Butler at Kentucky

Bad luck there for UK and Kessler. Could have been a double or a triple down the line, but instead it goes as a K. That drive down the line line is why you take out Harmon. Lewis easily scores on that. Harmon may as well, but it's worth taking him down to make sure.

Church lines out again. Hitting it fairly well, but it's hanging up.

Taking down Ritter, the only starter hitting for Cam Hill. Really questionable.

What the heck are they doing? Bring in Hill... shows bunt twice, then no bunt and then bunt again. Then he walks.

We were going to bunt with 2 outs... ?

Schultz flies out to left.

Again... 10 hits in this one and we've scored 2 runs. The averages will stay solid... clutch hitting stays pretty poor.

Team can’t get a clutch hit this year to save there life. A loss like this is just unacceptable 15 games in.

Maybe I'm dumb, but I'm pretty sure Ming could have pinch ran Grace for Harmon and put him at SS. Could have PH Hill for Ritter and put him in left and moved Anu to DH. Then he gets better defense and keeps Anu's bat.

One of those things that didn't matter, but would have been a smarter managerial play.

I'm wrong on this. Cant move someone already playing to DH.

Anu a leadoff double. So, three innings in a row that UK gets the leadoff man on and into scoring position.

Butler may need to take this guy out. Seems like he has lost the control. Not sure why they brought him back out to be honest. It's a 3-0 count on Collett... way way outside. Walk.

If they don't bring in Lewis to run for Collett... I swear... okay... they do bring in Shelby at least.

Had a talk but left this guy in.

5-4, still no outs. This was an absolute mismanagement job by both coaches, IMO. New pitcher for Butler. Can't believe he ever even came out in the 9th.

This is a good time to get some hits with runners on. We really don't deserve this game but we are really in good shape with 1st and 3rd and no outs.

Bold strategy by Butler to throw to first there. Want to keep Lewis close, but also don't want to give up the lead by throwing it away.

Lewis stole 2nd. Kessler draws a full count. Ball into deep left center bounces off the centerfielder's glove and UK wins.

Glad to be eating this crow tonight. Still don’t need to be in that situation but glad we avoided a horrible loss.

We in no way deserved to win that, but props to them for never giving up.

I'm torn on that win to be honest. Showed guts to win, but that's a game we should dominate, especially offensively and instead we struggled. Per usual, UK seems to score early and late with nothing in the middle.

Kessler wins it. Poor Butler had it won through 8. Hopefully that should be a good lift for the team going on the road. Really need to be better with runners in scoring position in the first 8 innings. We were 6 for 21 with runners on but we hit the last two.

As we get into the grind of an SEC schedule, I'll take any win we can get cause we're probably not going to get a lot going forward.

I'm not looking at it so much as a win/loss as I am a gauge of where we are and how good we are. The good is that this is 2 late wins where we beat adversity. The bad is that we shouldn't have been in this situation (or the other). We made big offensive changes and they aren't really paying off where it counts (runs).

So, for me, I look at this as a measuring stick more than just a win, and as a measuring stick it isn't great.

The best teams lose midweeks especially when you are in conference play... intensity isn’t always there!! This win shows heart and a will to compete and never give up. Wins like this can propel a TEAM

To my knowledge, we have played the worst schedule in the conference up to this point. These are games we simply cannot afford to drop. We won and that definitely has some positive aspects to it, but this is still a game that UK should win rather easily. Given that those have been fairly rare, this is frustrating.
