Nothing is shocking anymore, but this would surprise me. Mark Turgeon left A&M for Maryland, but I think A&M is a better job than Maryland now. Buzz is a Texas native and well liked. There is zero chance Maryland could outbid A&M for him, if A&M's wants to keep him. Seems like a good fit for the Aggies.

Both leagues are tough.

A&M is like the 9th to 13th best job in the SEC

Maryland probably checks in slightly above that relative to the Big Ten

The bigger issue is likely salary and NIL. He's going to lose his whole team regardless of A&M or Maryland, so I don't see why he'd want to start over at Maryland unless it's clearly an upgrade.

However, it's Buzz Williams. He's started over before.

I'd consider that a lateral move. A&M has to have more $, or at least not less.
Maybe him or his wife is from the East Coast, or his kids (& grandkids) have settled there?

Maryland is historically a much better job than Texas A&M so maybe that is what is playing into this. But its hard to see how that is true anymore. But then again I don't really understand Willard leaving Maryland for Villanova. The advantages of being in the SEC or Big 10 at this juncture seem insurmountable.

Now the coaches are having transfer portals. Never seen so much coaching movement so soon.
I imagine it's got a lot to do with coaches having to start over year after year. All else being equal, why wouldn't a coach leave for a slightly better situation if they're going to have to completely restructure their team anyway?

So what you're saying is the transfer portal for players is impacting the game in yet another way - a coaching carousel of sorts.

He's fine. But if this is true, it makes me wonder if he's afraid of success. Or does he not want to do the necessary things to be better and always looking to start over.

I don't think it's 1:1, but might contribute. Who knows, honestly? Might just be an active year in the coaching portal.

Maryland has some history and is the better program but Tam is moving upward there. It's a lateral move would depend on money

Historically, Maryland is the better program but in terms of resources A&M has more money than God for everything an athletic program needs going to a place that can't keep it's head coach from going to a small private Catholic school makes no sense.

As vocal as Kevin Willard has been about the administration and the football coach as well, not sure why any viable coach would want to go there. I could see a guy that is up and coming or a guy that got in trouble and is looking to get back in coaching.

Good, get him the hell out of the SEC.
LOVE THIS POST!

BTW--LineSki isn't saying this out of fear/respect, it's out of disgust in how this goober goons up a game and can't coach the actual skill of basketball. If Buzz would've just played Basketball-Aggies had Michigan beat-but he had to stay true to what he is and he subbed out the group that was running Wolverines off the court to put in Wade Taylor IV and watch him do his bull**** and then their "We don't allow anyone to get through lane without hitting them" resulted in allowing Michigan to score with clock stopped and from the FT line.

This rumor makes sense in terms of Buzz getting ahead of the fans wanting him replaced. Assume A&M fans are not very happy and sick of watching his bull**** style flame out in the NCAA's per usual.

Yep exactly.

Also, feels good hearing one of the better basketball minds here say they love my post.

I don't get all of the attention. Has he really done anything?

I can see why buzz would do this with Texas entering the sec and they hired slimey Bruce pearl Jr from Xavier he may not want to play second fiddle to Texas my guess
