.

Original Poster. The person that started the thread. Me, in this case.

As long as we finish with at least 20 wins in the reg season, I'd be happy.
Back in the early 2000's when uk just played 26-27 games 20 wins was acceptable. However now with 31 games 20 is a down year. Need 23 at least for an acceptable regular season based on our programs standards for most of our teams. For this team and our SOS I expect at least 24 wins in the regular season and at least an elite eight minimum.

I don't mind losing a few games, I just want to win enough for us to end up as the 1 seed in South Region. I feel pretty good about getting to the Final Four if we go through Louisville.

We need close to 30 wins before the tourney starts, IMHO.

Only 20 wins would make me very nervous going into the postseason.
