BBN has been very patient with this topic.... amazingly no real speculation or "insight" from this board, as is usually the case.

Understood that "we" are being respectful to the players and coaches; however, surely there is something out there circulating on the grapevine that folks are willing to share ??

Go CATS!

KSR keeps saying it will come out but I haven’t seen or heard anything. Just that it’s not illegal or anything serious. But if that’s true, why is he missing multiple games?
Exactly... and implying today that it involves the boss of Mark Stoops' boss....not a typical, low-level problem...

Allegedly filled out fake timesheets and got paid for work he didnt do for UK Hospital - I think it involved being a driver of some kind. Apparently has been going on for years with several players but when whoever turned them in CRod was the one currently receiving the checks.

That’s might cause major legal issues if true. The IRS would not be happy either, though they may not pursue it depending on the amount.

And technically that’s fraud. That coupled with his DUI probably did not make the University very happy with him.

Why would the IRS care unless he was being paid in cash under the table. As long as he reported it and paid taxes the IRS has no beef.

We don’t know if that did or didn’t happen. We hope it did not.

What’s going to get interesting is if what’s floating out there is true, that’s taxpayer/ public money though. That’s going to be a bad look on both CRod and the University . Amount wouldn’t matter one bit. The principle is what would be the issue.

They just need to come out and say what the final issue is.

Make no mistake, If he was a nobody he would already be off the team.

I’d be more concerned if I were the one signing off on the time sheets. Personally I don’t need to know the specifics. Sounds like several people messed up.

Put CRod's mug on a billboard for UK hospital....get some publicity from it and move the crap on. 3 game suspension for this nansy pansy stuff....in an era where kids get 6 figure NIL deals for no work at all...we're going to suspend our first or second player on offense. Just silly.

Fraud is not nansy pansy, if in fact thats what is going on. And the fact that admin. is being so vague about “Everything” makes me believe it very well could be that or something worse! Couple this with the known DUI and CRODs days at UK could be numbered!

If allegedly this is what happened, it is serious, and why KSR said back in May he was likely to be kicked off the team.

IMO Stoops stood up to the university officials, defended his player pointing out lots of other UK athletes in lots of sports did this. And negotiated a payback plan fir CRod to UK hospital. Again, IMO, they are left haggling if the suspension is 4 games vs 3.

Wright & a couple others also caught, nit as much, will be popped 1 game.

You'll be shocked to hear no one in the UK admin cares or are out for blood punishment for those doing the same who are on the women's VBall team, men's soccer, track & field!!!!!

Stoops already said he's playing. They just haven't and may not release specifics. Wright also got one game. Some said it stemmed from CRod's issue but he also got arrested

I agree, while not armed robbery, that would be against the law i would think. Fraud or stealing, so that leads me to think it's something else. I think it's more alone the lines of slacking with the paperwork for his NIL deals. Just speculation on my part, don't think that would be illegal or come under academics.

The IRS won't care as long as he paid taxes. And he probably did. The problem is that he was paid for a service that wasn't actually a service which makes it less NIL and more a cash gift.

This is a bunch of ish!
In the real world if someone finds out you got paid for work you didn’t do, you get fired and lose your job and your supervisor gets his ass chewed.
And we all know that a hospital is always reasonable in the fees that they charge for the services they provide.

And theft from the tax payers of the Commonwealth. If that’s what truly has happened (and again we don’t know) that’s orttty crappy of CRod to do. Depending on the amount or may not be toss worthy but I can see a suspension for sure.

Not to double down but that’s true. Steal from your employer and see what happens. You’ll be unemployed and potentially sued and/or arrested depending on amount and type of theft.

DUI and then potentially theft. Come on CRod. That’s bull. You’re better than that.

How is it taxpayer money? I'm sure the hospital is self supporting.

It continues to surprise me that people conflate this with NIL because in both scenarios the players aren’t pulling shifts at the company. In a NIL agreement, the player isn’t supposed to be working for the company as in pulling shifts and punching in. They’re just using their image in marketing generally. That’s the difference. CRod was supposed to actually be working. That was the agreement and instead he turned in forged timecards (if the story is true.) So to say well players on NIL deals also aren’t working doesn’t make sense. This wasn’t a NIL deal.

Yeah, I’m sure CRod is the first and only athlete in the history of the ncaa, to have a no show job. SMH
SMH. Doesn’t make right. At all. And he got caught.

Quit making excuses for bad behavior. Try that with a cop sometime. “But they’re speeding toooo!”

Let me know how that works out for you.

Uh. If he stole from the University that’s a PUBLIC fund more than likely. Which means he potentially stole from me and you.
The amount of money CRid has made for the university I am sure dwarfs the amount he got paid. Years ago the BB players were getting paid to do nothing. Just really think this is being way overblown!!
