Cal says no UK players likely to be on U19 Team USA

I'll admit I don't know much about the area it's being held in but I would imagine they will be in the safest possible areas and will stay at hotels that are of the highest quality. The security should also be on high alert.

They should hold it in Chicago....they only had 49 shootings over the Memorial Day weekend.

Was their suicide bombers blowing themselves up that killed dozens up in Chicago as well? That took place over their in the last month along with the formentioned shooting that left 29 dead and many many more shot up. I'm sure that their will be Christians playing ball and along with them being westerners..... ya.
Chicago is a good example of a crime infested area run amok with violence and most everybody avoids those areas. Do you go to em and prance up and down the side walk? Ya I thought so. Egypt is like a giant Chicago.

It would be cool if a few of our guys went, no doubt. But I think the best part of this is the time he could get with recruits, so I'm hoping a few of our top targets go. I'll still watch it that's the case.

Their was a mass killing committed against Christians their just a few days ago. I'm not understanding why they are even holding these games their in an environment where these kids are targets.

Holy crap, dude, learn the difference between "there", "their", and "they're"... please!!!

No use on Cal using the already signed players for next year. Better to have a team of kids he is interested for UK for the next couple of years.
No use risking injury for the already signed kids.
Plus it's smart for Diallo to play. Hasn't played competitive games in a while. A good chance to hone his skills.

Uh, Egypt is kind of a big place with lot's of issues for sure but not going would be kind of like saying I'm not going to New Hampshire because of the violence in Chicago. I think they won't be going to the places that have the problems.

Folks - there is a reason why Cal got this gig considering the paranoia about giving him any extra advantage. I was surprised at the time but it made sense once I realized where they would be playing.

I'd love to know how many coaches turned this opportunity down before it was offered to Cal? I suspect most of top kids will cancel and Cal will have to cobble a squad together. The whole event may be cancelled.

Not because Coach Cal is a great coach? Last one on the list to get offer the job? come on now...

No, the entire country is a damn mess, as is the entire Middle East, as is everywhere in the world with a sizeable Muslim population.

I think it could hurt team chemistry if only two or three players went. These kids who are going to be freshmen need to stay in Lexington and start building on the incredible chemistry it will take to bring home number nine!

No current players... This is nothing but another recruiting tool.. Not that cal needs one.. But why not take advantage

Maybe no UK players on the team..but im sure some future recruits will be

I'm sure what Cal decides to do will be in the best interests of next year's team.

You are kidding, right. Comparing New Hampshire and Chicago to a place and area that is a known hotbed for extreme terrorism and political/military upheaval??? Wow, you really need to follow what's going on in different parts of the world more closely. I don't care how much they are "protected" or told that they will be safe, there is no way I would put myself in a position of peril in such a wacky area as Egypt and the Middle East. Those idiots can get into any location and do whatever they want, take a look at London and what extremist Muslims have done the past few weeks for example. They are targeting and people from the West are at the top of the target lists.

Assuming all 49 people shot died, how many of them weren't involved directly with the person that shot them? How many weren't domestic cases, drug dealer on drug dealer, or gang related?

Occasionally, innocent bystanders become collateral damage to above shootings (incredibly low % of deaths are innocent bystanders) not just in Chicago, but every city in America. With these terroists attacks, in almost every case, all of the people killed are innocent bystanders.

I think you're comment was probably a bit tongue in cheek, but obviously the two situations can't be compared (although to me personally, giving immediate attention to the issues in cities like Chicago should be much more of priority to this country).

I will say I think both situations have been created, in part, because a large group of people have been oppressed for many, many years and to a high percentage of those people crime or terror are a perceived path to something greater than what they otherwise see around them every day.

This is probably the longest post I've ever made...my apologies ha! To the OP, I wouldn't want my kids going on a trip to anywhere in the Middle East/Northern Africa right now.

Maybe he wanted them all to stay behind and establish some chemistry over the summer. Are his assistants going with him?
I have been to Europe 13 times. Every time we go London first for a few days go to the continent and then go back to London for a couple of days. I wouldn't take a million dollars to visit London again . Much less a middle eastern country.

Feds have already put out a warning to US travelers to Europe "avoid tourist areas of large groups of people and don't do anything to stand out as USA".

Have you heard about the roaming gang of rapists that have been terrorizing the UK for many years? The UK is basically just letting them get away with it, apparently out of fear of pushback from Islamic groups. It's an astonishing story that gets no real publicity from our media.
