Cal danced around Hagans question

Things got pretty heated between Izzo and Winston in the game right before ours on Tuesday.
Biggest difference is Winston got his crap together within the game and lead Mich St to victory.
He is a senior as well.

Another thing about Izzo/Winston is Izzo publicly called him out for sloppy play and turnovers when they took place. They beat Maryland on the road and Winston was credited with 7 TO's but seemed to be closer to 10 with bad passes, decisions, and sloppy play. You can't win in March like that. It's going to haunt a team and Izzo said so. He also will call guys MF'ers in huddles, get in their face and does it with every player. So if you choose to go play there, you know how he's going to be. Cal has a tendency to scream at guys and Hagans doesn't care for that so Cal's changed in how he coaches/handles Hagans.

So where has that led Hagans? He's doing the same things he was this time a year ago. He has prevented his own growth from not getting the push that other guys do and it's not shocking that guys who have taken to the coaching--Richards, Quickley, Maxey have shown progress and those who haven't are a year behind in their personal development. EJ is starting to get it, but he's at level he should've been a year ago, and Hagans is same which means he's worse because you either improve or stay the same which is worse. For those who are critical of aspects of the other players, you are 100% correct but they have gotten better. What does Hagans do better then last year?

It will probably be the New York Knicks!

When Cal leaves, I doubt he ever coaches again. Hearing him talk of the road trips wearing on him as he ages....that certainly isn't speaking to wanting to coach in the NBA. Far more demanding and grueling schedule/demands on you.

Way he's recruited to add to this class he's got coming in for next year tells me he's looking forward to that. Can see him giving a big run for next 2/3 years and then stepping down from coaching for whatever he chooses to do and enjoy life.

Nobody had a great game but they were playing well enough to beat UT, then the bottom fell out, everybody was missing shots so no, Hagans didn't cost us the game. Hagan has seen two years worth of players being pulled for mistakes and getting a bit of verbal abuse, he is not good enough to be treated any differently. Time to put on the big boy pants. If he doesn't want to do what the coach wants, its time to cool off in the showers.

I sure hope it is more like 8-10 but I agree...could see that. No shot he is leaving with Boston & Clarke coming.

I can see him wanting to tinker with the new rule in a few years.

Good points but I would say up until after Georgia home game he had been a much better overall player this year than last.

He has 45 turnovers since then, in just 12 games. Almost 4 TO's pg compared to just 5 apg.

The 18 games prior he was at a shade over 7 apg to just over 3 topg.

That isn't it. He was shooting over 31% from 3 and last 12 games is down at 17%.

He is down 5ppg, a reb, almost a full steal, everything is significantly worse.

I have no clue what happened but it has been a significant dip that is going on half the season.

Yeah with next years class I don’t see him going unless he doesn’t add any quality bigs or doesn't get ej quickley brooks to return. Next years team is nice but I think cal needs a little more to feel 100% about next years team. Since 2018 I’ve been looking at next season being his last.

One thing that could happen is one of these elites could decide to play overseas then I could see cal saying screw it im done. I would say this season has taken a major toll worse than 2018 imo.

We played bad for 15 minutes. It will be fine. Nobody on here played ball after tee ball? Not many athletes on this board. Couch pros. It’s part of the chemistry of a team. Competitiveness and egos. Frustration boils up because they care.
Relax. Reset and start another winning streak

Issues between teammates happen everywhere. Getting on a guy during a game is part of it. Fights at practice happen too. Depending on the issue you are speaking about, agree. The issue at hand here is Hagans/Calipari. That is not the norm, especially when the HC has changed how he coaches specific to him as a player, went above/beyond to always mention him and how important/good he is as a player, and that player ****s on him and team.

Calipari isn't hard to read and from watching today's pregame presser this is something that hasn't been resolved and nobody will know until game time. He admitted as much when saying "I have no idea how this team plays game to game". Did find it interesting he never mentioned the guy by name when asked about him and he'd voluntarily do so if asked what he bought Ellen for her Birthday.

Common sense.

You’re over thinking it. It’s fine. All teams get testy at times. Cal has praised AH all season. AH had his frustration boil over. If your a patent you’ve experienced it. Kids good. Played slot of minutes with a lot of pressure on d and o. Frustrated with being pulled for fouling.
It will be fine tomorrow. He blew off some steam and gave Cal a chance to address all of it with the team. No big deal except to those who love to invent drama.
Anybody who played has seen it.

This team is far from "young" start 3 Soph, Jr, and a freshman...I bet Cal will be glad when Hagans and Nick move on

Anybody expecting Cal to bench Hagans will have a looooong wait. When was the last time Cal bench one of his 5 stars he was trying to get drafted for a teaching moment?

Cal is NOT going back to the NBA. He tried that once and got exposed. Ever since then his whole life has been about proving them wrong.

He had a really concise statement on the racial slur then came back to it and had some rambling statement that was incoherent. You never get anything out of Cal, might as well just have the assistants do the pressers.

can you blame him? Asking him about hagans was basically the reporters asking: “please tell us about all the drama that goes on behind the scene with this team”
