Cal Says Refs Swallowing Whistles

Fouls were 25-13 on
To narrow it down, refs are swallowing the whistle for the home teams. Good thing I'm not an announcer cause it's something I'd be bringing up during games a lot. It's like the refs are scared to get booed and It's a problem that needs to be addressed badly.

I mean look at how some of these teams play at home vs how they play away and there's no way there should be that big of a difference. A basketball court is a basketball court no matter where you play and I know some crowds can affect a game but not as often as were seeing it.

The home team always gets to play with more freedom and they know it's gonna be that way before the game starts. I think it's impacted college basketball so much that some teams that have to play on the road feel defeated before they even get off the bus cause they know how it's gonna be called. And I hope I'm wrong but starting to feel like Vegas is taking over this sport as well.

I think you are leaving out a lot of things that make a difference when playing at home. # 1. you don't have to travel . # 2 You get to sleep in your own bed. #3 You play in a gym where you play at least half of your games. #4 you get to play in front of more of your friends and fans than away games.

All of these are advantages and has absolutely nothing to do with the officiating. The officials often get booed when they arrive before the game even starts, so I hardly think they are scared.

If a team playing on the road feels like they will be defeated before getting on bus because they know how it will be called has got lots of problems and
that is on the coaches.

I agree, for individual plays, but when the entire game is called with UK getting called for the slightest hand-check, but the opposition gets to hold them off with their non-ball hand, it is ridiculous. If they call hand-checks, then there is no reason that the offense needs to put their arm out and hold off the defensive man. This wasn't one or two plays, this was the entire game. It keeps a really good defensive man from getting up into the grill of the ball handler and disrupting them from getting into their offense. If the offense can keep them at arms length, by using their forearm, and then the defense gets called for the least amount of contact, like when the AU player slipped/fell, and Briscoe got his 4th foul, it puts UK at a real disadvantage. Enough of a disadvantage that it cost them the game, because this team isn't talented enough on the offensive end to overcome it. They are going to have to live with defense, and that was taken away from them.

I don't think the 4th foul on Briscoe caused UK to lose game any more than the turnovers we made. Any of the walking calls, throwing the ball away, steals by Auburn, poor ball handling, missed shots could have affected the outcome of the game.

Sheesh. I didn't say that this one call cost us the game. Please read my post, one more time, and tell me if you still get that from my post? I said that a game full of nitpicking defensive fouls, while the officials allowed the offense to hold off the defensive man, impacted the game enough, that an offensively challenged UK team could not overcome it.

Above is part of the paragraph where I thought you said Briscoe's 4th foul cost them the game. I read it again and I still get the same thing.
