Cal era player that you miss the most.

If we're talking combination of on the court contribution and personality, I'm going with Ulis, Towns or Wall.

[QUOTE="ORCAT, post: 598, "Gotta go with Wall. Pure excitement and started the Cal era in a major way.[/QUOTE]

Got to agree with this. I was flat out excited when I first seen his mix tape. BBM that year was so fun. That and 12 after the real T. JONES came back were fun.

So then Doron Lamb > Jamal Mashburn?
Marquis Teague > Tayshaun Prince?

This seems like a silly take on the surface.

I see what you mean with this. I dont think D. LAMB was anywhere close to Mashburn but his personality and the fact he was here two years makes him awesome to me.

I sort of miss them all, and fondly remember them equally. Cal has always recruited not only the top athletes, but really quality people. So I'll change the direction of this and offer one of my favorite moments ......I laugh every time.
I like it! I was so mad watching that game at work. After that I ran round like omg I cant believe this lol.

Unfortunately towns is on a team nobody wants to talk about for obvious reasons. Finish and he could've been better than Davis at UK. Boogie and wall kicked it off, something they didn't have to do. Towns was on a team that was uber talented that disappointingly didn't finish. I'd put him 4th on the list though

What makes this really hard for me was Town's was killing Wisconsin for the whole game. He willed us to get in position to win. Makes me sick to think about still.

1. Anthony Davis
2. KAT
3. Boogie
4. Wall
5. Sleeper Pick (Terrence Jones)

This is another hard part about this. T Jones would have been an all time favorite had he played and won a title in say the Tubby era. He's no better than 5th or so with all the great players we have had, even though his contributions are arguable to be number one on the court. Two final fours and a title.

MKG. You don't find that grit heart and leadership very often. Nothing wrong picking Davis at #1.. his ability on the college level is absolutely silly. But I like what MKG brought on a team-level.

Like a few others have mentioned, the first logical answer is Anthony Davis. He definitely would have had the most impact (changed history of the program) if he had stayed for four years. We likely end up with at least one more if not more titles. No one impacted the game more, so he has to be my first choice.

The emotional choice is John Wall. In my opinion, no other player has had his charisma and confidence. He definitely brought excitement to the program. From the moment he was lowered to the stage on midnight madness doing the "John Wall" you knew he was a star.

We think the same way. My heart vs. Logic. There is.no wrong answer and there is so many to choose. Wall just made me more excited than ever.

Who do I think is the best player? AD for sure. Never felt more confident going into a game than I did when Davis was playing.

Player that makes me most nostalgic? John Wall. He represents one of the most important shifts in Kentucky basketball history.

Obviously 2012 with Davis and mkg is the big one. 2014 the Harrison twins and the incredible run and 2015 were special in its own right. I miss kat the most since he was mr positive and glowed when speaking of uk. The run we made in 2014 was incredible and had the true spirit of march madness love every minute of it till the championship game. 2015 same thing that one still guests because we were loaded and so close to history. The meltdowns afterwards were great coping mechanisms. Thanks to all that contributed to that.

On a side note please ban the op mods. It took me forever till kill off wall2rondo and he changed it to W2R because some of the things i posted some would think it was him and not me posting which probably caused a lot of pain and suffering for him
TIA

As you can tell by my name both Fox and Monk are high on my list. I could never imagine missing a player more than Wall and Cousins but there was something I really liked about the way those two played. I of course would have loved Davis and MKG for four years but those four really stand out for me.

1) cousins
2) wall
3) booker
4) towns
5) knight
6) cauley stein
7) bledsoe

Me too. I like guys that don't need to be coached to give 110% effort. I'd put Tyler Ulis in this category also.

Ulis. He would've been insane if he had ANY weapons to play with (besides Murray of course).

MKG and Ulis.

Two absolute tough as nails players that just cared about winning.

Anthony davis is really the only answer. Impacted the game in every way possible. Really miss Darius Miller as well. He took more sh*t than almost any player I remember, proved everyone wrong, and became a hero.

Liggins did not get recruited by him, but he was a Cal era guy. I loved watching him play D and hit those crucial jumpers. Played with that fire every team needs.

Actually, Cal recruited Liggins really really hard. He was upset when Liggins comitted to Kentucky without taking his official to Memphis. Funny how life works, Liggins gave Cal his first final four here.
