Cal press conference last night

There is a bit of schadenfreude in watching this, but overall, it just makes me sad.

This is a guy who was on top of the college basketball world a decade ago.

Seeing him for what he is today, a broken man who is a mere parody of his former self, should be a cautionary tale for anyone who makes it to the pinnacle of their profession.

He really should’ve just retired. I think he enjoys aspects of his job , but he seems to dislike having to do actual coaching obligations.

Lots of them end up like that. Look at Jim Boeheim, Bobby Knight, and John Cheany at the end of their careers. All HOF coaches that were clowns at the end of their careers.

Solomon Grundy CRUSH all hope!!!!

He was stunned by having to leave UK. He tried to bully and his bluff got called.

He's a cartoon character now. Not even remotely credible.

I think he feels too safe and too untouchable. There was some of that here but now I'd say it's bad.

Should've left for UCLA. Should have let him leave for UCLA but I don't blame Mitch for not. But I do blame him for a lifetime deal that about took us down.

Dude couldn't read a room. Probably what makes him a great recruiter, too. Universally disliked by people around UK, the fans had turned on em, and he was still trying to use Arkansas as leverage for a new basketball facility here.

He tripled down on STALL BALL to end games. Unreal. Just ****ing unreal.

Here's a question that nobody ever brings up when he constantly has his "We had 5 guys practicing....." WTF is going on where these guys are in a Triage Center for recovering from ****ing basketball offseason/practices? Are they playing full contact football without pads? Are they living out Gladiator training?

The poor fans at Arkansas will get tired of this nonsense by the new year. It's just insane.

DJ Wagner is washed. Just completely washed. He needs to play 4 yrs of CBB but the last 2 as far away from Cal as possible. This is becoming Kevin Walls like only Kevin had the torn ACL excuse and it was in the 1980's where recovery/surgical procedures weren't as assured of a comeback. DJ? He's age of what should be a FR entering CBB now, but still.....he looks awful.

Cal better be careful with Adou--he played well his Daddy may want to revisit his NIL payout like last year. LOL

Kinda agree. There’s some enjoyment and validation in seeing him spouting off the same stuff and playing the same ugly basketball after the national media acted like KY fans were crazy etc.

But at the same time, in a non-facetious way, wonder if he’s not showing signs of mental decline

How long before the residual effect of having coached and recruited at Kentucky wears off as he tries to recruit at Arkansas with an archaic offense? Aside from The Hogs’ Tyson Chicken NIL war chest, why would any top recruit want to sign to play for a coach on his decline at a second-rate basketball program?

I had the misfortune of watching the first half and it was some of the worst basketball I have ever laid my eyes on. It was like watching UK playing Bellarmine, except at least bellarmine runs a competent offense.

DJ Wagners brain works like this-
“Option 1 drive
option 2 drive
Ah the drive is not there and they’re taking it away…
Maybe I should drive again”

Adou and Big Z saved them. And big z played like crap until he started floating from the outside and hit six 3s.

They are having some problems already. It's very interesting Darryn Peterson blew them off. Boozer Twins didn't even waste time visiting. Caleb Wilson has played "Tag" with that staff. He got Acuff and was always going to due to WWW's connections to Detroit, but Acuff is a score first guard, look for my shot second, highlight pass third, then if I have to pass the ball guy. Meleek Thomas is a tremendous talent and winning play but he does spell Meleek with ME at the beginning-and he's a scorer more than sniper shooter. Great talent though and winning player-he'll do the things Acuff won't. But not the PG I'd want Meleek playing with.

Things are getting interesting--just waiting for Payne taking over the player development from ENG (Earned Not Given) as that will help a lot more if Cal allows it. ENG's future is why Cal's still in this industry right now.

And we did him SUCH a favor. Living in LA would have sucked his income dry.

Ruh-Roh. Honeymoon is O V E R in Fayetteville.

Also, had some players pretty upset at Cal during the game. Not sure Boogie is taking to that screaming and those Cal cussings.

Thank you Arkansas. Thank you God. Prayers answered.
Could see Arky players hitting the portal if declaring for the League isn't a realistic option. Cal will likely be in full damage control. His bullshit arrogance and underperformance could push players away. Pope, I believe, will be able to seriously draw real talent out of the portal every year while still recruiting at a very high level.

Didn't CCC say that he wasn't going to let Z shoot any 3s?
