This one should be a bit interesting. UK should absolutely demolish this Bulldog team. Butler is 2-4 on the season. Yep... just 2-4. They didn't start their season until March 12th. So, they are basically just 11 days into their season. They've played Evansville and Purdue Fort Wayne. They haven't hit extremely well, with just 2 of those 6 games having scores of 4 or more runs, and 2 of them having just 1 or 0 runs. So, I would like to see UK hitting really show up and our pitching to shut them down almost completely.

Lineups will probably come out in the next half hour. I'll post when I see them. I really don't expect any changes and expect we'll see Hagenow out again, but we shall see.

Haha I didn't pay attention... game is at 6:30 tonight, so lineups won't be released until around 5:30. I didn't even look, just went right on with my regular routine and belief that we were lacing them up at 4pm. 🤦‍♂️

We sure are squandering opportunities. 4 left on base in two innings.

Hagenow with a good recovery after a leadoff double and a good sacrifice to move the runner to third. Finishes off with two strikeouts. That first strikeout was a great location on a 3-2 count and getting ahead of the last at bat so he could get him with a high fast ball.

FIrst and third with now outs. Now 2nd with two outs on the SHORT fly by Austin Schultz. Why did they send Estep? It was short and now we have two outs.

Anu pops out so we leave another on base. 6 so far in four innings.

Harper walks the inherited runner and another. We are sure walking a lot more lately.

Hudepohl fails to throw strikes and walks one, then gives up a sacrifice hit t advance, still falling behind and gives up a single which scores a run. Didn't pitch well at all. Not many strikes and not many balls that were close. The strikes got hit. Really not a good outing for him. 2-1 Cats with two outs in the top of the 6th.

Holt Jones throws two strikes and is out of the inning. I like the pitching coach's philosophy. Pitch fast and throw strikes.

Great attitude from Holt there.

Gotta say though... I'm not happy that we've only put up 2 runs so far.

Now we give up a leadoff HR to tie it. This looks like the first Ball State game. You squander early opportunities and then don't get many more.

Kessler makes a little league throw to keep the runner from advancing which lets him advance. Sheesh.

Harney can't hold them gives up a double with first and 3rd. Butler is ahead 3-2 with one out. Feels like we allowed this to happen by not scoring when we had runners in scoring position and, in fact, killing innings by base running errors. Another single to right scores another. First and second and one out still.

Going to be another bad midweek loss that will hurt come postseason. Mingione man....

6 bases on balls so far this game. That and the same number of hits puts Butler ahead 4-2.

So what do we do with a leadoff runner on again? So far it has been stink it up.

Schultz doesn't protect and gets a called strike out for the first out. That would be "stink it up" so far.

They are giving Ritter a hit on that. Not sure about that one...

Schultz watches a fastball at the knees for strike 3.

The pinstripes with this batting helmet is just pure beauty.

Anu also watches a fastball at the knees. That one was a bit low, IMO, but you got to protect.

Rhodes did not look comfortable at all to start that at bat, but he kept fouling off pitches, so credit for battling before wearing one.

I think he took that off the little playbook on the belt. So... they do serve a good purpose. 🤣

Collett just missed that one and flew out to center. It was there... a decent line drive. Just couldn't get it down.

Calmly being very generous hosts. We leave two more on and no runs. There just doesn't seem to be enough fight in these Cats to win many games.

Not a huge fan of throwing Harney too much longer. You could conceivably need him 3 more times this week. Would rather spread things out, but I also get that UK doesn't want this to get worse.

Harney gives up another solo shot. 5-2.

Hill possibly brings that one back if he is in. Went off the top of the wall. Anu was never close to it.

Leadoff runner on again after Harmon tattoos the Butler pitcher on the thigh.

We found a way to drive out the left handler. Hope he is ok. We sure couldn't hit him unless it was with no outs and no one on.

Yep. If I were Butler I would have been digging for another one as deep as I could.
